Nikita stepped into the bathroom before popping her head out and calling him, with a cheeky smile on her face.

She gripped the door and stared at him for several seconds.

He jumped off the bed and pretended to chase her, only to watch her vanish into the shower, making a cute squeal and the fading tap of her feet against the tiles.

“Alexei, Ryan, how are you feeling?”

The other two wore the same outfit, but with slight changes.

Ryan’s had more armour and a thicker fabric, while Nikolai’s was skin tight and flexible because of his transformations. Alexei didn’t have a transformed form and used one that prioritised defence over mobility.

“I’m good.”

“A little nervous, but thanks to these, I am great.” Ryan tapped the custom magnums on his waist, similar to Nikolai’s but with the basic silver bullets and a modification that made reloading much faster.

“How are the others?”

Leona sat in the passenger seat, tapping various keyboards and screens, and she spoke in code to two of the maid groups before finally turning back. “Master, the other knights have reached their destinations. Seraphina is also close to the back line ready to treat the wounded and escort non-combatants to safety.”

“Good work, Leo. What about the enemy movements?”

He glanced at the monitors, and the number of undead and bone saints appeared more than they had originally planned. Tonight, they would crush the companies they found to be fake or corrupt, and after that, Selene and the Scarlet Group would settle the official and legal issues that might pop up.

‘I can’t believe that Leona’s clone is this strong…’

Nikolai, Ryan, Alexei and five maids left the back of the van, their bodies hidden by the darkness of winter, along with the sudden blackout of all neon signs. The van itself hid in a small back road with dozens of guards who would serve as backup.

“There’s six targets tonight, we’re in charge of this one.” Nikolai pointed to the large tower, several blocks away from them.

“Looks dangerous, but I am quite excited!”

After learning about the dangers, Alexei became more focused.

He knew Nosferatu wanted his sister for their experiments, but it also seemed his lovely wife wasn’t safe either. But thanks to Nikolai guiding him, he could just focus on protecting his family. “It’s great to have a brother like you.”

“And what about me?” Ryan nudged Alexei with his shoulder.

Their group slipped into a small building, an abandoned restaurant unable to keep up with the protection fees. Nikolai stood in the centre, with Ryan and Alexei ahead in an arrow formation, the combat maids protecting him from behind.

‘To think we changed our plans last minute…’

But Nikolai could only thank Selene and Nikita, who caused him to be late; otherwise, they wouldn’t have noticed the sudden increase in enemy troops.

Unlike their previous scouting, Nosferatu’s troops defended the building that Nikolai was aiming for.

A hiss of words and commands came from their communication devices as Nikolai held up his fist.
