Capítulo 496: Ch-496:Jiang Ruoxi (2)

“Anyway, enough about them. Why have you visited me? Shouldn’t you be busy attending to guests or doing some other task, like keeping troublemakers in line?” Jiang Ruoxi asked with a raised eyebrow, looking at the old man in front of her, who was wearing a sly smile.

“Hehe, of course I should, but there is another matter I thought it best to inform you of,” the old man said. Seeing his expression, Jiang Ruoxi could not help but twitch her lips.

‘This expression… this is the same expression he makes before dropping a bomb that leaves me shocked or annoyed,’ Jiang Ruoxi thought as she rubbed her temples with her fingers.

“Alright, spit it out, old man,” Jiang Ruoxi said in a calm voice.

Instead of replying, he brought out a jar of pills—the same one containing the high-grade pills that Wang Ming had given for the auction.

“Pills?” Jiang Ruoxi furrowed her eyebrows and looked at him questioningly.

“This jar contains Golden Core Realm breakthrough pills,” the old man said. Immediately, Jiang Ruoxi’s eyelids contracted, and she jumped from her sitting position.

“What? Golden Core Realm pills?” Jiang Ruoxi shouted. She looked at the pills and then at the old man, asking for confirmation, to which he nodded.

“How many are there in the jar?” Jiang Ruoxi asked in a serious voice.

“Young miss, there are at least fifty-six pills in total,” the old man said with a smile.

“Fifty-six of them?!” Jiang Ruoxi could not help but exclaim. Even in the past decade, the total amount sold had not exceeded one hundred, but now more than half that number sat right in front of her.

“Do I need to also go out with whoever the person is who put this up for auction? No, this item could easily enter the top 20, not the top 10. There is no need,” Jiang Ruoxi thought, then looked at the old man suspiciously.

“Grandpa Seven should not have visited me because it’s just Golden Core Realm breakthrough pills.”Jiang Ruoxi frowned. Even though these were rare, it was not enough for him to personally visit her for this. But then she suddenly paused as a thought struck her.

“Could these be mid-quality pills?” Jiang Ruoxi asked with nervousness and anticipation, but was disappointed when the old man shook his head.

“No, these are high-grade pills,” the old man said in a teasing voice.

“High grade!!!!!” The young lady nearly fell on her butt when she heard the quality of the pills he was carrying and even doubted that she had misheard. Despite over a hundred years of business, not even the Jiang Auction House had ever sold so many high-grade pills—especially breakthrough pills, the most sought-after pills—at once before.

“I see,” Jiang Ruoxi mumbled, and then her expression darkened.

“Damn it. I just came back after going out with those annoying pests, and now these pills are going to enter the top items, maybe even the top three. Doesn’t that mean one of the top ten items is about to get replaced? I accompanied one of them for no reason, and now I also have to accompany another one. Damn it,” Jiang Ruoxi cursed and even regretted her younger days when she had used this method to attract customers.

“Young Miss, are you worried about this matter? Can you not go?” the old man asked, bewildered.

“Heh, if I don’t go, wouldn’t my reputation take a hit?” Jiang Ruoxi replied in annoyance.

“I think you don’t need to worry. He did not ask about you like the others, and I think he does not know about this matter,” the old man said with a strange look.

“Eh, really?” Jiang Ruoxi asked, and her expression brightened when she saw the old man nod.

“Young Miss, you should still visit him, as this item will surely rank at the top,” the old man said, which amused her and caused her to raise an eyebrow and curl her lips.

“Not really. The top place is reserved for something else, and even the Wu Family is making an appearance at the auction,” Jiang Ruoxi said.

“What? The royal family? Are you serious?” the old man exclaimed.

His shock was not unreasonable, as the royal family rarely visited auctions. They had rare and high-quality treasures inside their personal treasury, and even if they were interested, they would usually send representatives instead.

“Young Miss, what item is being auctioned?” the old man asked curiously.

“Items, not item, Grandpa Seven,” Jiang Ruoxi said with a smile, which caused him to squint his eyes.

“More specifically, the thing is not an item but a pass to a place,” Jiang Ruoxi said.

—

While everyone in the auction hall was filled with joy and excitement, the atmosphere in a large room at the Zhang Clan residence was completely different.

A large group of people gathered in the room and sat on chairs arranged like a round table, and in the middle there was an old man who was sweating bullets.

“So, Seventh Elder, do you know why you were summoned?” a man spoke in a calm voice, but the authority in his tone was unquestionable. The others who heard his voice felt their hearts tighten and could only glare at the Seventh Elder.

“I… I know, Leader,” the Seventh Elder spoke, swallowing hard. His voice cracked like dry glass.

“So, why did your grandson cause this commotion? Didn’t I say to harass the Tang Family in a controlled manner and not go overboard? So why was it that your grandson killed someone in the city? Honestly, I would not have cared much for killing insects, but how dare he do this when I forbade from drawing too much attention, hmm?” The voice sounded angry and cold.

“Leader, ahhh, forgive me. I did not educate him properly.” Everyone trembled when they saw the leader raise his hand, and the Seventh Elder found himself dangling helplessly in the air, unable to resist.
