Master Song was having a particularly hard time. He was really gloomy these days because he had lost more than one box of the crystal nuclei that he had securely hidden in the weaponry. He wondered how it was possible for the boxes of crystal nuclei to vanish into thin air when he had clearly secured them by putting more guards and ability users around the weaponry. Just what in the world was going on?

His assistants asked him to redevelop the defences and the walls, as well as the ability users to be sent to more extensive training. How could they not even notice that there was more than one thief in the weaponry and that they even stole more than three boxes of crystal nuclei? They were simply useless. It was better to put them into harsher training methods or else they would cause trouble for them in the future.

Master Song also couldn’t feel at ease until this problem of the thief was dealt with, and felt like he was being targeted everywhere.

He was still wondering when he heard that someone was looking for him. He raised his head and looked at the man who came to see him and frowned harder. He questioned, “What are you doing here? I thought that you were watching after Yu Miaomiao.” If not for the fact that this man was an acquaintance or was related to one, he would not have wasted his time talking with him, but since this man was related to Yu Miaomiao, he had no other choice but to talk with him.

The man lowered his head. It had taken him three weeks to arrive in the capital, and he was worried that he would be turned away without receiving any help. He relayed what was happening in the safe zone and begged in a sombre voice, “Master Song, this is really a troubled situation. Madam Yu is in grave trouble; if this goes on, then she will end up dying. Please help her this time around by letting us borrow some crystal nuclei and weapons from you. She has promised to pay once we are free from this delicate situation.”

When Master Song heard that Yu Miaomiao wanted more crystal nuclei, he was not happy. That woman was yet to show him any kind of purposeful result. She was only used to taking things from him and making empty promises. He usually showed a good face to Yu Miaomiao, as she was smart and she was much more skilled than many other researchers, but now he had become a victim of theft himself. He had lost more than three boxes of crystal nuclei and the reports that he had received from other bases.

How could he be in the mood to help Yu Miaomiao? He waved his hand and said to the man, “How many times had Yu Miaomiao promised me that she was close to making a breakthrough? And yet, even after all this time, she is not even close to showing any result and yet she keeps asking for more and more support. Do you think that I have too many crystal nuclei and wealth that you are here to steal from me?” Master Song was really angry.

It was one thing that the thieves were stealing from him, but Yu Miaomiao… that woman was no good either. She kept asking for things without delivering anything. It was too much. Especially when he was already having enough trouble. What was more, she was being played around by a pregnant woman!

A pregnant woman? How hard could it be for Yu Miaomiao to deal with a pregnant woman, and yet she couldn’t do anything? She was asking him to help her deal with a pregnant woman; even if Master Song didn’t have much humanity left in his heart, he still felt a bit ashamed to bully a woman who was carrying a child.

He snorted and said to the man, “Tell Yu Miaomiao that I will not play anymore. If she cannot deal with a little woman, then she might as well stop acting all high and mighty. Does she think it’s not embarrassing enough that we cannot deal with a pregnant woman even after using all our resources? Since she cannot do it, she might as well forget it. Stop targeting that woman and try to survive this situation. I mean, all these months of targeting that woman, and yet she couldn’t even kill her; then maybe she is not capable of doing so. Just tell her to stop trying.”

Once he finished speaking, he waved his hand again and asked the guard to dump the man outside his office. He had had enough of these troubles when he himself was in big trouble. If he couldn’t find a scapegoat, he was worried that he would be buried alive by Master Huang. He had worked so hard to arrange funding for the illegitimate research centre; if he realised that he had let a whole three boxes of crystal nuclei go missing, that man would definitely not leave him be.

He would certainly stop his supplies to teach him a lesson. What use were the crystal nuclei if they couldn’t even get him the comfort that he was used to?

The man was shocked when he heard that Master Song was not willing to help them; he opened his mouth to beg, but before he could say anything, the guards pushed and shoved him out of the office and then left him there. The man’s face turned black after being thrown out. He had travelled for three weeks, and instead of receiving any help, he was insulted.

“Boss, are we going to return like this?” said one of the men who came with him.

“Do you think that Chief Yu will leave us alone if we return without getting the crystal nuclei and weapons?” the man said with a snap. He knew that if he returned without getting what she wanted, Yu Miaomiao would definitely kill them. She had created a special route for them to escape the mutated bug-infected city. If they returned empty-handed, he could already imagine her reactions.
