Capítulo 700: Tact the size of grain
“Why didn’t you let me speak?” Once they were done with their breakfast, Bai Jixuan, who had been silent throughout the meal, spoke up. He was pouting aggrievedly as if Bai Meiyue had done him some great personal wrong.
“What else can you say other than asking Tong Huan to stop being unreasonable?” Bai Meiyue rolled her eyes as she thought of what her brothers had been doing the past couple of days. Bai Zhan was not good at expressing himself, which was causing more and more misunderstandings to arise. What was more, Bai Jixuan was not helpful either. He would either tell Tong Huan to get it together or tell her that she was thinking too much.
Tong Huan had a rather strong personality. Compared with the fact that she was still recovering from the murder of her adoptive family and the truth of being abandoned by her biological parents, she was a bit too fierce about a lot of things. She was insecure and wanted to fight for everything that she liked and desired. Her brothers were too insensitive to sense that, and Tong Huan didn’t know how to explain it either.
Then why don’t you tell them the truth, Boss? Ciyi asked with a woof.
“Because there is no point. I can help them today, but I cannot help them all the time,” replied Bai Meiyue.
Tong Huan and Bai Zhan’s personalities were way too different. They were like fire and ice. Tong Huan was fierce and explosive. She loved too deeply, and her brother was too calm and steady. Having been married once and going through all that suffering at the hands of his ex-wife, he was much steadier. Thus, it wasn’t even a surprise that her eldest brother was not fond of the passionate and burning love that Tong Huan had for him.
Bai Meiyue knew that neither of them was in the wrong. But neither of them was correct either. Thus, Bai Meiyue couldn’t take a stand for either of them.
Bai Jixuan rolled his eyes at her. “I am not, am I? She has been acting a bit overdramatic. It’s not like the eldest brother is going to sleep with that Xu Yiyi. She should at least trust our elder brother a bit more.”
“You have the tact of the size of a damn teaspoon, second brother,” Bai Meiyue snapped back. “It’s not about whether he is going to do something with Xu Yiyi or not. It’s about Tong Huan being insecure. As long as Elder Brother says a few words of comfort to her or at least expresses himself properly in front of her, then she would be able to understand that he truly cares for her. But he hadn’t done that. Who can you blame if Elder Brother doesn’t even know that he needs to do something so simple?”
Bai Jixuan was helpless when he heard Bai Meiyue’s response. He had to admit that what Bai Meiyue said was indeed correct.
But–
“How can you say that my tact is the size of a teaspoon? I understand Tong Huan better than my older brother.”
“Well, that’s some tough competition considering he has the size of a grain.”
“I… have nothing to say against that.”
Bai Jixuan had to drop the matter because he knew that he couldn’t hold his ground against Bai Meiyue now. The two siblings headed out of the mansion before separating. While Bai Jixuan headed to the training grounds, Bai Meiyue headed to the small greenhouse where the Meng siblings were staring at a bush of roses. She had been looking for the two of them for a while.
Since Tong Huan was worried about the so-called vixens, she might as well find a way to deal with them.
She headed over to the bench where Meng Qibao and Meng Suisui were sitting and noticed her brother waving at Meng Qibao with a flattering look on his face. Bai Meiyue arched a brow; maybe Bai Meiyue’s gaze was way too intense because Bai Jixuan raised his head and turned to look at her. When he caught her looking, Bai Jixuan smiled at Bai Meiyue sheepishly before turning around and walking away.
Bai Meiyue narrowed her eyes as she continued to stare at the back of her brother. She had a feeling that there was something that was going on between her brother and Meng Qibao. She just couldn’t prove it.
“Yueyue, is something the matter?” When Meng Suisui saw Bai Meiyue coming over, she snapped out of her daze and turned to look at her with little surprise in her eyes. She was lost in her thoughts just now and didn’t see her coming.
“Well, there is something wrong,” said Bai Meiyue. She propped her heavy belly and tired waist with her hands. She was a little out of breath. But before she could tell Meng Suisui and Meng Qibao that she wanted the two of them to head over to Butterfly Street and start teaching Xu Yiyi and her girls self-defence as well as the art of pleasing men through song and dance, such that they wouldn’t have to rely on their bodies. Of course, she wanted them to do something else, but Bai Meiyue knew that there was a very good chance that Xu Yiyi would simply start a rebellion against her if she tried to pull a stunt like this.
However, before she could say anything, the Meng siblings exchanged a dark look with one another, and then Meng Suisui immediately launched herself into an explanation. “Yueyue, I know what you are going to say. But don’t worry. We have nothing to do with Anzhi. We are not going to be soft-hearted, and we haven’t forgotten what she did to us and how she left us to suffer for the sake of pleasing others. Don’t worry, we are not so confused that we would let her take advantage of us.”
Meng Qibao nodded solemnly once his sister finished speaking.
“Oh.”
Oh? What did Bai Meiyue mean by ‘oh’? All of a sudden the two siblings became worried.
