Chapter 628: Chu Xia: My Daughter Is My Life.
If Bai Meiyue heard about this incident, then she would be so angry that he would be kicked out of the bedroom for more than a week! He turned and looked at his brothers-in-law before saying to them, “I did nothing wrong; she is the one who is clinging on to me!” He wished he could jump in the yellow river and prove that he did nothing wrong.
“There is no reason to swear,” said Bai Zhan calmly. “We can see that you did nothing.”
“Other than provoking that crazy woman,” Bai Jixuan muttered under his breath while holding onto the box that he was carrying in his hands. He stared down at the people on the ground and shouted, “Make her get lost or else we will be taking the supplies awya, do you think that you are being smart? Digging in the corner of my sister and wanting to eat her supplies. How shameless can you be!?”
Bai Feng’s face turned as dark as the bottom of the pan. He turned and looked at Lu Xinran and commanded, “Take Bai Xue inside, and tell my mother that she is not allowed to run outside again. If she does it, then don’t blame me for being rude.” Bai Feng glanced at the woman who was jumping up and down. He frowned when he saw how the dress was almost dangling off her bosom and the way he could almost see up her skirt; he averted his gaze and frowned even harder.
Was this really the sweet and kind Bai Xue he knew?
He recalled Bai Meiyue’s mocking words when the woman looked him in the eye and told him that he had no idea what kind of people the family members of the Bai family were. And that he was setting himself up for disappointment. Back then he thought that Bai Meiyue was saying those words because she was angry but now he knew that those were not angry words. His sister saw the reality of this family much better than he could!
However, his sense of loyalty and the responsibility for raising him still weighed down on his shoulders. He was an illegitimate child and yet Chu Xia had never treated him any different than the others; at least he had the same education as Bai Xue and Bai Meiyue. That alone was enough for him to be buried under the Bai Family’s gratitude.
Especially Chu Xia.
Lu Xinran had long hated Bai Xue; she nodded and caught the woman by the back of her dress and dragged her inside the house.
“What are you doing let go of me!?” Bai Xue turned and glared at the woman who was dragging her like she was a sack of potatoes. She said to Lu Xinran, “Are you trying to kill me? Do you know how hard you are choking me?”
Lu Xinran glanced at the woman and sneered hard. “And what about the smelly shit that you just dropped for all of us to smell? Did you think hard enough when you did that? We all are choking hard because of the smell of your mess that you left behind.”
Bai Xue’s expression changed again and again when she heard the words of the woman. She opened her mouth to fight back but before she could say a thing, Lu Xinran kicked her inside the house. She then looked at Chu Xia, who was staring at her with her mouth fallen agape.
Chu Xia stared at Lu Xinran and then dropped her gaze and looked at Bai Xue. Her daughter seemed quite alright but from the expression on her face, Bai Xue seemed to be a bit shaken up. She pulled Bai Xue into her arms and glared at Lu Xinran before saying to her, “What do you think you are doing? How can you treat my daughter like this?”
“She is the sister of your leader; how can you push and kick her like this? What if she gets hurt?” Chu Xia said to the woman angrily. If not for the fact that she couldn’t rush out and question Bai Feng, she would have done it. But she knew that if she ran to Bai Feng, then the man would only ignore her. Even though Bai Feng hadn’t kicked them out like they expected him to, he had indeed changed. Bai Feng had gotten colder and colder with the three of them. His patience had also started to get shorter with them.
Now Chu Xia knew that the man was only taking care of them because he felt obliged to do that, because she had fed him the lessons that she had given him a much better life than other illegitimate children. Though she was relieved to realise that Bai Feng would not abandon their family without any reason, she also felt worried. Yan Wanning was not dead, which meant the danger of Bai Feng finding out his background was still there. If he ever found out the truth about his identity, Chu Xia was worried that he would kill Bai Xue and her husband.
She didn’t care about her life and death but she couldn’t even think about Bai Xue dying.
No, she had to come up with a way to stop Bai Feng from killing her daughter.
“You should be asking your precious daughter what she did outside,” sneered Lu Xinran. “Do you even know what she did? She ran out dressed like that and told Lei Qian that she was willing to serve him in the bed. That too in front of Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan. do you think that we are not in enough trouble already?”
“We have no supplies and we are almost this close to dying because of starvation. Bai Meiyue was kind enough to send some supplies, including fans and vegetables, along with water. And your daughter ran ahead to dig her corner. You should be glad that I brought her inside; if not, the Bai brothers and Master Lei would have flown away with the supplies and your daughter would have been killed by the survivors of the entire base.”
