Capítulo 714: Dad, I want to go in the dungeon!
Asmodeus silently stood in the centre of the forest, around him the beautiful flora and grass reverting to its previous grace. He glanced back at the party before suddenly covering his face with his palm.
Black veins bulged under his flesh as a thick, rebellious energy seeped through his body from the Lich’s essence he devoured. “Ngh…”
He bit his lip with both hands clenched tightly, his teeth sinking deeper to create a sharp pain that overwrote the dull ache in his arms, throat and legs. It almost felt as if something was blocking the blood from travelling through his veins.
The pressure built, causing his neck and chest to turn red, while the muscles in his arms undulated and cramped.
“Phew…”
With a deep sigh, he calmed himself.
“Lad, is everything over?” Logan shouted from the opposite forest, his low voice barely entering Asmodeus’s ears as he struggled to maintain a normal expression.
“Yeah, it’s fine. Let’s hurry and get ready to keep moving.”
The old dwarf and Nerim both looked at each other with a look of confusion. Although the fight wasn’t some world-ending battle, both of them knew it wasn’t as simple as Asmodeus made it sound.
‘The death energy is fighting against my divine and abyssal aura…’
Asmodeus grit his teeth, pushing himself through the pain. With every step, it felt as if someone grabbed his muscles and tore them off the bone. The pain was sharp, like lightning striking his body from the inside.
“Logan, I think he’s pushing himself…”
“Yer right lass, but what can we do? That lad seems unwilling to show his suffering.”
“Well, he can be an idiot when he wants to.”
Despite Nerim’s complaints, her chest tightened while watching him desperately hiding his slight limp when walking towards them.
He smiled at her as usual with a handsome and bright grin, but she couldn’t help but hope he would take some time to rest.
‘Even during the month in Francel, he never stopped.’
Meanwhile, Asmodeus couldn’t afford to think; the clash of four different energies inside him caused the delicate balance to shatter. His organs felt twisted, muscles torn, and bones creaked as more energy than possible flooded them.
His body became a living glass tube, constantly filled with steel balls.
Only a few more and he’d reach the limit.
“Asmodeus?”
Nerim called out as she rushed from the forest, hugging his chest tight.
The moment he felt her soft mounds crushed against his chest, a soothing warmth spread from her cool skin. Her water aura, which formed several snakes during combat, now flooded his body.
Asmodeus couldn’t help but clench her back, almost tearing her dancer dress, as the sharp pain of her water colliding with the death and abyssal energies transformed into a volatile and violent jolt of lightning.
‘Oh..?’
His eyes opened wide, feeling a mysterious, soothing sensation as the water from Nerim’s body gathered and slowly enveloped the death energy that was continuously destroying his cells from the inside.
That’s when he noticed the little hands of this cheeky woman slipping into his clothes, rubbing and caressing his muscles.
“You’re playing with fire, little mermaid.”
“Hmmm~ what ever do you mean, I am just making sure there’s no internal damage.”
With a subtle giggle, she gently continued to massage his abdomen. The cooling waves of her water magic healed both damage and fatigue while purifying the damage caused by the death energy and fighting them relentlessly.
“Well, if that’s what you say, maybe I can help check you later.”
Her little mouth opened wide as she understood his dirty little joke.
‘Since she accepted that inheritance, this girl became so feisty and seductive.’
In reality, since meeting the Arbiter, who showed him the strange illusion and desperately tried to entice him. Asmodeus believed that this little water fairy could easily tempt him with a few words.
“Behave, there’s so long left till we arrive…”
Nerim narrowed her eyes as she sensed the dark, mysterious energy fading and becoming more obedient as it mixed with his other three powers. “It seems that I’ve helped you grow stronger again, what are you going to reward me this time?”
Even though she finished, Nerim didn’t let go. She just glanced up at his face with a charming smile.
“Ahem!” Logan cleared his throat and glanced at the two with a cold glance. “Lad, shouldn’t we hurry and move along?”
Logan wasn’t jealous; he knew the annoyance relationships brought, and the mother of Thorim was enough for him. Since losing her, he just enjoyed the company of tavern wenches and the blacksmithing hammer attached to his belt.
It shocked him how the tomboy Nerim, whom he had met a while before, suddenly became such a soft and charming woman after meeting Asmodeus. He worried at first they might clash, but never did he think she’d fall for him like a little maiden.
But romance ruined most parties, and he didn’t want to lose this one.
“Well, the old man is a little annoying, hmph.” Nerim pulled away, swaying her hips like a snake to tease the man who teased her.
“Behave, the old man is just doing what’s best for us.”
Asmodeus didn’t get angry; he wasn’t that desperate. Each night, he’d return to his wives and enjoy their little games together. This helped greatly in controlling his overwhelming lust and desires as a demon god.
