Chapter 432: Returning the Favor

Slowly, the woman looked up.

She saw a hand stretched towards her, and the man whose hand this belonged to was smiling at her, a smile that seemed angelic—capable of soothing the soul. “Who are you, mister? Are you the one who summoned my family?”

“Yes,” the man nodded. “My heart is pained for your loss, but you’re safe now if you take my hand.”

Hearing this, the woman’s glassy eyes widened.

At his words, the tragedy that befell her brothers was replayed in her mind, causing her to flinch.

But eventually, as there was no other choice, she accepted the man’s hand.

She stood up in the carriage with the support of the man.

“I’ll take you somewhere safe,” the man whispered before glancing over his shoulder. “John.”

“Yes, Your Holiness…” the middle-aged man from before appeared out of a drop of blood.

Before the woman, the middle-aged man didn’t dare to lift up his gaze to look directly into her eyes out of sheer respect and reverence. Even though the woman had no clue whatsoever as to what was going on, he kept his head bowed.

“Please bring this young lady somewhere safe and tend to her needs.”

“As you wish, Your Holiness.”

Gently, the woman’s hand was handed to the middle-aged man.

Just before the two were about to leave, the woman looked back at the flowing man.

“What is your name, Sir?” She asked.

For a fleeting moment, the flowing man was silent, but then his lips curled into a polite smile, “I have a rather unique name—it’s a mouthful. My name is Qebehsenuef, but for you specifically, you can call me Kebe.”

“T-Then… Thank you for saving me, Sir Kebe. In case you want to know, my name is Nebty.”

“Nebty, such a beautiful name… And don’t worry about this. It’s natural to save a lady in trouble. Now, off you go.”

As soon as Kebe gestured for her to leave, the woman and the middle-aged man turned into liquid blood and seeped into the ground. And almost instantly, Kebe’s expression shifted from gentle and welcoming to cold the moment she was gone.

He swept his eyes across the battlefield and tilted his head.

Swish!

A flash of brilliant light shone from his eyes, drowning the entire area.

Screams of pain could be heard across the battlefield, but nobody knew what was happening as the light was too bright for them to even think of opening their eyes. Once the light dimmed, the people in battle opened their eyes and sucked in a cold breath.

Like banishing ghosts, the bandits disappeared from the battlefield.

Evaporated by the blinding light.

“Clean this place up—and make sure nobody knows about what happened tonight,” Kebe commanded and turned around with grace. As he walked, his body began dissipating, blown by the wind. “Don’t fail such a simple task, or there’s no reason for you to exist.”

Even though Kebe disappeared from sight, the people immediately went to work.

Fear could be seen clearly in their eyes.

Somewhere nearer to Sunhold City, Kebe appeared again amidst a dense forest.

Moonlight shone from above as he walked calmly, tracing the lonely path in silence, eyes fixed ahead.

Just then, a creature made entirely of gale appeared on his shoulder—a falcon.

Unlike a normal falcon, however, this falcon was encased in golden armor and had thicker feathers than any falcon in existence, so much so that its tail was almost the length of its entire body. “You should be focusing on your Angel bloodline,” the falcon said.

“Cultivating my angel bloodline is hard,” Kebe shrugged. “My vampire bloodline, on the other hand.”

“Still, you need to unlock more divine power within your angel bloodline to beat chaos.”

“Oh? Are you concerned because that avatar killed Sunna’s avatar?”

“And you’re not?”

“No, I’m not afraid of him or anyone in that matter.”

Hearing this, the falcon covered his face with his wing.

On one hand, the pride inside Kebe was compatible with the Divine Blood inside him, but on the other hand, it was concerning. The evil avatar could defeat Sunna’s avatar, so he cannot be underestimated, or it would be their turn next.

“You should be afraid. It will help you be more alert.”

“Relax… The evil avatar is nothing more than a brat. What can he even do? Once I absorbed the True Blood and elevated my vampire bloodline to the next level, there’s nothing that brat could do. It doesn’t matter if he has Sutekh’s blood in him. I’m going to pummel him to death.”

“I admire your passion… But don’t underestimate him.”

Kebe waved his hand nonchalantly, telling the falcon to go away as he arrived at his destination.

It was a sparkling lake right before Sunhold City’s entrance.

But his destination wasn’t the lake, but a dwarf tree near the edge.

Despite his stoic face, the glee he was feeling inside was breaking through as his lips were curling up and down. He had been waiting for this for quite a while, and now, he was finally going to reap the True Blood and elevate his strength to the next level.

Kebe reached for the tree, and in response, a golden runic formation gleamed on the tree.

Before he could activate it to teleport to a hidden safehouse, a figure suddenly came out of it.

It was the middle-aged man.

“Aren’t you supposed to be keeping an eye on her?”

“I apologize, Your Holiness, but your wife called me.”

“Anastasya?” Kebe frowned in confusion. “So late in the night? What does she want?”

