Chapter 445: A Walk By The Sea Shore 1

Henry let out a deep breath as he replied.

“Yes. I love living close to the water. I love fishing with my father and helping my mother out in her vegetable garden. Exploring the coastlines has become a hobby for me, and as much as I want to return to my former life as the Henry Gordon you all know, I would still like to retain this life I have come to love.”

Tears pulled in Sarah’s shimmering eyes. “I don’t care what you want to do or where you want to live. As long as I’m with you, that’s all that matters.”

Henry felt a pull towards her, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as his eyes flickered to her full pink lips. He was tempted to kiss her but he was afraid of what her reaction would be.

“Has anyone told you that you have the most beautiful eyes in the world?”

Sarah’s smile widened. “Yes….you have and you just did.” She said laughing softly.

“And your laugh…” he said softly. “It’s…so unique and sweet.”

Sarah’s cheeks flushed a deeper crimson.

“Well, your voice is beautiful too,” She whispered shyly. “It’s so soothing, like listening to a lullaby.”

Henry continued to stare at her, completely hypnotized. He leaned closer, his breath getting heavier by the second.

“I…it … it’s getting really cold.” He whispered, snapping out of the temporal spell. “Do you want us to go back to the cruise?” He cleared his throat awkwardly, breaking eye contact with her.

Sarah sighed wondering if she wasn’t flashing all the green lights that scream, ‘please kiss the hell out of me.’

“No….”

Sarah replied masking her disappointment. But her determination to be kissed didn’t waver for a second as she blurted out.

“How about we go swimming?”

Henry’s eyes widened comically.

“At this time of the night? You’ll freeze.”

She burst into laughter again. “No I won’t.”

Henry rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, not wanting to endanger her.

“How about we put our feet in the water. That’s safer.”

Sarah nodded happily.

“Then let’s do that.”

They both took off their shoes and walked closer to the water until the cold waves reached their ankles.

Sarah giggled at the icy sting while Henry stood next to her, glancing at her face more often than the sea.

Then he asked quietly:

“Sarah… were we very much in love? Or… were we just starting to get to know each other better before the accident?”

The question hit Sarah’s heart like an arrow. She turned to him slowly, her breath hitched.

“We were madly in love with each other, Henry,” she whispered. “Words cannot describe it.”

Henry swallowed, his eyes searching hers.

“How I wish I could remember how much I love you.” He sighed lowering his gaze.

“You don’t have to remember it,” Sarah murmured, stepping closer. “You can feel it instead.”

With trembling fingers, she brushed his hair back gently.

“Look at me, Henry.”

He turned fully toward her, the world around them fading away.

Her thumb grazed his cheek tenderly as she said.

“You once told me a line from the romantic movie we were shooting, that ‘If your soul forgets me, your heart never will.’

Henry suddenly felt breathless as something warm and powerful stirred inside him.

Sarah leaned closer, her forehead gently touching his.

“I’m not asking you to remember. I just want you to feel me.”

Her lips gently brushed against his. “Feel my heart longing desperately for you.”

The moment their lips locked, something inside Henry ignited.

Heat rushed to his face as desire and instinct took charge. His hands seemed to have a mind of their own as they slid around her waist, pulling her closer until there was no space between them.

Sarah gasped softly against his lips as he kissed her back in a deep, hungry way that made her knees weaken.

He kissed her passionately like a man who had waited decades to taste true love. His hands roamed over her back possessively, lifting her up while sinking his foot into the wet sand to keep them from falling over.

Their tongues twirled and tangled with such delicate and at the same time fierce movement that left both of them completely out of breath.

When they finally parted, lips panting for air. Sarah whispered.

“You never changed. You are still the same Henry…the best kisser in the world.”

Henry chuckled, “I never knew I had it in me.”

“Kiss me again,” Sarah whispered, feeling intoxicated by his warmth.

Henry didn’t hesitate. He kissed her again, this time, much slower and tender, exploring her mouth like a treasure seeker.

When they broke apart again, Sarah’s eyes shimmered with threatening tears, causing Henry to panic.

“Did… Did I hurt you? Did I go too far?” He asked putting her down.

She shook her head fiercely and threw her arms around him.

“I just… I miss you so much.”

Henry held her tightly, his chin resting softly on top her head.

“I’m here, now. And I promise I won’t let anyone hurt you again.” Henry whispered, not even realizing how much those words meant.

Sarah wanted to tell him everything, about Sebastian and all the horror she endured being his caged bird. But she swallowed it back.

‘Not tonight.’ She echoed in her thoughts, tightening her arms around him.

After a few moments, Henry looked down at her damp feet and said gently:

“We have to go back. You’re going to get sick if we stay in this cold water any longer.”

She nodded against his chest and followed his lead.

Back on the cruise deck, none of the family members had gone to bed as each of them was patiently waiting for Sarah and Henry to return.

The moment they saw Henry and Sarah returning together with wet feet, slightly messy hair, and flushed faces, they quickly pretended not to notice while inwardly jubilating.

Judith turned her chair in the opposite direction pretending to comment on Amelia’s dress.

Hillary whistled off-key to avoid looking while asking Blaze about the wine he was drinking.

Michael suddenly found the stars extremely interesting.

But Amelia, who had always been terrible at pretending welcomed them with a teasing remark.

“Henry, I didn’t notice you were wearing makeup before leaving here.”

Henry froze, his face turning beet red, and Sarah squeezed Henry’s hand, trying not to burst into laughter.

“I’ll show Henry to his cabin. Good night everyone.”

“Good night.” They all chorused as the couple disappeared below the deck.
