Chapter 435: This Is For, Henry.

“Going somewhere, my love?”

Sarah froze, her heart slamming hard against her ribs. The dagger in her hand suddenly felt heavier than steel as she turned slowly to face him.

Sebastian stood a few feet away, shirtless. His hair was dishevelled, and his eyes gleamed with a dangerous mixture of hurt and fury.

“I’m leaving you tonight, Sebastian.” Sarah’s voice was calm but laced with fire. Her fingers tightened around the dagger grip as she pointed it towards him while stepping out of the cottage. “And the only thing that’s going to stop me is this dagger buried in your heart.”

Sebastian chuckled darkly, taking a slow step forward, both his hands raised in the air as he studied her, looking for any weakness.

“Come on Sarah. You won’t kill your husband. That would only make you a widow.”

“Husband!” Sarah spat on the floor, her nose crinkling in disgust. “You coward are no husband of mine. You’ve already made me a widow the day you killed Henry. Nevertheless, Henry would always be my husband even in death.”

Sebastian’s jaw clenched at the mention of Henry’s name. But he managed to calm his rage as he spoke softly.

“We’ve been down this road before, Sarah. And the last time, you made me hit you against my will. Please… Let’s not do this again. I don’t want to hurt you. Drop the knife and come to bed. I promise I won’t be angry. I’ll forgive you and we will pretend like none of this happened.” He spread his arms toward the dimly lit cottage.

Sarah let out a scornful chuckle. “Forgive me?” she hissed. “You should be the one asking for my forgiveness you miserable prick. But don’t worry, the only forgiveness you’re going to get from me is a painful death by the time I’m through with you for killing the only man I would ever love.”

Sebastian paused, his gaze softening briefly, despite the hint of danger lurking at the corner of his eyes. “You’re still upset, Sarah. You don’t know what you’re saying. Because if you do, you won’t have been sleeping in my bed for the past six days. Don’t forget we almost made love tonight. Come on, drop the knife and come to daddy.” He gestured at her moving closer.

“Take one more step, you bastard,” She warned, positioning herself for the kill. “And I swear, I’ll end this nightmare right now.”

“No you won’t.” Sebastian dared her, already anticipating her move as before.

Sarah lunged fast, slashing the air, but Sebastian caught her wrist mid-swing, their bodies colliding in a violent tangle.

The dagger’s blade grazed his arm, drawing a sharp hiss from his lips as he twisted her hand, trying to wrench the weapon free.

However, Sarah had already learnt from her previous mistake, knowing Sebastian was left-handed. She quickly withdrew another smaller kitchen knife she had hidden out of sight and drove it down Sebastian’s thigh, drawing a deep, terrifying groan from him.

“I warned you, bastard.” Sarah drove her knee upward into his rib, like a karate expert.

“Sarah….stop!” He grunted in anguish.

But Sarah was just getting warmed up.

All those miserable days of sucking up to him and pretending to be a happy caged bird had prepared her for tonight.

“Take that asshole.” She drove her ringed fist up his jugular, loosening his grip on her, adrenaline pumping in her veins and fueling her fury.

Then she reached for her dagger on the floor. But Sebastian, caught her by the neck and forcefully slammed her back against the wall, knocking the breath out of her.

Sarah gasped, pain shooting up her spine. The dagger in her right hand almost slipped slightly, but she reached for it again, gripping it tightly as Sebastian pinned her hands above her head.

“Stop this madness now.” Sebastian roared in her face. “Or I will make you feel pain.”

“Hahahahaha….” Sarah cackled like a witch conjuring a spell. “Every moment with you is worse than any pain in this world.” She slammed her forehead into his face with brutal force knocking his hawkish nose out of place

Sebastian groaned in horror, staggering backwards as fresh blood trickled down his nose. He instinctively cupped his nose, forgetting that she was holding a dagger in her hand.

Although Sarah’s own forehead throbbed with so much pain, she didn’t stop to breathe or feel it.

Her eyes blurred with tears as she screamed. “This is for Henry.” She raised the dagger again and plunged the blade toward him.

Like a cat with nine lives, Sebastian deflected the strike away from his bare chest. But the knife still slashed across his shoulder.

“Ahhh…” Sebastian shrieked, losing his balance and collapsing on the white sandy ground.

Sarah tried to make a run for it, but Sebastian caught her by the ankle and yanked her off her feet.

When Sarah fell on her butt, he tried to subdue her but she dug her finger into his bruised flesh, cursing and kicking violently like a wild animal.

“Get your filthy hands off me.” Sarah twisted free with one final brutal kick to his crotch.

Speedily standing up, she picked up her dagger and sprinted into the island forest.

“Sarah!” Sebastian roared, staggering up to his feet and chasing after her, his body and nose covered in his own blood.

Sarah didn’t stop to catch her breath. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her, following the path she had memorised during the day.

The moon lit her way as she raced through the dark forest toward the waterfall, branches whipping against her skin, bruising her exposed flesh.

Behind her, she could hear Sebastian’s uneven footsteps pounding the ground, closer and closer, gaining up on her.

Using Sebastian’s satellite phone, which she had concealed in her pants, she dialled Amelia’s number while praying to the heavens for the number to go through.

Thankfully, the number connected, and Sarah screamed into the phone as she heard her cousin’s subtle voice.

“Amelia, it’s Sarah. Please help me. Find my location and help me. Sebastian is going to kill me.” She quickly tossed the phone into thick foliage without ending the call.

“Sarah… Stop…You can’t run away from me.” Sebastian chased behind her, unaware of the distress call she had made. His voice was hoarse and desperate, thinking she was about to drown herself.

She reached the waterfall clearing, her chest burning, and her lungs screaming for air.

Taking a deep breath, she leapt into the shallow stream, splashing toward the speed boat, her only hope of freedom.

She successfully got into the boat after securing the boat anchor. Just as she reached for the ignition cord, a hand seized her ankle, yanking her backwards into the water.

“No…” She screamed, thrashing violently with all her might. “Let go of me you sick animal.”

“You think I will let you abandon me.” Sebastian roared, pulling her up by the waist and trying to wrestle the dagger away from her hand. They both slipped and crashed into the shallow water, with Sebastian’s grip tightening around her.

“Don’t make me hurt you the way you’ve hurt me, Sarah. Because I will.” Sebastian shouted, slapping her across the cheek while trying to twist the knife from her grip.

“You already have, you bastard.” Sarah reached for a rock below the water and slammed it on his head with all her might.

Then she scrambled onto the boat, trembling as she yanked the cord, once and then twice before he engine sputtered and roared to life.

Bleeding on the centre of his head and gasping for air, Sebastian lunged at the boat, grabbing its side.

“Sarah, stop….please.”

“Go to hell.” Sarah didn’t hesitate for a single heartbeat as she kicked his hand away, pushing him back into the water.

The speedboat surged forward, cutting through the mist and darkness.

In her blinding fury, coupled with her tears and the waterfall blurring her vision, she didn’t see the jagged rocks jutting out ahead on her path.

The crash was deafening as the boat split against the stone, sending Sarah flying into the cold black sea.

Sarah’s head struck something hard, and in that blinding moment, her world tilted, and everything went black around her.

“Sarah!” Sebastian roared, swimming as fast as his injured legs and arms could carry him. He caught her on time just before the waves could carry her away, holding her cold and almost lifeless body close to his chest while placing a hand on her bleeding head.

“Don’t you dare die on me,” he rasped, his own vision dimming from his own blood loss. “Please… I can’t live without you.”
