Seeing the weasel sticking his butt out, Bai Meiyue was amused. She headed to the backyard and noticed the boxes of supplies and crystal nuclei that the weasels had brought for her. The boxes were neatly piled up in the backyard, and on both sides, the weasels were standing on guard while waiting for Bai Meiyue to check the things that they had brought with them.

A tuft of white hair walked over to where Bai Meiyue was standing and bowed in front of her; his meaning was very clear.

“You all did a good job; it seemed like you brought more crystal nuclei than I asked you all to bring. Since that is the case, I will give you all more golden pills.” Bai Meiyue was quite generous when she saw that the weasels had brought her an extra set of crystal nuclei for her. She waved her hand and gave the weasels more than fifty golden pills that she had made with her own skills. They were even better than the ones that she had exchanged from the barter system.

The weasels rushed to grab the pills and smiled at Bai Meiyue once they smelled the dense spiritual energy within the pills. The leader of the weasels was especially smiling at her as if he were human.

The weasel handed Bai Meiyue the stack of papers that he had stolen from Master Song’s weaponry and then squeaked. “Squeak, squeak, squeak!”

“He says that these papers were hidden quite deeply in the warehouse. It seems like they are something useful, so he brought them for you, as humans only hide their precious things.”

When Bai Meiyue heard that these things were hidden deep in the weaponry, she arched a brow and took the papers from the weasel and took a glance at them. However, what she saw made her expression change. It seemed like she really was unaware of the cruelty of the human heart in the post-apocalyptic world. Someone was actually trying to create a human–zombie hybrid such that they could be able to create a mutant army for their own personal use.

They had even created a separate funding account to boost the promotion of this research.

‘I never saw such a thing happening in my past life,’ Bai Meiyue thought with a frown on her face. But then again, she died way too soon for the ugliness of the human heart to appear in its full form.

Bai Meiyue placed the secret information in her space and said to the group of weasels, “You have done a terrific job. If you want more golden pills, then you can continue bringing me crystal nuclei, and I will continue exchanging things with you.” As she finished speaking, she waved her hand and collected the crystal nuclei in her system before exchanging them with the barter system.

Bai Meiyue’s eyes scrunched up in happiness when she smiled softly; however, she didn’t rush to check the new changes in her barter system. Because just as the notifications stopped ringing, her eyes fell on the black mamba that came slithering past the hedges. He was dragging a box of crystal nuclei with his tail and wheezing loudly.

He was panting with his tongue rolled out of his mouth. Bai Meiyue looked at the size of the box and then looked at the size of the little snake.

Her lips twitched as she looked at the black mamba and said to him, “You can let go of it now.”

The black snake raised its head and looked at Bai Meiyue.

Bai Meiyue didn’t know whether snakes could show such a vivid expression of gratitude, but this one certainly did. It smiled at her, which was quite a horrifying sight and then flumped down on the ground with a small thud. The black mamba snake was not quite smart. He only knew one thing, and that was as long as he had the crystal nuclei in his hands, he would be able to get the golden pills from Bai Meiyue. Thus, even though the box was way too big for his small body, he stubbornly believed that he would be able to do it on his own. It was only when he started dragging this box out of the warehouse that he realised that he might have bitten off more than he could chew. But the decision was already made, and he couldn’t back down from it.

Bai Meiyue also sensed that the little snake had taken on a task way too big for his own body and exchanged the box of crystal nuclei with him for thirty golden pills.

When the black mamba saw the golden pill, his eyes lit up. Its golden amber eyes were emitting a shiny light as he took the golden pills that Bai Meiyue had given to him. Unlike the other snakes, he didn’t awaken a lot of skills, which caused him to be bullied by the other snakes. Now with these golden pills, he was sure that he would be able to get some fantastic skills and bamboozle everyone who told him that he was useless. Now he was going to show them that he was not just a little snake who couldn’t do anything.

It stuck out its tongue and hissed at Bai Meiyue with a flattering expression on its face.

“He says that he will exchange more crystal nuclei with you in the future.”

“Alright.” Bai Meiyue had nothing against getting more crystal nuclei and nodded in response to the little snake, who hissed happily and then slithered away with the golden pills that he had taken from Bai Meiyue. His speed of leaving was very fast, and there was no sign of being out of breath like he was just now.

Bai Meiyue: “…” You can join the drama club you know.
