Capítulo 442: Cooking
The shopkeeper’s eyes instantly lit up at the profitable request, sensing a rare lucrative opportunity had just walked through his door.
He nodded vigorously in agreement, his voice brimming with excitement, “Of course, esteemed guest! Please wait just a moment; I’ll immediately send someone to fetch the utensils and ingredients. Meanwhile, I will retrieve our finest cooking manuals and recipes.”
Orion nodded, calmly waiting near the counter. Lyra curiously wandered around him, gently tugging at his robes, her bright emerald eyes filled with innocent excitement and wonder as she pointed at various intriguing objects displayed throughout the shop.
Orion laughed softly, gently entertaining her with explanations of each item she found fascinating, his expression warm and affectionate as he patiently answered her eager questions.
Observing the pair from behind the counter, even the shopkeeper had to sigh in amazement. The young noble in front of him had a really good composure. When the entire city was distraught with worry about a possible attack, he was here entertaining the little girl.
The shopkeeper quietly marveled inwardly, silently thinking, ‘I wonder who he is?’
Returning his focus to the task at hand, the shopkeeper quickly gathered numerous rare cooking manuals, recipes, and scrolls detailing culinary techniques.
He carefully arranged everything onto the counter, excitement evident in his eager expression, “Esteemed guest, here are all our finest cooking guides. Your utensils and ingredients will arrive shortly.”
Orion casually examined the selection with quiet satisfaction, flipping through a few books as Lyra peeked over the edge of the counter, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
With a gentle smile, Orion glanced at her fondly, softly murmuring, “It seems we’ll be cooking a feast soon.”
Lyra’s adorable face instantly brightened, and she clapped her hands joyfully, “Yay!”
The shopkeeper smiled warmly seeing the little girl, “Your little sister is really adorable, Young Noble.”
Lyra’s cheeks puffed up as she quickly said, “He’s my papa!”
Orion’s lips twitched, a helpless smile forming on his face.
The shopkeeper looked at him with slightly shocked eyes, “I’m sorry, Young Noble, I didn’t expect you to have such a big daughter at such a young age…”
“…”
Orion really felt like slapping the shopkeeper. He could clearly see it was impossible for him to have such a big daughter with his age, but he just shook his head in defeat.
Exhaling a sigh, he said, “She is my little sister. And you,” he roughly rubbed her head, “You really like making trouble.”
She giggled as she stuck out her tongue, “Hehe. I love papa’s cooking.”
Orion shook his head helplessly yet lovingly, gently patting her head. “Alright, you also know how to get out of trouble now, you little glutton.”
Lyra giggled sweetly, hugging Orion’s leg affectionately as they continued browsing the small things in the shop, completely immersed in their warm little world, a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere that seemed to be gripping the hearts of everyone in the city.
Under the gentle sunlight filtering through the lush top of the forest, Orion and Lyra quietly sat together beneath the sheltering branches of a large, ancient oak tree.
The gentle rustle of leaves and the distant chirping of birds lent a soothing harmony to their quiet retreat.
Orion turned his head softly toward the little girl beside him, and said with a gentle smile on his face, “Little Lyra, I’ll be gone just for a few seconds. Don’t be afraid, alright?”
Lyra raised her adorable little face, blinking her large emerald eyes with complete trust and innocence. She nodded earnestly, saying softly yet firmly, “Mn, Lyra isn’t scared. I’ll wait for papa.”
Orion felt warmth suffusing his chest at her adorable words. Nodding lightly, he closed his eyes and reached deep within his Sea of Consciousness, gently retrieving the ethereal Golden Headband.
The golden headband appeared, shimmering softly as it settled atop his forehead.
Instantly, Orion vanished in a soft ripple of golden light, only to reappear just a moment later.
Lyra stared up at him curiously, eyes widening slightly in surprise. She tilted her head cutely, asking with wonder, “Back so soon, papa?”
Orion chuckled warmly, his aura now notably different, more refined, almost as if he was a scholar. “Haha, yes,” he replied playfully. “Now wait and see how I present you the best dish you’ve ever tasted.”
From his spatial ring, Orion carefully took out the meat of a Tier 9 beast, its quality evident through the faint yet potent aura that surrounded it.
He had killed the beast with the help of Soulpiercer and had exhausted all of his mana. But the effect was also very good, a single strike had cleaved the beast in half.
He handled it with care, focused eyes immediately preparing it with mastered hands.
Lumi’s playful voice echoed teasingly in his Sea of Consciousness,
[Master, you really spent weeks inside the Inheritance Grounds just to learn cooking techniques, hehe.]
Orion inwardly smiled, calmly replying, ‘Well, I need to properly utilize all the resources I’ve been given. After all, what’s the use of strength if I can’t even prepare good meals for Little Lyra?’
Lumi mischievously continued,
[I wonder if the monkey would beat you with his stick if he discovered you used his precious inheritance ground to master cooking instead of martial skills.]
Orion couldn’t help but chuckle softly at the thought, shaking his head slightly in amusement as he had also made food there, making the others there surprised as most of them had not seen anyone there learning cooking in the inheritance grounds. He soon refocused entirely on his task.
With refined, precise movements, he prepared the beast meat, employing all the subtle techniques and culinary knowledge meticulously learned within the timeless inheritance.
High above the tranquil clouds, Eldric and Selene hovered silently, their eyes reflecting gentle curiosity and faint amazement as they observed Orion carefully preparing his dish below.
Eldric stroked his beard thoughtfully, amusement evident in his tone as he muttered, “Old woman, did our grandson just vanish somewhere to learn cooking recipes and then come right back?”
Selene’s lips curled into an affectionate smile, nodding softly, “Indeed, it seems so. It appears that golden treasure of his can manipulate time or send him somewhere that can control time. No wonder he’s aging faster than usual. I suspected something, but I never imagined he’d be using such a precious treasure for cooking of all things. Everyone is afraid of losing their lifespan and he is squandering it like this.”
Eldric’s eyes twinkled with restrained laughter as he considered this, “I’ve heard about treasures like that before. All of them share one thing: an astronomical energy requirement. Those little Mana Crystals he had before shouldn’t be sufficient even for a minor temporal shift, and he also used them while hatching the little girl. How in the world is he maintaining it?”
Selene giggled gently, turning her gaze affectionately toward Lyra below, who patiently sat with sparkling eyes watching Orion, “Regardless, he’s found a truly precious little gem this time. Just look at that child, so innocent and adorable. If not for you, old man, I would have already gone down to hug her tightly.”
Eldric’s expression turned mildly serious as he carefully examined Lyra, stroking his beard pensively, “From the faint aura I sense from her, she resembles the legendary Ancient Ferocious Beasts. I thought their bloodlines were extinct, having fallen in the great wars of the First Era of this Epoch.”
Selene’s expression also shifted subtly, her eyes deepening in contemplation as she quietly agreed, “We can’t be sure, she only has some aura of them. But if it’s true then she really has one of the most powerful bloodlines with limitless potential. Only the Kings among the myriad races can compare with Ancient Ferocious Beasts.”
