Chapter 717: Failed Robbery

“Then what do you suggest we do?” said one of the guards who followed the team with a frown on his face. “With Master Song refusing to help us, you are not expecting him to suddenly change his mind, are you? Because I am telling you that it is impossible. Since he refused to accept our request the first time, there is no way he is going to accept it the second time. So we might as well go back home.”

This guard saw things much more clearly than his boss. He knew that there was something amiss with Master Song, and his attitude toward them was much cooler than it was before. Trying to provoke him at the moment would only cause trouble for them. It would be better if they just left and thought of another plan before coming back. What was the point of staying here when the man didn’t even wish to talk with them? Were they going to continue being a bother, especially when they were not even welcomed?

“The only alternative that we have is going back to die.” The leader turned his head and gave a deep look to the man who was speaking to him, and then said to him, “If you want to die, then go ahead and die on your own. I am not following your lead.”

After he finished speaking, the leader turned to look at the rest of the team members and said to them, “If you don’t want to follow me, then you are welcome to follow him. Go back and face the wrath of Chief Yu, but do not expect me to save your asses when you are almost on the verge of losing your lives. Do you understand?”

The team members were terrified when they heard the warning from their leaders, and they did not want to be involved in anything troublesome. They all turned to look at the guard who was speaking against their leaders and couldn’t help but say,

“You are being too much, Two. I know that you are not happy with the decision of the higher-ups to let him take over, but there is no need for you to take it out in such a manner. You are making things difficult for everyone in the team, Two.”

Two pursed his lips when he heard the blaming words of his team members. He stepped back and spoke in a calm voice, “I am making things difficult? Fine, then I will leave. If you want to, then you all can go ahead and follow him, but I am not going.” Two had a feeling that whatever was going to happen inside the safe base was not going to be pretty, and these people were the ones who were fooling around way too much by pushing Master Song’s bottom limit.

He spun on his feet and walked away without giving anyone a chance to say a word, and then turned away to walk out of the safe base.

The leader watched him leave and gritted his teeth so hard that they made a sound. He then turned to look at the rest of the team and said to them, “If we succeed, then no one is going to help him.” Unless Two begged on his knees, he was not going to let him in, and he could forget about following them.

The team members didn’t say a word against him because his expression was so ferocious that no one dared even utter a peep.

They all silently followed their leaders back inside the safe base.

The leader took them to the warehouse where Master Song had put away the crystal nuclei. It was at the far end of the safe base. If one were to look at the warehouse that Master Song had selected, one would see an inconspicuous shack that was neither too big nor too small. But the same couldn’t be said for the leader. He walked over to the shack and said to the rest, “This might be the place. I can see that the guards and security here are the strongest. This must be because he wants to avoid being robbed.”

“Robbed?” another guard squeaked when he heard his leader’s remark. He turned to look at the man in shock and questioned, “Robb–Robbed? You want us to do robbing?” He never expected that the leader would bring them to the shack to steal. He thought that the man brought them to talk sense with Master Song and not freaking steal!

The leader whipped his head and glared at the man who was talking nonsense in his eyes. He said to him, “Do you have any other plan, genius? Because I do not. What do you want me to do with the current situation?”

He couldn’t help but feel like he was surrounded by idiots. If not, why else would they say such stupid things? What else could they even do at the moment after Master Song refused to help them?

“But—” Another man opened his mouth to speak, but before he could say anything, the leader snarled and said to him, “There are no buts. There is no need to speak if you are all only going to spout nonsense. Master Song has made it very clear that he is not going to help us, and if we make him unhappy, then he might cause trouble for us. And if we return without the crystal nuclei and the weapons, then the chief will have our heads, so you tell me, what option are you picking? Don’t forget that the chief still has your families in her hands; you’d better think this through carefully. It’s either this or ruining your life for good. He then walked away, heading straight to the shack where the guards were patrolling.

The rest of the team stared at their leader before turning to look at one another. Though they had some misgivings, these people knew that the leader was correct. Yu Miaomiao had their family in her hands; if they didn’t do her bidding, then she would definitely kill their family members.