‘Though I don’t think I can keep refusing her for much longer…’
Their bodies became closer with each meeting, and something he didn’t notice until just now was the effect her water had on him.
What shocked him was that it didn’t show such an effect when she healed the other party members, or played with Vivi at night… it was just him and his energy that slowly synthesised and became harmonised with her aura.
‘This thing is pretty nice.’
He thought while closing his eyes to observe the small orb of death, which now hovered inside his divine core.
The moment her waters swallowed and condensed the death aura remaining in his body, it flushed through his bones, muscles, veins, flesh and finally reached his core, creating a tiny black bead that shone beautifully like a gemstone.
Despite his attempt to touch or use the power, Asmodeus failed… the only thing he could sense was that if he pushed himself to the limit, this tiny little orb would surely be revealed at that moment.
‘Well, I should treat her well for this wonderful gain.’
“You’re right, old man, let’s head out. I’m fine to start now. We need to reach Handberg in the next two days. There’s a small village and a dungeon on the way, although we don’t have to clear it, but why not try to get some gains… while we’re there.”
“Hmmm… but lad we can’t waste too much time.”
“True, but you guys don’t want to keep rushing right? We used a bit too much to slay that Lich, and restocking needs money.”
Regarding the party, Zahir and Thorim usually remained silent unless they were needed to speak; it was Nerim, Asmodeus and Logan who said the most.
“Also, I wanted to help Vivi gain some level’s in the dungeon. Although she’s young… it will help her when her adoptive family pick her up.”
“Ah!?” Vivi exclaimed at her mention. She peeked from behind Thorim and glared at Asmodeus with sharp eyes. “Don’t you like me anymore!? Stinky Brother!”
He coughed and shook his hand.
“No, remember I told you that someone wanted to help look after you.”
Nerim’s lips curled into a sly smirk as she watched the man who teased her being played for a fool by the little bear child.
“I won’t go!”
“You will.”
“I want to be with you, I’m not going!”
“Heh, you just want to stay with Nerim who pamper’s you, don’t lie child!”
“Heeeeh~ dad is being mean to me.”
The moment she called him dad, even as a joke. Asmodeus took heavy damage; to him, the biggest weakness wasn’t his wives but the cute little children he tucked in each night. From the proud and confident Ryusei to his cute Nyxielle and the lovable Seris.
He couldn’t help but lift Vivi from Thorim’s arms and hug her close to his chest. He knew she was a fake little bear, but this was how he was now.
Children were just too important to him.
Especially those he planned to raise as his own, this was something he planned to discuss with Gretel… after getting permission from Serena and the other wives.
‘That reminds me… Celia and those two girls I should treat them well.’
In reality, because of their work and current situation, he’d missed meeting a few of his wives several times over the past month, which annoyed him.
Ciela, who often moved between the elven empire and Lumeria, didn’t have the time to visit Asmodeus each night like the others. “Sylwen…. that cute little girl how much has she grown in the past few months…”
Because Sylwen wasn’t a demon, but born as a special race of elf that hadn’t been seen in millennia, she needed to visit the world tree often to gather and gain energy to grow stronger and adapt to the world.
‘Maybe I should speak to those annoying twin goddesses of the world tree. Can they help with this?’
His daughter was born weaker than the others now, but once she’d absorbed enough of the divine aura from the world tree, she’d experience explosive growth.
The discussion continued between the group as they decided on what to do. Asmodeus remained still, his eyes closed while thinking of his daughters and wives, only to snap out of it thanks to them calling him.
“Asmodeus?”
“Brother?”
Because he’d been lost in his thoughts, he found that both Nerim and Vivi, now sitting in his arms, looked up at him worriedly.
“Well, shall we head out then?”
“Eh, we’re already going. What about the plans?” Nerim asked while following his back.
“Let’s see where the road takes us, right Old man?”
“Hahaha! Sure, that sounds good.”
Thorim and Zahir looked at each other and shrugged. They didn’t quite understand the adults of their group, but knowing how powerful Asmodeus was stopped them from complaining or suggesting otherwise.
“First stop, the little village for some food!”
“Yeah, food!”
Asmodeus pointed towards the sun in the sky, while Vivi in his arms mimicked his voice and did the same.
‘This little kid…’
He might be harsh to her, but he couldn’t deny that he wanted to protect her, especially after hearing about the past from the other children.
‘To think she could have escaped much sooner, but only chose to do so when it was really impossible…’
He couldn’t help but ruffle her messy hair and hug her tight.
The little blue oni frowned with a little pout, but neither of them would probably leave the other if asked.
“Dad, I want to go in the dungeon. Let’s go? I can fight!”
