First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1191
Capítulo 1191: Holes in Time
Abaddon thought he was hallucinating at first.
It wouldn’t have been the strangest thing to happen to him. Especially not with how strange he had been feeling over the last few days.
However, he knew he wasn’t going insane when even Odie let her spoon fall out of her mouth as she slowly pointed at the figure.
She had seen his face almost every time she opened her wallet. His paintings were glaringly accurate, from the powdered wig all the way to the buttoned up clothes.
There was something the history books didn’t cover though. He smelled as bad as sin.
Every time his wooden teeth clacked together Abaddon thought he was going to pass out.
Odessa, who had no supernatural senses, could not tell that anything was wrong and was chattering away, catching old George up on everything he was not aware of.
…Sometimes it felt like an uphill battle.
“…So you’re free-”
“OKAY, time for you to go back.” Abaddon opened a blue hole behind the first president and mentally tossed him through the opening.
Odessa turned to her father and pouted. ‘Hey… why’d you do that? I was going to show him a mukbang video and have him listen to dubstep!’
Abaddon rolled his eyes. “Other than to protect the sanctity of the space time continuum..? To spare my sinuses.”
Odie tilted her head and blinked, not understanding.
Her father was not in a position to answer her, because his headache soon returned with a vengeance.
Abaddon placed his head down on his desk, letting out a small groan as his room began to spin.
“T-That’s it, I’m calling mom..” Odie was halfway in her pocket to grab her phone when a familiar hand stopped her.
“It’s alright, I’m already here.”
Odie looked up to find her mother miraculously inside of the classroom.
In her human form, Lailah was an intimidating, albeit diminutive beauty with dark cocoa colored skin instead of her usual shining bronze.
She kneeled at her husband’s side and touched his face, prompting a wry smile from him.
“…You are never going to believe who I just saw again.”
“Tell me later, hon. Let’s get you home first.”
“Can’t.” Abaddon shook his head. “No time to get a sub and I have to collect essays today.”
Lailah was almost amused. She never thought her husband would take to teaching quite as much as he had.
“Got that covered.”
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and a familiar familial face entered the room.
“I am here to educate and be annoyed by human teenagers. Feel free to applaud and marvel at my benevolence.” Sei raised her chin haughtily.
Abaddon and Odessa clapped in unison.
“So you’re fine now, right?” Lailah said impatiently. “Let’s go and-”
“I still have practice this afternoon.”
“That’s what assistant coaches are for, dear. The team will run fine without you.”
“But-”
Lailah clasped her hand over her husband’s mouth and smiled at him with a very apparent threatening demeanor.
“Abaddon… if the next words out of your mouth aren’t ‘yes, wife’ then I am going to break your neck.”
Abaddon couldn’t tell if it was because he was running a fever, but today his wife seemed even hotter than usual.
–
Satan was sitting on the sofa, scratching his stomach like an ape as he watched a brutal war movie on television.
“Weak… so damn weak.” The demon burped.
Beside him, Isabelle and Iori were lying on each other, not saying a word and barely paying attention.
“You see that? That big bronze bull? I was the one who gave that idea to Perillus, you know? Came to him in a dream, and he was just demented enough to want to pick my brains about all kinds of things… I miss that guy.”
“”Mhm.””
“Want to know where the idea came from?”
“Mhm.”
“Well, if you insist… Humans are delicious, right? So one day I thought to myself, ‘what if I could make someone else cook them for me and then convince them to feed them to me as offerings’!”
“”That’s crazy…””
“I know, I know!” Satan cackled. “The first time they used it, I had the best meal of my life and I thought for sure that-”
“”That’s crazy…””
Satan’s brow furrowed. “Are you bastards even listening to me?!”
“”That’s nice, Satan.”” Isabelle and Iori responded robotically.
The demon lord was painfully unamused.
Suddenly, Lailah came into the room with Abaddon’s arm slung over her shoulder.
“Satan. Up.”
“Bitch do I look like a dog to y-”
Lailah’s tail shot out from her dress and wrapped around Satan’s neck.
