Chapter 431: Nice Try

A dark twisted smile curled up Sarah’s lips as she said in a soft velvety tone.

“Since I’ll be spending the rest of my life with you on this godforsaken island, I might as well start getting used to you. Wouldn’t you agree?”

“Of course, baby.” Sebastian exhaled, still massaging his bruised crotch. “But this is no god forsaken island. It’s your paradise and mine.”

“Hmm…” Sarah’s smirk deepened. “In that case, we will have to get closer to know ourselves better.”

“I’m down for anything, baby.”

“Good.”

Sarah turned around and strolled toward the door, swaying her hips with deliberate allure. Then she glanced over her shoulder, her eyes glinting like blades. “Tonight, I’ll be sleeping in your room…husband.”

“Did you just call me husband?” Sebastian’s eyes sparkled with a blend of shock and excitement.

“Isn’t that what you call yourself?” Sarah sneered, her patience wearing thin. “Or should I just call you Sebastian?”

“No…. Husband is fine. With time we can move on to you calling me baby.” He beamed, winking at her.

“Don’t push a luck.” Sarah clicked her tongue and left the room while Sebastian followed, like an excited child about to receive an ice cream reward.

Inside Sebastian’s bedroom, Sarah slowly slipped into his bed, her gaze never leaving him.

“Put on some proper nightwear and join me in bed, husband.” Sarah drawled the last word, spinning Sebastian’s head like a tarantula spinning a deadly web.

“Whatever makes my baby happy.” Sebastian hurriedly dressed up and joined her on the bed, his eyes glimmering with anticipation.

“Come to me…” Sarah pulled him closer to her chest, her hand stroking his hair.

Although Sebastian was suspicious of her motive, he still fell like a fool yearning for her touch and affection.

“If you treat me well, you will get everything you deserve.”Sarah cooed, treating him like a spoiled child who believed he’d finally won.

“I promise I will treat you right Sarah. I love you.”

“I still hate you.” Her fingers trailed through his hair in soft, calculated strokes, each one a silent lullaby.

“Not for long.” He murmured sleepily, his voice slurring with contentment. “You’ll love me eventually and I will keep you safe forever.”

Sarah smiled faintly “Of course,” she whispered, letting her warm breath fan his forehead until his breathing slowed, then deepened.

Sarah kept stroking his hair, humming a soft tune, until his body went limp against her body.

When Sarah was certain that he was finally asleep, she quietly slipped out of the bed, fixing the pillow underneath his arm.

“Asshole!” She muttered under her breath, breathing slowly. She paused momentarily, her heart hammering in her chest as she watched his face twitch a little. When he didn’t move again, she began her silent mission.

She quietly scanned the desk, the drawers, the nightstand and every corner of the meticulously organised room, but didn’t find the keys she was looking for.

Her pulse quickened as she crouched by the bedside and looked under the bed.

There she found a polished wood box locked with a set of combinations.

“Shit!” She spied on Sebastian sleeping face before quietly pulling the box from under the bed. She thought briefly as she assessed the box thoroughly for any trick wire system.

When she found none, she progressed to try out a set of random numbers starting with Sebastian’s birthday.

After six trials and failures, she tried her own birthday and to her disgust, it unlocked the box with a tiny click sound.

Sarah shot her head up, thinking the sound would awaken Sebastian, but thankfully it didn’t.

Inside the box, she found some folded maps, a compass, some unused cell phones and different tagged bunches of keys.

She spotted the key she was looking for and carefully slipped it out, wrapping it inside her outer fabric to muffle the rattling sound.

Her panicked eyes flickered to her abductor on the bed, every five seconds as she took out one of the cell phones and the compass, before returning the box to its original position.

Exhaling, with beads of sweat gathering on her forehead, she gently stood up, wishing she knew where the f*cker hid his guns.

As she took one step towards the door, Sebastian stirred and muttered her name in his sleep clutching the pillow tighter.

Sarah froze, every muscle in her body locked as she turned her eyes toward the bed.

A bead of sweat trickled down her temple as she stilled her breath, praying desperately in her heart.

Her heart was pounding so hard she could hear it drumming in her ears. She waited a few seconds before taking another step and another until she was standing in front of the closed door.

She was about to place her hand on the handle when Sebastian’s voice called to her a second time in his sleep.

“Sarah…”.His voice was drowsy, low, half-conscious, stopping her cold. “Don’t leave me.”

She turned, forcing her lips into a gentle smile. “I’m here, baby. Sleep now,” she whispered softly. “I’m not going anywhere.”

He grunted faintly and rolled over to the other side, his face sinking into the pillow.

Exhaling softly, she gently opened the door and slipped out of his room, leaving the door slightly closed.

She hurried to her left, having memorised the layout of the house. Her pulse raced as she sneaked into her bathroom and locked the door.

There, she retrieved a nylon bag she had hidden the previous day and put everything inside. Then she hid the nylon bag in a spot where Sebastian won’t suspect.

Just then, she saw a shadow move in front of the door, making her blood run cold.

“Shit!” Sarah cursed under her breath, her erratically pounding heart threatening to leap out of her chest. She watched the shadow disappear and then return. It stood beside the door as if lying in an ambush for her.

“Take a deep breath and calm down, Sarah.” She muttered under her breath, blowing air through her mouth. “Just act neutral”

She relieved herself and flushed the toilet. Then she turned on the tap and washed her hands, before unlocking the toilet door.

“Sebastian!” She gasped, pretending to be startled by his presence.

“Nice try.” Sebastian scoffed, his expression cold and unreadable.
