Chapter 532: Grandpa Saves The Day!

Two crying babies echoed as a silver-haired werewolf jumped through the half-destroyed roof, his familiar voice calling out. “Son, they’re safe! I’ve got them!” Ivan’s silver eyes instantly became cold the moment he saw the undead.

His body covered in flames, smoke and dirt as Ivan stepped closer.

“These filthy bastards, I knew they liked this kind of trick…” Ivan’s eyes widened as Nikita flung at him and snatched the two children from his arms. “Calm down, daughter… They’re safe, it’s okay.”

He didn’t shout or get mad.

Instead, he stroked her hair and let out a long sigh.

“What happened!?” The undead screamed at the sight of Ivan… his existence fading because of the black flames consuming him.

“Your corpse explosion failed.” Ivan stepped closer to the decaying body.

He looked at Nikolai, who rushed to Nikita’s side first and smiled. “That’s it son, family comes first.” Then he squatted down and wrapped his claws in silver flames before stabbing them into the undead’s chest.

‘Dad is so awesome.”

“Look, girls, that’s your grandpa, he’s so cool.”

Nikita’s form slowly faded as she remained in a half-wolf form and leaned against Nikolai. She hugged the two twins to her chest while nuzzling Viktoria.

Ivan grabbed a small glowing orb from the undead’s chest.

“Did you think you could mess with my family, and not suffer the consequences, Alucard Nosferatu?”

Upon uttering the name, the sphere cracked and turned black as if it had died.

“Tsk, coward.”

Ivan looked across the ruined rooftop while shaking his head. He didn’t want to scold either of them, because he reacted the same way just over fifteen years ago. “Come on, your babies are awake, let’s get inside.”

“Yeah…”

Nikolai looked down, only to find Viktoria staring up at him with big, gleaming gold eyes and no sign of fear on her face. That was enough for him to relax; his three hearts still pounded in his chest because of what had happened. ‘If I was slower…’ He closed his eyes and hugged his daughter before approaching his wife.

“Honey…” She spoke with a ragged voice as if she swallowed a blade.

Nikita fell against his chest silently, her body covered in bloody wounds that started to heal slowly. He knew she experienced an awakening, but the forced awakening likely hurt her mentally more than anything.

“Nikita, don’t worry. Let’s become stronger and protect our babies better in the future.”

“Nn… but…”

Before she could cry or linger, he held Viktoria to her chest, hiding her from his dad’s view. The cute baby started feasting. “Waaah!? Nikolai!” Her cheeks became red as she hid herself and took Viktoria from his hands.

“Looks delicious.” He mumbled before wrapping her in his coat, his muscles and faint scars visible in the night sky. “I’ll go get the others.”

The moment he stepped away, Nikita’s bright red face turned his back. “What would I do without your dad, Viktoria?” Of course, the baby just suckled away, with her brilliant golden eyes half closed and watching her mother’s face.

***

“Dad.”

“Are you alright, Nikolai?”

Ivan’s deep voice reminded him of when he was younger and suffered nightmares or missed his mother. “I’m fine dad, a little shaken up.”

“You did well son, here… these girls are just like my daughter-in-law.”

“Hm?”

He held the two girls with Nikita’s features out, and both of them curled up sleeping without worries; the explosion, the shouting, none of it woke them up! Two white fluff balls both curled into his arms the moment he took them from his father.

‘Daria seems clingy, while Elizabeth kicks a lot…’

Nikolai sighed in relief after noticing the two of them were fine. He looked up at his father, who smiled at him. It was a weird smile that made him feel embarrassed, the kind of look parents gave when they were proud and also amused at their child.

“I can’t believe time has passed so quickly. I never thought I would live to see you with children in the past.” Ivan grumbled while patting Nikolai’s shoulder.

“To be honest son, before you awakened. I had given up on life.”

Although Nikolai could sense it as a child and young adult, hearing the words directly always made his chest tighten enough that he struggled to breathe properly. He couldn’t imagine a world without his dad… let alone his mother. “Don’t say that, It’s fine.”

However, Ivan shook his head.

“No. It wasn’t.” The words were like blades. Stabbed into the ground, deep and unwavering. “I should have never felt that way, because I had you.”

The words sent tingles down Nikolai’s spine.