There was a loud crash as she flung him out the nearest window and onto the basketball court.
Lailah was surprised when her husband kissed her on her cheek afterwards. “You’re so cool.”
In two simple seconds, Lailah went from a vengeful serpent to a blushing maiden. Abaddon thought that was one of her greatest charms.
Slowly, Lailah helped her husband lower himself onto the sofa.
“You don’t look so good, nephew…” Iori checked his watch. “And you’re home before seven during football season. Something happen?”
Abaddon smiled wryly. “George Washington showed up in my classroom.”
“I mean, you’re a history teacher, so I would think…” Isabelle’s words suddenly trailed off. “You mean in a textbook, right?”
Abaddon could only shake his head.
Lailah’s mind began spinning with theories.
“The timeline must be becoming unstable because you didn’t allow a new one to form after you made changes. Our current one is beginning to fray, and we may not have long to fix it.”
Isabelle raised her hand. “Just for curiosity’s sake, what happens if our timeline fully breaks down?”
“Oh, we’ll be fine.”
“Whew…”
“Everything else, not so much.”
“Not whew…”
Lailah wiped her husband’s brow with a damp cloth. “I’m only guessing, but as of right now, it seems like the walls between conscious thoughts and actual reality are being worn down, allowing people to pull things from different times with a mere thought.
Since your mind is more powerful than others, you were the one to cause an aberration first. It’s the only way I can explain how you were actually able to pierce the veil and summon the real George Washington without trying.”
“You’re… probably right.” Abaddon leaned his head back and stared at the ceiling. “Fucking Eternity, that smug prick…”
Slowly, more of their wives began trickling in.
Lisa came in from the kitchen with Tatiana and Erica at her side. Audrina was sneakily following the three of them around in their shadow.
“Oh, honey… you don’t look well.” Lisa said worriedly.
“His physical health is destabilizing with the timeline. Likely a result of whatever strange new anomaly is residing within his soul.” Lailah sighed.
“The timeline is destabilizing?” Tatiana tilted her head.
Lailah held up her hand.
Suddenly, all of the color was sucked out of the room, and an anomaly appeared over her palm.
It looked like a mass of glowing white string with no real end in sight.
However, if one looked closely enough, they could see dark spots where the string was beginning to fray and collapse in on itself. At first, there were only three, but the spots were growing more and more by the second.
“I’ll fix it.” Abaddon started to stand up.
Lailah placed her hand on his chest. “In your condition? There’s no way I’ll agree to that. We don’t know what’s going to happen if you continue pushing the boundaries of these new powers that aren’t even yours. You could rip your soul apart if you aren’t careful.”
Abaddon placed his hand over hers and squeezed. “I understand that, but something has to be done. I can’t just let their timeline destroy itself because of my actions.”
Lailah’s gaze softened as she looked at her husband. She brought a hand to his cheek and rubbed.
“Yesh and Asherah would not want you to do something that might cause you bodily harm. If you want to do something for them, then you shouldn’t-”
“It’s not just about them. How can I call myself a man if I don’t clean up my own mistakes? I can repair the timeline without merging with it, and without using Eternity’s powers. I just need you to trust me.”
“It’s not about trust, love. It’s about worry.”
“Then I need you not to worry about me.”
“It is my job. And one you will never be able to relieve me of.
Abaddon already knew that, of course. But the very last thing he wanted was for Lailah, or anyone else to stress themselves out over this.
“We can help if you want…”
The family looked towards the doorway where three of Abaddon’s daughters had been eavesdropping for a while.
Mira, Gabbrielle, and Thea all stood still, giving their father expectant looks.
“We’re all pretty good with time magic n’stuff…” Mira said shyly. “So just tell us what you need us to do, and we’ll help you.”
Abaddon started to shake his head. “No, I don’t think-”
Lailah covered his mouth with her hand again. “I think that’s a great idea. Thank you, girls.”
The children smiled excitedly. Abaddon, who was too tired to fight, resigned himself to accepting help from the people whom he wanted to involve the least.
