Capítulo 749: Both options are dangerous

Bai Meiyue pursed her lips and suppressed the worries in her heart. She knew that this was not the time for her to worry about Lei Qian. Turning to look at the two women behind her, she softly said to them, “Don’t worry about the food resources. We will arrange them somehow. For the moment, just try to make this place habitable.” Bai Meiyue was not worried about food. She had the barter system with her, and she could always arrange something for the team members to eat.

After Bai Meiyue’s reminder, Meng Suisui and Shen Zhen went to look for blankets, water bottles and other things. The first thing they did was to look in the winter section, but they found nothing, as the survivors had taken everything away from this section because of the terrifying winters that happened earlier.

Sighing, Meng Suisui turned on her feet and then headed to the third floor, where she found a few blankets that could be used. At least they were cleaner than the ones that she found in the room where the workers used to stay in the past. She returned to the tenth floor and then placed the blankets on a rather soft couch that Bai Meiyue could use and said to her, “You rest here. Although the couches are soft, they are not as soft as the mattresses at home. Just try to make do with them at the moment.”

“I will be fine,” said Bai Meiyue as she sat down on the neatly arranged couch. She then said to Meng Suisui, “Don’t worry about me. I know that the arrangements are limited, and the situation is not that good. Of course, I will not make things difficult for you and Shen Zhen.”

While the two of them were talking, Shen Zhen returned with four backpacks. She sat down on the floor and started to organise the things that she had brought back with her. These backpacks contained supplies for three of them. Toothpaste, brushes, towels, soaps, facewashes and some change of clothes.

She also handed the steamed buns that Bai Meiyue had brought with her to Meng Suisui and Bai Meiyue. These steamed buns were what Mother Bai had given to Bai Meiyue. In every world, no matter what the time, a mother would never let their child leave without bringing some food. Even if they were just going out of the house for a few hours. After all, the worries of a mother’s heart could never ease. Thus, there were more than a hundred steamed buns stuffed in a backpack along with a few packets of biscuits, snacks and dried seafood.

Shen Zhen pulled her own bag and then started to take out the tiffin box as well as the snacks that she had brought with her. As for Meng Suisui, she was more of a spice lover. Thus, she brought more than twenty packs of spicy beef jerky, ramen and crispy rice noodles.

In another backpack, Shen Zhen had brought disinfectants and portable medical equipment.

Bai Meiyue was rather curious and wondered what Shen Zhen had even brought in such a big backpack. She stretched her neck curiously and looked inside the bag, only to see complex iodine, a scalpel, pliers, tweezers, scissors, medical cotton, alcohol, band aid and medical masks. There were also disposable masks and medical gloves.

“These are all our supplies,” said Shen Zhen with a sigh as she placed her hands on her lap nervously. She raised her head and looked at Meng Suisui and Bai Meiyue with a serious expression. “I just went to the ground floor with your brother. There are only two stores that are filled with supplies. One where the children’s supplies were sold. No one wants to take care of children at this time, nor do they have the time or the headspace to do that. And the other one is the elderly shop. Where the supplies for the elderly are sold. There is not a single thing taken away from there.”

She paused and added, “There are indeed some food supplies, but I think they have gone bad. Suisui and I can take the risk of eating them, but I cannot say the same for you. You are with a child, and it is not good for you to eat expired food. Except for the expired food, there is nothing else in this supermarket.”

“Then what are we supposed to do?” Meng Suisui looked dazed after hearing that there were no food supplies in such a big supermarket. What were they supposed to do now that there were no supplies and there was a tide of zombies waiting to kill them? Were they supposed to wait for death and die from starvation?

They might have awakened supernatural abilities, but they did not awaken the ability to stay without food or water, did they? What were they supposed to do now? When she left the mansion, she never expected to run into such a situation. Nor had she ever run into a situation like this before. At least in the past, they were able to hunt down supplies, but what about now? What were they supposed to do now? Where were they supposed to find the supplies when they could not even go outside, and there was nothing inside?

“I have no idea.” Shen Zhen was also feeling rather troubled. They had never faced a situation as difficult as this before.

What’s more, they even had a pregnant woman with them. Without the possible supplies, how were they supposed to manage her nutrition? What if something happened to Bai Meiyue because of this corpse and mutated bug waves?

Shaking her head, she got to her feet and then walked over to the window. She wanted to see if there was even a single opening left for them to escape through, but nothing. Frustrated, Shen Zhen raised her hand and ran it through her hair when she saw —