“She said it’s an emergency.” The middle-aged man said hesitantly, “That you should return quickly.”

“Hah…” Kebe massaged his forehead.

“If you want, I can be the one to check.”

“Forget about it. I’ll go check and see what the emergency was,” Kebe waved his hand, and turned to return back home. “I need to get something I left behind, too, so I might as well return. Just keep an eye on the True Blood. I’ll be back in a couple of hours.”

“Yes, Your Holiness…” The middle-aged man bowed as Kebe disappeared again.

He stayed in his position for a couple of seconds longer before he finally straightened his spine again.

Just then, a cruel smile crept to his lips.

Excitedly, he smacked his lips and glanced back at the dwarf tree with a perverted gaze, “You trust me so much, Your Holiness. In that case, I’ll taste her blood a bit. Just a little. Not to mention… that woman is quite pretty. Maybe messing around with her will also be worthwhile…”

“What’s going to be worthwhile?”

Almost instantly, the middle-aged man snapped his head to look behind him when he heard a voice.

It wasn’t Kebe’s voice, thankfully, but it was a woman’s voice.

Before he could react, a sudden, excruciating pain assaulted the entire right side of his body.

He looked down, and his breath was caught in his throat when he saw that the right side of his body was no longer there—something clamped down and tore it away, leaving him mangled and half-whole.

Blood fountained into the air as a scream tore through his throat.

Through the haze of agony, the last image burned into his sight was a blonde woman.

Her face was shaded by shadows, but it didn’t hide her disgusted gaze.

And the last sensation was the gurgling sound of water as his feet sank into the earth.

Then, the world was swallowed by darkness.

Moments later, Kebe arrived at his house, which was in a respected and prestigious neighbourhood.

Every single home in this block was a mansion, and the spaces between one mansion to the other were far, giving as much privacy for the people living here. Kebe materialized within the gate and looked around, noting that the guards weren’t on their posts.

Almost instantly, a bad feeling crept into his heart as he summoned a spear made entirely of golden wind.

“Anastasya, can you hear me?” Kebe whispered.

His voice was carried by the wind and spread throughout the mansion.

It searched the person the words were designated to.

But there was no answer.

“Anastasya! Answer me!” He tried again, screaming in a whisper.

Once again, there was no answer.

A bead of sweat trickled down the side of Kebe’s face as the mansion was completely dark—and there was also no sign of life. He swallowed harshly and turned to the side right as the falcon appeared again, “Can you scout inside? See what’s inside?”

“I already did,” the falcon shook his head. “Your wife is tied up inside, but I can’t find the perpetrator.”

Gritting his teeth at the thought of someone daring to do this to him, Kebe headed for the door.

He wasted no time and kicked the door open.

Brak!

In an instant, he raised the golden spear with both hands, into his fighting stance.

He smelled blood, thick enough for him to notice, but it was hard to pinpoint where it came.

But the scent covered the entire room.

Kebe’s eyes scanned the entire room in an instant and found nobody other than his wife tied up on the sofa. Her hands were tied by what seemed like an enchanted handcuff, and her mouth was covered by a cloth.

Despite desperately calling for help, her voice was muffled to almost a mute.

“Anastasya…” Kebe walked in carefully.

Not knowing who the person who did this was made the entire situation ten times worse.

But seeing his wife in this state, he couldn’t help but come to her aid.

Tap!

“You’re right on time.”

Just then, Kebe froze as footsteps echoed behind him.

Like a ghost, a man drifted past with one hand clasped behind his back as if he were an old, wise man in a movie. He strode into the mansion with unhurried ease—walking as though he were the person who owned the place.

Even so, Kebe was frozen on his spot.

‘How did he…?’ He sweated, eyes wide in shock. ‘I didn’t even sense him behind me. How?’

“Do you remember me?” The man asked—as he took a seat beside Anastasya, draping his arm over her as if she were his possession. “We haven’t met directly, but I’m sure you shared your Vestal’s eyes and knew what I looked like.”

Upon hearing this, Kebe’s face instantly fell as he recognized who this man was.

Lucivar—the avatar he was targeting.

“Let’s take this outside, or are you afraid of fighting me fair and square?” Kebe asked—with a cheeky grin—masking the nervousness for his wife inside. “You killed Sunna’s avatar, but your arrogance will get you killed today. Step outside.”

“Hmm?” Lucivar pulled Anastasya close and threw his feet on the table. “Afraid? Please… I’m only returning the favor. In case you’re too arrogant to remember—you did attack my woman. Do you really think you’d get away with it?”

Lucivar put on a savage, devilish grin as he patted Anastasya’s head condescendingly.

Her entire body was shaking in fear, but that only made him more elated.

Kebe, on the other hand, was flushed red in anger.

“Come on, don’t give me that look…” Lucivar cackled. “You should be grateful. I haven’t killed her… at least not yet.”
