Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes when she heard his words. She neither agreed nor disagreed, but that seemed to be enough of Lei Qian. He smiled gently as he patted Bai Meiyue’s belly and said to Xiao Cai, “Now you settle down for me. Your dad will come back in a while and then sleep with you. Till then, stay quiet and protect your mother, alright? Don’t trouble her.”

Protect?

She chuckled and asked, “You are asking your unborn son to protect me? If you are so worried, then you should think of a way to return and protect me.” Bai Meiyue arched a brow and egged the man. He, such a big man, was saying such naive words. But Xiao Cai seemed to adore his father’s silly antics and words. He immediately calmed down and stopped rolling around inside her womb.

Earlier, he was making a fuss because Bai Meiyue was not getting as much sleep as he would have liked, but now that his father had asked him to act like a big boy, he was staying as quiet as a little bunny, as if he was determined to keep quiet until his father returned and slept together with him.

“Fine, go and deal with your own things first before cajoling me. Don’t worry about me so much; I have more than one way to protect myself.”

Bai Meiyue not only had the ability to defend, but she also had the barter system; if things went out of control, she could always ask the barter system to give her something in exchange that could save her life at the crucial moment. Bai Meiyue chased Lei Qian away, as she was worried that the man would start acting like a mama bear once again. She was already tired and didn’t want to deal with his inner mother-in-law. So, she pushed the man out of her room and closed the door on his face.

Since Lei Qian wanted them to stay quiet and not light up the room, did she have any other choice but to sleep?

She fell asleep once the man left with a peace of mind; for three to four hours, she slept without a worry in her mind.

When the sky started to get light, Bai Meiyue woke up again. She arched her arms over her head and left her room. She then walked over to where Shen Zhen and Meng Suisui were sleeping and knocked on their door. “You two wake up; we cannot sleep in today.” After hearing the sound of people waking up inside, she nodded to herself and then walked away swiftly. “And don’t leave the premises today. The spy cameras of Yu Miaomiao are on guard; if you get caught, it will be really troublesome. Don’t make too much noise.”

She then left without looking back, while Shen Zhen and Meng Suisui stayed upright on the bed, trying to process everything that Bai Meiyue had told them. The two of them had just woken up and couldn’t understand what was going on. They just fell asleep a few seconds ago. How come they ended up being spied on?

Bai Meiyue walked over to the open balcony and noticed a few cars lingering outside the buildings. It seemed like Yu Miaomiao was indeed suspicious. She turned around and walked to a side where no one could see her, opened a small opening in those cars, and waited for the mutated bugs to find this opening. Fortunately for Bai Meiyue, these mutated bugs were really smart. They quickly found the openings inside the car and slid through it.

“AHHH!!”

The screams of whoever it was inside the car echoed through the silence. Bai Meiyue curled her lips and softly hummed a tune before turning around on her feet and heading back inside the building. As for the cars that were standing on guard, they started to drive frantically before slamming into walls and poles. The sound of crashing echoed through the silent street.

With so much noise, it didn’t take long for zombies to come swaying. They sniffed the scent of blood and headed towards the car, whose doors were now open, and attacked the barely alive men who were lying on their seats haphazardly. The man still had some life left within them; thus, they felt the pain of getting beaten and ripped apart. These zombies had not eaten human flesh for a long time; thus, they didn’t just bite these men, but they started to eat them after tearing their limbs and heads.

These men were forced to suffer the pain of being eaten alive!

But Bai Meiyue didn’t feel an ounce of sympathy for them. This was what they deserved for trying to drag her and her son down. For the sake of glory and survival, they could watch a pregnant woman die in front of them, so why couldn’t she watch them die in return?

She was not a holy mother; if these people wanted to ruin her, then she would ruin them first before they could even think of attacking her.

Bai Meiyue coldly looked at the men who were being eaten alive and turned her back on them.

As she entered the floor, she saw Meng Suisui walking over to where she was standing with a bowl of hot porridge in her hands. “Doctor Shen asked me to bring you some porridge. She said that this is good for you and the child.”

Bai Meiyue looked at the small bowl and the pitiful amount of porridge inside it. She was sure that she was going to hate this diet. She sighed and said, “Alright.” Taking the bowl, she walked over to the bed. Just as she sat down, Meng Suisui walked over to the other side and peered out of the window.

“There are a lot of zombies, and it seems like they are attacking someone. Should we go and save them?”

“No need.” Bai Meiyue glanced at Meng Suisui and calmly said to her, “There is no need to make a move; if those people are dying, then that’s their fate. Just lock the doors of this floor and ask my second brother to come over.”
