Divine Emperor of Death - Chapter 4697
Chapter 4697: Aila’s Intentions
“Davis~”
In the heart of the colossal cherry lotus, Aila stood before the pinkish layer of barrier erected by the cherry lotus.
Davis descended before her, his expression intrigued.
While the cherry lotus also protected her, it didn’t let her out, presumably until she managed to bind it. It was strange, considering Bylai didn’t mention it to him.
“Aila… are you safe here?” Davis asked.
If her answer was no, he was thinking of breaking this barrier regardless of the backlash and then help Aila forcefully bind this plant lifeform.
“I am safe~” Aila giggled cheerfully, “Of course, this barrier is in place because I had probably subconsciously willed it while binding this treasure.”
Davis blinked, “Why?”
Aila raised her hands to hide her veiled face with her palms, “Because I could sense my surroundings vaguely, and I knew you were here. However, I was so close to binding it and almost had it ninety-nine percent, so I dared not lose focus.”
“Oh…”
Davis had thought it was the colossal cherry lotus’s doing since it was just an instinctual lifeform that wanted to be together with Aila.
If she couldn’t bind me, why not just let her stay here?- would be its instinctual course of action.
Still, Davis teasingly smiled, “So my presence invited your failure.”
“Of course not!” Aila looked aggrieved. She pouted, “There is no other honor than being graced by your presence for me. However, this… this is also important for my cultivation.”
Her lower lip puckered out as though she was going to cry, “Without this, I can’t hope to reach my sisters in combat prowess.”
“Haha.” Davis couldn’t help but laugh.
Mira was also dejected that those little spirits surpassed her, becoming an Empyrean Spirit and an Exalt Spirit. Naturally, Celestial Fairies who possessed not only beauty but a battle intent to clench the first position were highly competitive.
Aila pouted more before she smiled cheerfully, her hands gesturing, “Don’t worry. This time, I’m confident that I can completely bind it. This last session should last for no more than a month.”
Davis went silent as he contemplated. It seemed like she didn’t want his help.
“As long as you’re safe.” After some time, he nodded.
His worry was that even though she was protected, what if the colossal cherry lotus had bad intentions? Who would protect her then?
Bylai and Myria wouldn’t be here, nor would he, since he would leave.
A while ago, he used Heart Intent to probe the colossal cherry lotus’s reaction to Aila. Even though he could only vaguely sense it, he felt it was overjoyed in her presence. A lifeform without a soul was truly a pitiful existence. All it could do was develop a dependent relationship with the source of energy it liked, which happened to be Aila’s Mutated Silken Cherry Physique.
If Aila wanted to leave, it wouldn’t be able to bar her path since she had technically had an initial mastery over it and could control it to perform attacks.
If it weren’t for this, he wouldn’t have accepted her decision and tried to convince her to accept his help.
They continued to talk, with Davis informing her of the events that had happened before briefly.
Aila was increasingly shocked. She had been absent for an entire year since she was busy trying to bind this plant lifeform, but during this time, a lot of things seemed to have happened.
“Ah~ Even Xiu Juili has entered the harem…? That serpent-vixen…”
Aila gnashed her teeth as she heard their story, feeling the heat. She gazed at Davis, her expression aggrieved, “You… you cannot be intimate with her before me…”
“That’s my intention as well.” Davis didn’t tease her.
If it were any other time, he might’ve said ‘it depends on her’, but with a barrier in between, he didn’t want to agitate his cheery Aila.
Aila’s expression went through all sorts of emotions until he mentioned his intentions, making her feel relieved. She cast a grateful gaze at him before nodding.
“Xiu Juili is fine. I was a bit peeved with her since she had gotten in my way earlier a few times.”
“Just make sure that she doesn’t have ulterior motives, but I guess you would’ve already done that, considering how you were all initially cautious against me.” She giggled, “So you’re now going to see Fairy Thunderblaze and explore the Shard Continent. Understood, please be safe. I’ll await your return with a welcoming heart for Xiu Juili.”
“I deeply appreciate that, Aila.” Davis couldn’t help but smile.
