Chapter 434: Escape Plan

******

Hello readers,

Thank you for staying true to this story and following me through the journey despite the slow updates.

As we slowly come to the end of this beautiful love story, I would like to thank everyone of you for your support, your feedbacks, your inspiring comments and your gifts.

This story would be nothing without you all. Best regards, my lovelies….

Blaze leaned back slowly, studying Cassandra as though she were a riddle he was trying to unravel.

“So what do you think happened to Sarah and Henry?”

“Honestly, I don’t know,” Cassandra said shakily. “But if there is one thing I’m certain of, it is Sebastian’s deep hatred for Henry. If he ever had the opportunity, he wouldn’t spare Henry’s life. He would kill Henry to claim Sarah. But as for Sarah….” She looked up at Blaze with desperate conviction. “…the Sebastian I know would never hurt her. He loves her too much and killing her is as good as taking his own life.”

A dangerous silence fell in the room as Blaze slowly assembled the puzzle he had been trying to fix for more than a month now.

He thought about Henry’s black signature ring that was found on the dead clergyman and asked.

“Do you recall the news about the dead clergy man found around the region of their disappearance?”

Cassandra nodded. “Yes.”

“Do you think Sebastian would ever need a priest for anything?”

Fresh tears streamed down Cassandra’s reddened cheeks as she nodded again. “Yes.”

“What for?”

“A w…wedding.”

“A wedding?” Blaze’s gaze darkened like a storm cloud, about to unleash a deadly natural disaster.

“Yes….” Cassandra shrank deeper in her seat.

Blaze resisted the urge to punch a hole through Cassandra’s face for withholding such critical information all this time.

Everything now made sense. The dead clergyman must have been with Henry before he died.

“If you were Sebastian, where would you take Sarah?” Blaze asked, a plan already taking shape in his mind.

“Far away to an isolated and very remote Island where no one can trace me.”

Blaze rose from his seat, the chair screeching against the tiled floors. He stepped forward, towering over Cassandra like a looming storm, causing her breath to hitch.

“Start saying your last prayer, because if anything happens to Henry or Sarah, you and your entire family will be wiped out from the surface of this earth.” He turned around and left the room without a single word, leaving Cassandra second-guessing her fate with the wolves seated idly by her sides, waiting for their feast of flesh.

Outside the interrogation room, Blaze ordered in a lethal tone.

“Echo, get a team ready. I want Sebastian’s uncle found, no matter where he’s hiding. Quietly bring him to this place alive, and set up a replacement for him in case his nephew tries to contact him. Have him drilled to his last breath for information, and feed him to the wolves afterwards”

“Yes, boss,” Echo replied, his voice filled with determination.

“Also recruit more hands to scout the islands around the world and get my private jet on standby.”

The distant cry of seagulls pierced the dawn, its soft and mournful sounds echoing across the shoreline of the island.

Sarah stirred gently, her lashes fluttering open to the peaceful sound of morning, only to find Sebastian already awake, his face hovering close and a gentle smile stretching across his lips.

Before she could move, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips, causing her body to stiffen.

“Good morning, my love,” he whispered tenderly.

Sarah fist curled under the sheet, but her expression remained neutral.

“Good morning.” She pushed him off her, a feeling of nausea washing over her which she managed to suppress.

“Breakfast is served, darling.” Sebastian motioned towards the beautifully garnished food on the bedside table. “I woke up very early to prepare this just for you.”

“Really!” Sarah blinked, her expression dazed and innocent as she pushed herself up on one elbow. “You didn’t have to, Sebastian. I thought I told you that I wanted to be doing the cooking for you.”

Sebastian chuckled, his eyes glittering with adoration. “I know my love and I’m sorry. You were looking so beautiful while you slept and I didn’t want to wake you. Consider this my apology for the way I acted last night.”

Sarah forced a smile as she said. “Thank you.”

Sebastian stood up and carried the tray over to her while she sat up.

“I have to quickly use the restroom. I promise I won’t be long.” Sarah said, climbing out of bed.

“Sure,” Sebastian smiled feverishly, as he realised the front door was open. “I’ll get my own food while you use the bathroom.” He followed her out of the room and lingered in the kitchen until he heard the bathroom door shut with a click. Then he quickly tiptoed to the entrance door like a mouse and secured it, before returning to the kitchen like a paranoid, love-sick puppy.

Inside her bathroom, Sarah turned the water on, letting the sound of the shower mask her trembling breath. She gripped the edge of the sink, staring at her reflection.

It was pale, fierce and alive. She splashed some water on her face and double checked her stolen hidden treasures from the previous night. A creepy smile curled up her lips as she murmured to herself.

“Just a little longer and all of this nightmare will be over. And when that time comes, I will make sure you bleed slowly, Sebastian.” She vowed.

After brushing and a quick shower, she stopped briefly by her room and got dressed before joining Sebastian in his room for breakfast.

Over the next couple of days, Sarah perfected her escape plan while gaining Sebastian’s trust or so she thought.

One faithful night, after getting Sebastian drunk, she waited until his breathing grew heavy beside her before she slowly slid out of the bed, placing a pillow under his arm.

She quietly retrieved the cottage entrance key from his bedside drawer and silently left the room, like she had practised in the past.

Next, she tiptoed into the kitchen, where she had successfully stashed a dagger and her escape clothes.

She quickly changed and hurried to the door, her heart racing and her hands trembling as she inserted the key into the lock.

With one final click, she unlocked the door. It creaked as she pushed it open, the smell of freedom finally within grasp. But before she could take one step outside, Sebastian’s dangerously low voice echoed behind her.

“Going somewhere, my love?”
