Capítulo 723: An Unwilling Cooperation

“Yaun Ni? What’s wrong with her? What kind of medicine is she giving me?” Su Mo asked with a soft voice. He looked at Ruan Chanchan with a hint of wariness and then said, “Is this some kind of contractual medicine or something? “We want your help,” said Luo Jingguo with gritted teeth. His eyes flashed with hostility as he thought of the unreasonable demands that Yu Miaomiao kept making. He knew that if they didn’t stop her now, then that woman would only make things even more difficult for Bai Feng in the future. After all, if Bai Meiyue could see through the little tactics that Yu Miaomiao was cooking up, they could see it too. But the problem was that they couldn’t do anything about it.

Even if they knew that Yu Miaomiao was planning to make use of the Bai family to coerce Bai Feng into joining the special task force, what could they do about it? With Bai Xue foolishly falling into the palms of that woman, it would be surprising if they could do anything to her. Luo Jingguo, countless times, told Bai Feng that it was better for him to abandon the Bai family, but did the man listen even once?

No, of course not. He didn’t listen to a thing that he told him.

‘They are family,’ he had told him. ‘I cannot abandon them,’ was what he said. It wasn’t easy for him, and yet Bai Feng simply refused to let go of them. What was the point of keeping them around? No, he really wanted to know what the point was in keeping them around. That family were like blood-sucking leeches. The more they kept them around, the more they would cause trouble for Bai Feng later on. It was better to nip the bud before it bloomed. But Bai Feng couldn’t understand something so simple.

Bai Feng was adamant and didn’t want to let go of the Bai family, and Yu Miaomiao knew this weakness of his well enough. Thus, she wasn’t willing to let go. This caused the entire situation to fall into a stalemate. And Luo Jingguo was worried that it might remain so until one of them died. Unfortunately, Yu Miaomiao was very much on guard after getting nearly assassinated. She didn’t trust anyone, nor did she allow anyone to get close to her living quarters. To make things even worse, Luo Jingguo heard that the woman had actually developed countless security features to keep them all locked out.

A small trigger was all it needed for the security alarms to start ringing. And the last time someone tried to sneak in, not even their remains came out.

Luo Jingguo still remembered the harsh and cold explosions that rang in the clearing when the traps were triggered. Though he had seen cruelty many times at the end of the world, he had to admit that he had never seen anything like that before. Yu Miaomiao surpassed every single line of cruelty for the sake of her own life.

This was something that Luo Jingguo could never accept. That woman needed to go, as she could never be given the authority or power, and Luo Jingguo knew that the woman would stop at nothing if she did not receive the power that she was after. Luo Jingguo had seen the ambitions of that woman rather closely. And he knew how much she wanted and desired the power over the people.

A woman like her —she could become the harbinger of nothing but chaos if she were not stopped.

“So you want us to lend you a helping hand?” Bai Meiyue tilted her head to one side and questioned.

“That’s right.”

Luo Jingguo gave a nod, and Bai Meiyue pursed her lips. With her arms crossed over her bosom, she softly said to the man, “And you want me to help you despite knowing how much I hate Bai Xue? Tell me, why would I help you when Bai Feng wants to protect the same woman I want to kill? What kind of help are you even expecting from me?”

Bai Meiyue’s questions landed right on the mark, and Luo Jingguo closed his eyes upon hearing them. He knew very well how much Bai Meiyue hated Bai Xue. If not for Bai Feng’s protection, Bai Xue would have been turned into a cold corpse.

Bai Meiyue hated that woman enough to bury her alive.

Now that they were asking Bai Meiyue to help them while protecting the one person she despised, even Luo Jingguo didn’t have the face to ask for her help. He looked at the woman and finally began speaking in a low voice, “Miss Bai, I know that you are upset, but you should at least think of the consequences before you refuse. You are right that we have kept someone whom you hate and given her a place to stay, but Bai Xue is currently not your enemy. Yu Miaomiao is… You also want to create a safe and healthy environment for your child, right?”

Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes. “Are you threatening me?”

“Heavens, no,” Luo Jingguo raised his hands in the air. “Of course not. I am no fool to threaten you, Miss Bai. I have seen the ending of those who tried to threaten you. Of course, I will never dare to do something so foolish as threaten you. I know what you can do to people who make you upset,” he interlocked his fingers and remarked. “But you should also think of what is important to you. The safety of your child or taking revenge? I think that the choice is as clear as the day in front of you.”

Bai Meiyue’s eyes, if possible, squinted even more. She stared at the man with a hint of annoyance and said, “You are making a hard wager.”

“Well, I am only stating the fact. Just think about what you will be putting at risk if you were to lose sight of your priorities. Please pay attention to what is important. Alright?”

Bai Meiyue tilted her head, expressing her lack of desire to accept this task. She turned and looked at Lei Qian before asking, “Do you want to take this task?”