Other than security and intimacy, his top priority always had been the harmony of the harem.
If they fought or had irreconcilable differences, his heart would crack and his body would crumble.
“Oh, right,” Davis remembered to tell her about the [Velvet Moon Allure Scripture].
“A charm-attributed Exalt Grade Cultivation Manual?” Aila’s brows raised in surprise, “Seems interesting. I’ll look into it after returning to the fortress.”
“Good. Right now, the others are going crazy over it, hoping to take advantage of the manual ideas to incorporate in their own.”
Davis chuckled.
Aila wryly smiled, not doubting that she also had the same intentions.
Regardless, with so many things having happened, including the inclusion of Xiu Juili, it made her far more motivated to succeed in binding the colossal cherry lotus this time.
Soon, Davis bid farewell to Aila.
The binding process couldn’t be stopped for a long time, or she would have to start from the beginning, in which case only Davis could help her, or she might take half a year.
Only after watching Aila begin the process and appearing safe did Davis leave. Until then, he remained concealed in the skies.
Quickly, he returned to Bylai and bid farewell to her and the others. One of the magical beasts mining also made a report to him about the whereabouts of the Hexadra Clan, so he went there and wreaked havoc, killing over eight of them before they could even see what was going on.
He soulscoured them and was pleasantly surprised to see what he expected to happen.
The Nine-Headed Hydra Clan, which was called the Nyssadra Clan, hired the Hexadra Clan to investigate what happened to one of their members who possessed the replica of the Hell Poison Gem.
It made him laugh.
Without caring, he then headed to the Mountain-Sea Painting Shard Region – Shard Continent’s spatial vortex and entered it-
“…”
-only to find Fairy Thunderblaze staying a few hundred meters away.
She was seated against the edge of a giant tree branch and raised her hand, waving at him with a knowing smile.
“Took you long enough.” She jumped and descended, landing in front of him.
“If you didn’t arrive in two more days, I was about to go find you.”
Davis was speechless.
He turned to look above and saw Rioxys Plume on the head of the Eternal Eclipse Bird. Her gaze seemed to be joyful as she made the bird fly around. Rioxys Plume didn’t seem to care about Fairy Thunderblaze’s existence.
Evidently, these two had met before, probably in the past eight years, when his family’s expedition team and Fairy Thunderblaze first met up in the Shard World.
“I thought you were with Ophirya?” Davis looked around, failing to find her.
Fairy Thunderblaze nodded, “I was with her, and we managed to find a few treasures with her divination abilities. However, the grade isn’t up to my liking, so I bid farewell and took some rest inside the Mountain-Sea Painting Shard Region, waiting for you to appear.”
Davis nodded in an understanding manner.
Even if the diviner was great, with their combat prowess low, there wasn’t much they could do. Traveling in the Shard Continent was also an exhausting endeavor.
He looked up and opened his mouth, “Rioxys, I and this crimson-purple robed lady would like to explore the Shard Continent. Would you like to come along with us and help us explore and gain treasures?”
“…” Fairy Thunderblaze’s heart shook.
As expected, Davis had also met with Rioxys Plume. That Eternal Eclipse Bird under the control of the spirit was the evidence. She recognized the Davis Family now had an extremely powerful Exalt-level character in their ranks, making her truly feel small.
Although her own sect had also produced an Exalt character, she didn’t have any relation with that character, nor did she think she could command them.
But now, Davis was communicating with such a powerful spirit. What if it was suddenly disinterested or irritated and killed Davis in one move? Wasn’t he scared, or at least careful? His tone was as though he was talking to someone extremely familiar.
Rioxys Plume stopped flying with the Eternal Eclipse Bird.
It was unknown how many times she had circled this place around and scared the humans, magical beasts, and spirits alike. She felt it was full of fun.
Hearing Davis’s question, her eyes gleamed, but she blinked, “But Bylai instructed me not to leave this place for my own good.”
“It’s fine.” Davis chuckled, “I have Bylai’s permission.”
Rioxys Plume’s brows raised with joy, “Then…”
