Capítulo 738: Starlight (II)

“Alright, if you say so?” Meng Suisui nodded. She took a bite of the sandwich she was holding in her hands and turned to look at Bai Meiyue. “There is something wrong with the third car; it keeps moving back and forth.”

Bai Meiyue calmly glanced at the car that was driving toward the building, but then suddenly returned to where it came from.

“It was probably sent to keep an eye on things. This man was never supposed to make a move, but seeing that the other two have fallen, he has no other choice but to return,” explained Bai Meiyue. “You are forgetting that Yu Miaomiao is supposed to be leaving through this path. This street is much more inconspicuous than the rest; thus, it’s a safer option. Since the situation here is not good, it’s natural that he will go back and relay the message to Bai Feng and Yu Miaomiao. Cannot let that woman go through such a dangerous path, can they?”

She then turned her head away. What she didn’t tell Meng Suisui was that this was probably a setup done by Bai Feng; he wanted to make Yu Miaomiao believe that this street was the only way for her to get out of this safe zone. After all, Yu Miaomiao had been betrayed once; there was no way she was going to believe in anyone easily. Thus, Bai Feng must work twice as hard to bring that woman here.

Maybe I did him a favour by killing those two men, thought Bai Meiyue. If the zombies in this street were well fed, it would become easier to kill them, as they wouldn’t attack them as ferociously as the rest of the zombies on the other street.

With the return of this car, there was a very good chance that Bai Feng’s plan would only get even closer to success.

She was indeed correct; as the man drove back, the first thing he did was to relay what happened on the street to Yu Miaomiao. When the woman heard his report, she frowned and then turned to look at Bai Feng, who was standing behind her without an ounce of disobedience on his face even though he had fought tooth and nail against Yu Miaomiao just a few weeks ago.

The man had a defeated look on his face as if he had lost all the fight within him.

“We will be taking this street,” said Yu Miaomiao. Then, in an imperious manner, she said to Bai Feng, “Clear it up for me.”

A sly glint flashed in Bai Feng’s eyes, but he immediately hid it within his eyes and then said in a low voice, “I believe that heading to the south before heading to Bai Meiyue’s safe base will be better. They will be expecting us for the time being, but if we give it a few weeks, then we can take them down quickly, as they will not be expecting an attack. And Bai Meiyue will be undergoing labour in a few weeks as well; that will help—”

“Are you going to tell me what I need to do?” Yu Miaomiao hated it when people contradicted her. She narrowed her eyes and then said to Bai Feng, “I am telling you to do something for me. Not asking you for a suggestion – is it that hard for you to understand?”

“I was just telling you that there is a better option—” began Bai Feng, but before he could finish, Yu Miaomiao raised her hand and stopped him. “I am not asking you to tell me any better option. I am giving you a command, and I hope that you fulfil it. Don’t tell me what I need to do or what I should do.”

Shooting the woman an exasperated expression, Bai Feng backed down and said, “Fine, if that is what you want, Chief Yu.”

Yu Miaomiao smirked when she saw Bai Feng backing down. She stepped closer to the man and reached out to touch his face. Bai Feng flinched under her touch and pulled away, but Yu Miaomiao didn’t let him. She leaned forward and whispered in his ear, “You don’t have to fight so much, you know that, right? If you agree to stay with me, you will be in a better condition.”

Bai Feng stepped back and smiled at the woman politely. “I am sure that I will be, but I am not someone who will sell himself for something that I can achieve on my own, Chief Yu.”

He then turned on his feet and headed out of the room without looking back. Seeing him walk away, Yu Miaomiao’s aide said to her, “He truly doesn’t understand what he is missing out on, Chief Yu.” His expression was filled with indignation as he felt jealous of Bai Feng. He had been trying to get close to Yu Miaomiao for a while now, but the woman hadn’t even paid the slightest amount of attention to him, and yet Bai Feng, who was being favoured without doing anything, didn’t understand that he was living his dream!

Yu Miaomiao glanced at the man who was speaking, and her lips curled up in a disdainful smile. “You don’t have to tell me the obvious. Of course, I can see that he is an idiot for rejecting me.”

Then, without giving the man another chance to speak to her, Yu Miaomiao walked out of the room.

The man looked at her disappearing back and then spat on the floor.

Keep on acting smug. What is the point of showing so much arrogance when you can’t even get the man you want? It’s your fortune that I am willing to give you attention; who are you to turn your face away? Do you think that if not for the power and authority in your hands, I would have even paid attention to you?

Outside the room, Bai Feng wiped his face with a wet wipe and commanded, “Start plan starlight rightaway.”
