Chapter 636: Welcome to Danthelion

The sky opened in a spectacle of colors and contrasts. The mist that shrouded the horizon slowly cleared, revealing the magnitude of the continent that loomed before them.

It was immense—larger than any of them could have imagined. The mountains, with snow-capped peaks and shrouded in veils of cloud, rose like insurmountable walls. Between their valleys, silver rivers slid in wide curves, reflecting the sun like liquid sheets. Vast forests covered the land in a deep green, pulsating with life. Here and there, clearings revealed crystal-clear lakes, so large they could be mistaken for seas.

And beyond, golden patches betrayed endless deserts, contrasting with ice-covered regions, where glaciers glittered like mirrors in the distance. The air, even hundreds of meters above sea level, seemed to vibrate with raw energy, as if the continent itself were breathing, testing the invaders who dared to cross its territory.

Daniela was the first to speak, her eyes shining with childlike wonder.

“It’s… it’s so immense… how can something like that exist?”

Bellatrix and Cassandra, more restrained, couldn’t hide their fascination. The former clenched her fists, as if she couldn’t wait to explore, while the latter frowned, alert, as if already calculating the dangers hidden in the vastness.

Frieren remained silent, but her gaze roamed every detail of the landscape, sensing deep within that this land was different. Wild. Untamed.

Scarlet, however, said nothing. Her mouth set in a hard line, and though the wind stirred her red hair like flames, she seemed motionless, almost rigid. Memories throbbed within her, old and painful, but she kept them bottled up, not answering the silent questions that still hung in the air.

Strax, unhurried, began to descend. Its colossal wings arced open, creating whirlwinds that shook the treetops as it approached the forest. The sound was deafening—a thunderclap repeated with each strike. Finally, its talons touched the ground, crushing roots and rocks, and a deep roar echoed, not of anger, but of authority.

The landing shook the ground. The nearest trees toppled, unable to withstand the weight of the colossal creature. But as Strax lowered his body and his protective aura receded, the surroundings seemed to quiet, as if even the forest recognized the arrival of something that could not be challenged.

“Get down.” His voice reverberated low, not like an aggressive order, but like a certainty.

One by one, they descended from his back. Scarlet was the first, leaping with the grace of someone accustomed to always landing on their feet. Daniela, still stunned, ran to feel the ground beneath her feet, like a child confronting something new. Cassandra and Bellatrix descended side by side, exchanging tense glances—the anger at their mother’s inaction still echoed in them.

Beatrice followed with gentle steps, her clear eyes absorbing every detail of the new land. Monica landed close behind, smoothing her wind-torn hair. Samira took a deep breath, closing her eyes to feel the energy of the forest. Tiamat landed firmly, her dragon aura vibrating slightly in tune with Strax’s. Kali slid to the ground like a living shadow, almost soundless.

Xenovia, more practical, adjusted her sword on her back and began to survey the surroundings with a warrior’s eyes. Cristine, restless, stayed close to Strax, as if seeking reassurance from him. Ouroboros leaped heavily, her monstrous presence blending into the hostile environment. Xyn and Rogue followed, exchanging careful glances, as if sizing up the territory. Finally, Frieren descended gently, her aura calm but her eyes still fixed on the horizon.

Now they were all gathered on the ground of the new land. The air felt different, denser, charged with energy. The wind blew through the trees, but there was something in it—almost like a presence watching them.

Strax lifted her head, her nostrils flaring black smoke as her voice echoed through the trees:

“We will find a place to settle in this new land.”

No one dared to argue. There was something final in her words, as if the decision had already been written before they were even spoken.

It was then that Scarlet, until then silent, finally spoke. Her voice was deep, heavy with memories and a sincerity she rarely displayed.

“This continent…” she began, and that alone made Cassandra and Bellatrix turn their eyes to her intensely. “It’s called Danthelion.”

The surrounding trees swayed at the sound of the name, as if even the forest recognized the word.

Scarlet continued, her voice growing heavier:

“Here, the strongest survive. There are no rules, no laws. Only power. And only those who can master it enough can establish something that lasts.”

She took a deep breath, her eyes distant, almost teary, but her expression remained firm.

“I lived here… for one hundred and twenty years. Long before I adopted you three.” Her gaze fell on Bellatrix, Cassandra, and Daniela.

The three froze.

“What…?” Bellatrix was the first to break the silence, her voice deep, almost a growl. “You… lived here? And you never told anyone?”

Cassandra frowned, her fists clenched. “One hundred years… in this place?” Her voice trembled, not with fear, but with frustration. “You led us to believe you knew only a little more than we did. And now you discover you have centuries of experience here?”

Daniela fell silent, her eyes wide. Her breathing quickened, but she couldn’t say anything.

Scarlet lifted her chin, silently accepting the accusation. She didn’t defend herself. She didn’t apologize. She didn’t justify herself. She simply held her daughters’ gaze with the strength of someone who has faced unimaginable horrors and survived.

Strax watched her silently. His expression wasn’t one of surprise, but of confirmation. He already knew. Now, however, the pieces were beginning to fall into place for everyone.

Scarlet closed her eyes for a moment, before opening them again, her voice firmer:

“Danthelion isn’t like the places you know. Here, every creature, every tribe, every nation… kills and devours the weak. It’s a land of endless wars. When you look at the mountains, the forests, the deserts… know that every piece is stained with blood.”

She took a step forward, letting the memories come flooding back. “I survived here. I fought, I killed, I fled… and I learned. For one hundred and twenty years. And when I finally left, I thought I would never set foot on these lands again.”

Her daughters fell silent. Cassandra still looked furious, Bellatrix bit her lip, and Daniela had tears in her eyes.

Scarlet, however, didn’t back down.

“If you want to hate me for not telling you… do so. But know this: nothing I could say could prepare you for Danthelion.”

She fell silent, and the wind roared through the trees again.

Strax took a few steps, his draconic form still immense before them all, and dug his claws into the ground, his voice reverberating like thunder:

“Then it will be here. This continent will test us. We will build our kingdom… in the heart of Danthelion.”

The silence that followed was crushing. Each of them knew this would not just be a journey, but a war against the world itself.

And all of them, in one way or another, accepted their fate.
