Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3272
Capítulo 3272: Attraction
Shumi’s white hair flowed freely in the wind, the veil no longer covering her heavenly beauty. Alex saw her face and was stunned by her beauty. Something like this had never happened to him before in his life.
There had been one time when he thought he was attracted to someone. It was in the Eclipsing Heaven realm when he met the Winter God for the first time. She was someone who had made his heart race, just as Shumi had said.
However, after meeting the Storm God, who made him feel a similar degree of reverence toward him, Alex had quickly realized that he hadn’t fallen in love with the Winter God or anything. It was just how one felt when they were around her.
She was—as Rosemist called them—a Half-God. His master had more or less confirmed that Half-Gods were very much different from regular gods, with abilities and powers that were beyond regular measures.
While Alex didn’t understand the reason behind all of that, he understood very clearly that what he had felt back then wasn’t normal, and as such, this was perhaps his first time truly finding someone attractive.
But was this real? Or was this just the effects of the connection between the two?
If the Winter God was a Half-God, then Shumi was the incarnation of a True God. Did that matter in some way?
Alex realized belatedly that he had been staring at her for a long few seconds now, not responding to her initial question. He quickly coughed and nodded.
“You… you’re right,” Alex said quickly. “I do find you attractive.”
His heart beat a mile a minute at this point, so he couldn’t even deny that. She could probably hear his heartbeat herself. He definitely could.
Shumi’s face grew redder at that point, and she looked away. “Me too,” she said meekly. “I’ve never felt this way before, and I’ve been trying to ignore it, but when I saw you earlier, I realized that I find you quite handsome as well. I’ve been around many powerful individuals who everyone calls handsome, and never have I felt this way. I’m guessing this is part of the connection too.”
Alex hesitated for a moment before nodding. He couldn’t deny that there was perhaps an external force there trying to make them think of each other as attractive. Not that neither of them weren’t attractive. And to be fair, there was already an external force making them think everyone else wasn’t attractive.
‘Is this part of the Sun God’s doing then?’ Alex wondered. ‘Why would he do that?’
The only logical answer he could think of was that the Sun God did not wish for him to be together with any other women, thus suppressing any and all urges he would feel as a man.
‘All this time, I thought I just couldn’t find another woman attractive because I saw the Moon Goddess in my memories and fell in love with her,’ he thought. ‘But it might instead be true that the reason for it was because my body itself never allowed me to like someone else.’
He looked back at Shumi.
‘All for this moment. All so I could meet the Moon Goddess and fall for her,’ Alex thought, and fall for her he had. He didn’t voice it out just yet, but she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life, somehow now appearing more beautiful than the other two times he had seen her.
It was as if her improving her body constitution had somehow made her more attractive.
‘It really is just our God bodies, isn’t it?’ Alex asked. ‘Why is it doing this? Why does it want us to get together?’
Alex narrowed his eyes. Was the answer as simple as he thought it was? Why did all humans of the opposite sex regularly get attracted to each other?
That answer was copulation. Or more precisely, procreation.
Did the gods want them to give birth to someone? What would a child like that be? Alex hesitated. He wasn’t sure he wanted the answer to that.
‘I’m just getting ahead of myself now,’ he thought to himself. ‘Something else might be the answer that I haven’t thought of just yet. I haven’t heard a single prophecy about me that refers to my child at all, so it might be—’
Alex remembered a prophecy just then.
When two becomes one…
“Fuck!”
He couldn’t help but let out a curse under his breath.
“Did you say something?” Shumi asked, the blush on her face lessening a little.
“Nothing,” Alex quickly said. “We should continue searching. It’s better if we find the way in soon.”
Shumi nodded and followed behind Alex, searching through any places he might’ve missed on the rock. The Moon Goddess, the woman with her silver-white hair, still pointed directly toward the center, so they had to get in somehow.
Time passed slowly, but they could find nothing at all. They had been around half the mountain, so the other half still remained.
Alex tried making some small talk, asking Shumi about her life in the Demon realms.
“I mostly stay in the Silvermoon Citadel. I’ve been around to the other realms, but mostly just to visit them. I have to go on parades from time to time. I’m needed to be there to remind the people that their goddess is nearly back.”
Alex raised an eyebrow. He remembered back to the sparse few memories he got from the soul he had killed back then that had previously taken over Killersky and Windborn. They were rather open about her being a goddess.
“So everyone knows?” Alex asked.
“Pretty much. They can’t see me because of my veils, so they don’t know who I am or what I look like, but my presence is enough for them.”
Alex nodded. “And they need it, I suppose,” he said. “Speaking of which, I feel like you would know the answer, so I have to ask. Do the demons believe there is a war coming soon?”
