Chapter 441: Father, we wish to sleep in the Sanctuary.

“So you will not have any problems if we made these changes…?”

Aelindra questioned with a somewhat surprised look on her face. She didn’t think it would be as easy as this and was prepared for hours-long confrontations and negotiations.

“As I said, as long as it is the Elderlies holding the charge, it doesn’t matter. You can rotate the elders, create the elder’s council choosing elders from different blocks, create a different morning crew, afternoon crew, and evening crew or anything else you wish.

I have noticed the elders overworking themselves because there is no clear system, so I was actually planning to come to you to manage it all. It is great that you came here yourself.”

Kael answered with a nod.

“You… were planning to come to me?”

Aelindra blinked.

“Of course, who else would I go to? You are the Warden of Provisions, all of this is your duty to begin with. You don’t get to be lazy just because I am handling things, in fact, I’d rather you overwork yourself.”

Kael answered jokingly.

“I’d… I’d rather not do that…”

Aelindra replied with an awkward smile.

Those words seemed harsh, but for some reason, they inwardly made her glad. After what happened today, she felt a clear wall being made between Kael and Lavinia and the old Council Members.

She thought that it would make things between them complicated, especially for her, who was ordered to cooperate with them. For a moment, she even thought the Matriarch was using her as a test to see how Kael and Lavinia were going to react from this moment forth.

Not to mention she was also afraid that this would sour her personal relationship with the two, something she did not want as well.

After all, with all things said and done, in the end, she was a Mage, a Mage who wanted to improve further and explore Magic. She had gotten quite close to Lavinia from all the lectures she had attended and didn’t wish to lose a friend and a teacher.

But…

Seeing how Kael quickly agreed to all her demands, she couldn’t help but smile brightly and sigh in relief.

It was just as she expected, it wasn’t Kael that was too unreasonable, he was simply pushed too far and finally decided to take a stand for himself. Aelindra was sure she would have done the same, if not worse, if she was in his stead.

“I am joking, of course.”

Kael laughed at Aelindra’s reaction. Then, he looked at the woman with a genuine look on his face and—

“I really hope you take care of these things though, the elderlies shouldn’t move much at the age they are in. They may be doing all this with smiles on their faces, but they are pushing themselves. There is an urgent need to create a proper system, something that only you can do.”

“Give me a day, I will take care of everything.”

Aelindra nodded with a confident look on her face.

“A day…?”

Kael blinked. He obviously knew this should take at least a few days, soon however, a deadpan look appeared on his face and—

“Are you planning on overworking yourself again?”

“What do you take me for? I am only thirty-eight, I am still young, so I can do it!”

Aelindra replied as she patted her biceps, showing just how strong and reliable she was.

“…this isn’t about your age.”

Kael didn’t even know what to say.

“You need to stop overworking yourself, you are barely getting any sleep these days. If things continue like this, you will collapse from exhaustion.”

“I-I slept enough yesterday.”

Aelindra nodded with a light stutter and Kael just stared at her with a flat look, his face looked like he was saying ‘Really? You really think you can lie to me? Did you forget who I am?’

Aelindra too, understood that look as well and she began to stutter.

“Y-You should not use your powers in such a way!”

“I will be watching you, Elder Aelindra. If you do not rest for a complete day after setting up the Elders’ kitchen, I will be knocking on your doors and force you to.”

Kael replied seriously.

“Yes, Yes, I will rest once I am done with this, I promise.”

Aelindra nodded, she then stood up from her seat, preparing to leave since she didn’t want a man nearly half her age lecturing her like this.

“I will prepare a plan and document all the changes by the morning, you will then have about 4 hours to read and understand the document. If you have anything to say about it, you will then come to me, we will figure things out, find a common ground, and me and Tarevian will implement the changes by the night, is that clear?”

“Yes.”

Kael nodded as he and Lavinia stood up and walked the Warden of Provision to the door.

“Good, then I will be taking my leave now,

Have a good rest.”

The woman nodded as she quickly moved out.

For a moment, both Kael and Lavinia remained silent as they watched her leave, until finally—

“She works too hard.”

Kael commented.

“She is the same in class, asks most of the questions and absorbs new things at the fastest rate. I do not know how she manages all that with the amount of work she does.”

Lavinia nodded as well.

Because the two of them knew Aelindra’s ‘schedule’, their respect for her was even stronger. Honestly, Aelindra was one of the few people they actually had quite a lot of faith in, so they were quite happy when Imperia told them about how Aelindra, along with Korvath, had stood up for them today in the courtyard.

“We should get to work as well.”

Lavinia muttered as she turned towards Kael.

Their day still wasn’t over, they had already given the dinner rations to the elderlies, it was now time for them to go to Roan’s and write to their ‘God.’

A lot had happened today, but many things weren’t public, so in the message, Lavinia only talked about how the families of the dead soldiers were shaken and how something happened in the Elders Hall and Lord Dragon blew away the ceiling.

And as it had been happening all this time, no information regarding the Elderlies’ kitchen distributing food for free was given. In the eyes of the ‘God’, the Velmourns were still starving themselves to some extent and were constantly ‘praying’ for more food to survive the winter.

The plan was simple, they wanted to catch the enemy by surprise by manipulating the information they got.

Another surprising thing was that during this week, the Ant did not notice any other traitor or spy passing any kind of information to anyone.

Lavinia actually found it hard to believe, but with the Ants tailing every single being and reporting anything even slightly suspicious, there was nothing else she could do.

At the very least, if there was another spy or traitor, he hadn’t since Kael had become the Warden of Vigilance.

Anyways, after they were done reporting, Kael and Lavinia returned to their homes and began their own training. They had already eaten together with the elderlies, so focusing on their strength was all that was left.

After training for about three hours, at midnight, the two finally decided to sleep and today, something surprising happened again—

“Father, we wish to sleep in the Sanctuary.”

Vitaria spoke with a big smile on her face.

“…what?”

Kael blinked.

“Again?”

He asked as he stared at the Fox, who continued to smile with reassuring nods, and then Cirri, who clearly seemed unwilling but was standing on her sister’s side without making any fuss.

He then glanced at his oldest, the Dragon too, nodded reassuringly, though he didn’t seem as excited as the Fox.

“Also, where is Nyrri?”

He questioned as he raised his eyebrow, he tried to look into the Sanctuary, but his senses were blocked.

“Don’t worry, I have taken care of hi—I have put him to sleep, he was too tired after spending all day with the elderlies.”

Vitaria explained.

Kael raised his eyebrows at those words, he slowly glanced at Imperia, but the Ant shrugged, shaking her big head as if saying ‘don’t ask me, I was with you for most of the day.’

In the end, Kael just stared at his children and—

“Just what are you all planning?”

He questioned with a tired sigh.

“Nothing, the night inside the Sanctuary is just prettier.”

The Fox answered as if she had prepared for it more than a hundred times.

“Plus, we also need to talk to brother about something.”

She answered, glancing at Igni, who didn’t say anything and just stared at his Father.

Kael and Igni stared at each other for a while, probably having a silent conversation as Kael left the oldest in charge. Igni nodded again and finally—

“Alright.”

Kael agreed.

“Mm.”

Vitaria nodded as she opened the portal, forcing Cirri to move. After Cirri, it was Igni’s turn, and before Vitaria stepped in, she glanced at the youngest daughter and—

“What are you waiting for?

Come in.”

She spoke, her purple eyes shining… threateningly?