“D-Dad, that’s embarrassing…”

But he couldn’t keep acting this way when he saw his father’s smile. It was fragile and slightly twisted, and his eyes were wet. He grabbed both of Nikolai’s shoulders and gripped him tightly. “Nikolai, thank you for being born.”

‘This is so awkward.’

And yet, he was happy, delighted even.

To get a compliment from his hero and father meant everything to Nikolai. He looked down at the man whose back used to tower in front of him, stopping everything from harming him. Now he noticed… ‘When did dad become so small?’

“I think the thanks is mine, to have a dad like you.”

“Haha, you cheeky boy.”

“Woo~”

“Nuuu!”

At Ivan’s loud voice, the twins began to cry out with cute little whines. Slightly different from humans, their instincts and voices resembled those of baby wolves.

Even their fluffy ears popped out along with their tails, “It’d be hard to hide them in a normal hospital, huh?” Nikolai joked as he felt the wind blow behind him and smiled.

“Nikolai, hand them to me, they’re hungry.”

Nikita held the sleepy Viktoria over her shoulder, gently tapping her back. It’d been less than a few days, and she already seemed to be adjusting to her role as a mother. ‘Must be the inherited bloodline memories that help…’

It made him jealous that female monsters would gain information and knowledge on caring for their children through their bloodline.

While men had to learn the human way, through practice.

‘At least my arms can easily support their neck, back and bottom…’ He handed Daria over first, then once Nikita looked comfortable, he took Viktoria into his arms… “Urp~” The little wolf burped as she clung to his chest with her weak hands.

Elizabeth seemed to be the most delicate, so he gently placed her in Nikita’s arms and stroked her faint, fluffy hair.

‘Unlike humans, their hair grows rapidly in the first week… same with their strength, although it’s nothing over the top…’ He’d spend days reading about monsters and their kind. Werewolf babies would enjoy rapid growth in the first few weeks, then slowly develop over time like a human.

“Let’s go see my mother.” He smiled while his father cleared the entrance.

The moment he looked at Nikita, his blood pumped faster. Her long hair, the mature scent coming from her blood and body, a faint trace of sweat, pheromones and the milk from her breasts triggered his instincts…

‘Is this what dad meant?’

Before, he loved her as his wife, and his emotions were real… but now, he felt that if anything touched her even the slightest, he might tear them apart instantly.

As if Nikita’s existence sank deeper and deeper into his soul after bearing his children.

‘Is this the monopolistic desire of male werewolves?’

“What’s the matter, Honey?” Nikita’s voice lacked the immaturity of a few months ago, a rougher and deeper tone, and yet he found it calming. He watched her as she turned to the side, blushing. “Don’t watch me while they’re eating… It’s weird.”

“Oh, why’s that?”

Nikita’s eyes opened wide as they shone the same gold as Viktoria’s, her cheeks puffed out before she suddenly let out a howl… but it was one he knew well.

“Damn it, I’m so embarrassed!” She blushed and turned away from him. “Can’t you take a hint? Idiot…”

That’s when his mind raced, trying to think of reasons, and a line in the werewolf pregnancy and parenting book mentioned how females would desperately endure and seal their libido during pregnancy. But the moment they gave birth and the children were deemed healthy, their bodies would awaken… and that withheld desire would explode.

And this targeted only one male.

The father.

Something to do with their bodies seeking the same thing again, another litter, another pregnancy.

‘Didn’t it issue a danger warning at the bottom of this page though…?’ He suddenly felt a pulse of danger, bloodthirst from the female wolf standing opposite him.

“Well…”

“If you stand there half naked what can I do?” She became defiant and pouted at him while stepping close. Then she whispered in his ear, her voice low and rough, but the heat of her breath conveyed her state. “So, let’s put the kids to bed, D-a-r-l-i-n-g~”

Nikolai looked back at his father and noticed him rubbing the back of his head. He then realised that Ivan knew everything, and that’s probably why they isolated the wards. Female werewolves became extremely territorial in this state.

So he replied with a smile and held her waist as they approached the makeshift doorway.

“I’d love to.”

In his mind, Nikolai achieved victory.

But, he was underestimating the sex drive of a great elder werewolf mother who’d just given birth.
