Chapter 300: Mokah.

“Uncle… Mokha?”

Caera’s body trembled.

A man had appeared out of nowhere, smiling like an idiot as he casually mocked her grandfather just as he always used to.

But something was off.

His features were distorted, subtly wrong but the presence… the voice… and more than anything else, that unmistakable smile, it was enough.

“How have you been, my little storm?”

His voice wavered as hesitation slipped through as his gaze lingered on her. He could only imagine how much she had suffered.

He, too, had endured countless eons trapped in that space where even time held no meaning.

But to him, she was still just a child.

A child he had once held in his arms the moment she was born.

A child he had personally taught rhythm just to mock the chaos his sister loved.

And a child he had failed to protect… when it had truly mattered.

How could he place his own suffering above hers?

Even calling her little storm like he used to before felt unbearably heavy.

He had expected hatred, blame and even anger for everything she had endured.

He was ready to accept it all as he believed he deserved it but instead, warmth surrounded him as Caera had stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him.

She didn’t say a single word and simply sobbed against his chest as if pouring out the story of countless centuries of loneliness, pain and loss through each broken breath.

And he held her, patting her back, reassuring her that he would make everything right from now on.

—

After a long while, Caera’s sobs finally stopped. After telling everything about what had happened till now, she finally calmed down and the hall fell silent once more until her grandfather spoke.

“Where…” He paused, then continued, his voice calm… too calm. “Where have you been all these years, Mokah?”

“Tch.” Mokah clicked his tongue. “Old man, you are still terrible at expressing yourself.” A crooked grin spread across his face. “You could’ve just said you missed me or something, you know.”

But then, his smile faded.

“As for where I was…” His eyes darkened. “Even I don’t know exactly where that place was.”

He exhaled slowly. “All I know is that it had already been eroded by the energy of the Chasm. Everything within that space felt alive and dead at same time”

The air felt heavier as even Eidon’s eyes narrowed at the mention of chasm.

“HE didn’t kill me,” Mokah continued, his voice flat. “Instead, he forced me to judge people on the condition that he would release me if even one of them managed to defeat me.”

Caera’s fingers curled.

“Those who failed…” Mokah said quietly. “…were trapped in that chasmic space for eternity, harvested as nothing more than an energy source.”

“How did you escape…?”

This time, it wasn’t Eidon who asked, it was Caera. Her voice trembled ever so slightly as if she already feared the answer.

Mokah lowered his head.

“I didn’t.” He said quietly. “No matter how I struggled… no matter what I tried… escape was impossible.”

He took a brief pause.

“Not until a candidate actually defeated me.”

He slowly raised his eyes, meeting both Eidon’s and Caera’s gazes.

“That candidate was… strange.”

His brow furrowed as memories resurfaced.

“He used a loophole.”

Mokah exhaled.

“Others had tried exploiting loopholes before. They challenged me in things meant to be failed like painting something ugly or cooking a disastrous meal.”

A faint scoff.

“I beat them all the same.”

Then his expression darkened.

“But when that boy challenged me to a dance battle… I should have beaten him by dancing poorly but then something weird happened.”

His fists clenched.

“In that moment, the restraints I always felt came loose and I could move however I wanted and so I danced perfectly even on an imperfect melody in the hope that I could finally be free.”

Mokah swallowed.

“And as I had expected, the boy won.”

“But what truly shocked me was… that the boy who defeated me used Dance of Chaos.”

Caera’s eyes trembled.

“What was his name…?”

The words slipped from Caera’s lips unconsciously as if her heart had spoken before her mind could stop it.

Mokah shook his head slowly.

“I never asked.” He said calmly.

Then his gaze sharpened.

“But from everything you have told me… if my guess is correct then it was definitely Alden.”

Caera froze.

“And those restraints I felt didn’t loosen randomly…” Mokah continued, voice steady but heavy. “It was the Star of Ruination that wanted Alden to win.”

Silence crashed down upon the hall once again.

“But why would HE do that?” Caera asked in a trembling voice.

Eidon and Mokah’s expressions hardened as even they couldn’t comprehend what HE was planning and why he willingly let Mokah escape.

But they could see the pattern now.

The people Alden had met outside of Eryndor… they were never random.

Gretta.

Caera.

And then, Mokah himself.

It was as if HE was mocking fate itself by placing Alden in front of those who should have stood beside him long ago… Only to rip them away, one by one.

“I don’t know, Caera?” Mokah answered truthfully. “I don’t know.”

—

After speaking for a while longer, Eidon, Caera and Mokah came to a decision.

They would return to their home world and formulate a proper plan to locate Eryndor and bring Alden back.

Mokah clenched his fist.

He still couldn’t believe he had failed to recognize his own nephew and yet… a faint smile tugged at his lips thinking how much Alden had grown and how much he reminded Mokah of his sister.

I’ll save you this time…

He vowed silently.

Even if it costs me my life.

This time, he wasn’t powerless like before when everything had been taken from them.

He was stronger now and surviving within that chasmic space for countless eons had given him a deeper understanding of rhythm than ever before.

They left the ship hovering near Eryndor, just in case the world manifested again and with a single motion, Eidon opened a portal back to their home world.

Mokah stepped through and in that very instant an attack came flying straight for his head.

His eyes sharpened as he caught the attack but the shockwave alone tore through the land behind him, obliterating an entire mountain range.

“Quite the explosive welcome I must say.”
