Chapter 718: Failed Robbery (II)

The man who spoke earlier pursed his lips and watched the rest of the team follow the leader. He wanted to follow the rest of the team as Yu Miaomiao had his wife and daughter in her control as well, but for some reason, the man just couldn’t take the first step. He stared at the team that was getting further and further away, but his legs just wouldn’t move. In the end, he had to grit his teeth and slowly make his way toward the shack, but he had not even taken a step close to the shack when something pulled him back.

He quickly turned around and saw Two, who had walked away. His heartbeat, which had escalated slowly, came down, and he glared at the man. “Just what do you think you are doing? You scared me.”

Looking at the terrified expression of the man in front of him, Two was amused. He rolled his shoulders back and said, “Oh yeah? Then I am about to scare you even more. Do you even know the rank of those supernatural beings you are about to take on?”

The man paused and slowly shook his head. He had a feeling that whatever Two was about to say was not going to be good.

Sure enough, a second later, he heard Two say, “They all are rank nine and above. Do you think that our team can take them on?”

As soon as Two finished speaking, there was an explosion behind them, and from the screams that were resounding in the far end of the path, the man knew that Two was speaking the truth. He shuddered and turned to look behind him. He could see bodies flying around with the leader trying to escape.

“Run.”

Before the man could even think of what to do next, Two had caught his hand and pulled him to the doghole that he found at the southern corner of the safe base. The two of them didn’t stop for a second as they continued to run faster and faster. They tried to minimise their presence as they did not want the guards to catch them, as they were too inconspicuous. It was a good thing that they were lucky enough to escape the eyes of the guards who were rushing to the warehouse, but at the same time, because they were going too slowly, it took them a long time to reach the escape route.

“Are we going to leave them all alone like that?” the guard asked Two as he turned to look behind. They were now standing quite far and had no idea what was going but from the blasts and the fire raging in the air, the man had a feeling that they were going to be in a lot of trouble. But at the same time, he felt like he was being too much of a coward by leaving his team members behind.

He turned to look at Two and questioned, “Won’t they die if we leave them alone?”

Two, who was digging through the mud inside the dog hole, raised his head and looked at the man behind him. He arched a brow and said, “Then what do you suggest? We turn back and save them.”

“That–”

“You idiot, we cannot even save ourselves. What do you think you are doing?” Two got to his feet and raised his hand to smack the man on the back of his head.

He snapped at him, “Know your position and strength. Even I cannot take these people down, and you think you can take them on? Have you gone crazy?”

Turning to look at the direction from where the explosions were coming, Two sighed. “Things have already escalated to this point. There is no point in getting involved any further. So you better stop causing trouble and run as I asked you.”

Two knew that what they were doing was truly cowardly, but there was nothing they could do about it at this point. Could they fight and win against those ability users? Certainly, they could not. So it would be better if they could avoid this danger rather than getting involved in it.

He turned to look at the man who was still looking a bit guilty and pushed him slightly. “Then you can go ahead and deal with those ability users. Be the hero that you want to be. I am not going to stop you. Alright?”

Two then turned around and crawled out of the dog hole without saying anything.

The man watched him leave and turned to look at the raging fire behind him. A part of him wished to save the lives of those who were caught, but before he could even firm that decision, he saw someone’s head flying and shuddered. He changed his mind at once and then ran right after Two without even thinking.

When Two saw the man coming, he curled his lips and stepped back. “What happened? Did you lose your balls? What happened to that courage that you were showing?”

The man’s cheeks flushed red, and he said, “It’s not like that… I just thought it through.” He paused and asked, “But what are we supposed to do now? We lost both the army and the fortune. Chief Yu will not be happy.”

“She will definitely be unhappy, but if there is no one to face her wrath, to whom is she going to show her anger?” Two remarked with a smirk playing on his lips. He turned to look at the man, who was left stunned, and continued, “We two died in that fire. Alright?”

“But…but what if she finds out that we never died?” The man stammered, looking worried.

“Who will tell her that we survived?” Two asked with a little shake of his head. “All of them are dead.” And if they were not dead, they would be very soon. He muttered in his heart before taking one deep look at the safe zone and walking away.
