Chapter 636: Chapter 636: Proposal-1

Qin Feng’s eyes softened, and for a long moment, he didn’t say anything.

Then he reached out, gently brushing a strand of Su Jiyai’s hair behind her ear.

“I’ll go anywhere with you,” he said softly. “Even if it’s to the edge of the world.”

Su Jiyai chuckled, her cheeks slightly pink. “The edge of the world, huh? You make it sound like a fairy tale.”

Qin Feng smiled. “Maybe it is. Maybe we both deserve one after everything.”

She leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder.

“Do you ever think about… what kind of world we’ll leave behind when all of this ends?”

“I do,” he admitted quietly. “Sometimes I think about how strange it is, we used to fight just to survive a single day, but now we’re building futures again. You brought that change, Jiyai. You gave people something they’d forgotten how to have.”

She tilted her head slightly. “Hope?”

He nodded. “Exactly that.”

Then Su Jiyai suddenly said, her voice low,

“You know… when I heard Mom’s heartbeat, it felt like time stopped. All these years, I’ve been chasing power, fighting, building, fixing things. But that one sound made everything worth it.”

Qin Feng smiled faintly. “That’s because you’ve been fighting for love all along… not just survival.”

She looked at him with gentle eyes. “And what about you? What have you been fighting for?”

He hesitated, then said quietly, “For you.”

Her breath caught for a moment. He wasn’t joking… his tone was too steady, too sincere.

Qin Feng went on,

“At first, it was duty. You were the only one who could change things. But somewhere along the way, I stopped thinking about the mission. I just wanted to make sure you’d never be alone again.”

He hugged her tightly, and for a moment, neither of them moved.

Su Jiyai could feel the warmth of Qin Feng’s chest and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against her cheek.

She suddenly felt something inside her stir, something she couldn’t hold back.

Without thinking, she tilted her head slightly and pressed a soft kiss on his jaw.

Qin Feng froze for a second, his breath catching. It was as if a quiet switch had been turned on.

The next second, he looked at her with dark, deep eyes that made her heart race.

Then, without hesitation, he gently pushed her down onto the bed and kissed her passionately.

The kiss was fiery and full of emotion. Su Jiyai felt her whole body melting under his touch.

His hand went to her waist, and the warmth of his palm made her shiver.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back with the same hunger she had kept locked inside her for too long.

Time seemed to stop. The kiss went on and on until both of them were breathing hard

Qin Feng finally pulled back slightly, his lips brushing against her neck as he trailed small kisses down to her collarbone.

Then he suddenly stopped and pressed his face into her shoulder, breathing heavily.

“I truly want to do bad things to you right now,” he whispered, his voice low and full of desire.

Su Jiyai blinked, still catching her breath. Then she smiled softly, patting his back as if to calm him.

“You’ll be able to do that soon,” she said teasingly.

Qin Feng lifted his head, looking confused. “Soon?”

She chuckled and said quietly, “After all, we’re going to get our marriage certificate soon, right?”

Qin Feng paused. For a second, he just stared at her, then a slow smile appeared on his lips. “You mean that?”

Su Jiyai nodded, her cheeks turning a little pink. “Of course. I wouldn’t joke about something like that.”

Qin Feng’s eyes softened, and he leaned down to kiss her forehead gently. “Then I’ll wait,” he said quietly.

The next few days passed quickly. Su Jiyai became busy again with her formula research.

She spent most of her time in the laboratory, testing, mixing, and calculating.

Every time she saw her mother’s heartbeat growing stronger, she felt a new kind of hope burning inside her.

“If I keep modifying the formula,” she said one evening while looking at the glowing potion on the table, “maybe I’ll find the perfect one… the one that can fully bring Mom back.”

Jacob, who was standing beside her, felt his heart ache with pride.

“You’re doing so much, Jiyai,” he said, his voice trembling slightly. “Your mother would be proud of you.”

Su Jiyai smiled faintly, not looking away from her work. “I just want her to wake up, Dad. I miss her.”

But Jacob wasn’t happy with everyone. There was one person who left a strange bitterness in his heart every time he saw Su Jiyai working with… Kane!

Even though Kane had been one of the people who helped Anna a lot, Jacob never liked the way he looked at Su Jiyai. There was always something too deep, too soft in his eyes.

Jacob had confronted him before, quietly, when no one was around.

“I know what you feel for my daughter,” Jacob had said, his tone low and serious. “But she’s already engaged to Qin Feng. Don’t forget your place.”

Kane had only smiled slightly, his sharp teeth just visible. “Don’t worry, old man,” he had replied calmly. “I won’t stoop so low. I’m not trying to take her away. I just… care about her. That’s all.”

But Jacob didn’t trust him. He often made sure that Su Jiyai and Kane didn’t spend too much time together.

“Who knows what that half vampire is thinking,” Jacob muttered more than once.

The truth was, Kane had become a half-vampire because of Anna’s insistence. That was why he had survived all these years.

Ironically, Su Jiyai had later discovered that vampire blood could resist the zombie virus.

That discovery became the key ingredient in her antidote, the potion that saved humanity. She even used it in the vaccines later on.

Still, Kane’s presence made Jacob uneasy.

Meanwhile, Qin Feng had been busy with something else.

He often disappeared for hours, saying only that he was “preparing something.”

Su Jiyai didn’t think much of it at first, but one afternoon… about two weeks later… she got a sudden call from him.

His voice came through the line, warm and excited.

“Jiyai, can you come to the city mall? I’m waiting for you here. There’s something I want to tell you.”

Su Jiyai frowned slightly. “Something to tell me? What is it?”

“You’ll see,” Qin Feng said, chuckling. “Just hurry, okay?”

Su Jiyai sighed but smiled. “Fine. I’m on my way.”

She turned to the researcher beside her and said, “I’ll be gone for a bit. Keep monitoring Mom’s condition.”

“Yes, Boss Su,” the researcher said quickly.

Su Jiyai walked out of the lab, still thinking about what Qin Feng could be up to. But just as she stepped outside, a man approached her, holding a single red flower.

“Miss Su Jiyai,” he said politely, handing her the flower. “This is from the man who loves you the most.”

Su Jiyai blinked in surprise. “Huh?”

The man only smiled and walked away.

She looked at the rose in her hand, feeling a bit confused. Then she continued walking… and just a minute later, another person stopped her, holding another red rose.

“This is from the man who loves you the most,” he said, just like the first one.

By the time she reached the third street corner, she had received at least five roses, each handed to her by a different stranger saying the same thing.

“What in the world…” she muttered, staring at the growing bouquet in her hands.

Finally, when she reached the city center mall, she was holding a small bunch of roses.

The distance between the lab and the mall was only five minutes, but by the end of that walk, her heart was racing with curiosity.

Something felt different.

She paused at the entrance, looking around. The whole place seemed strangely quiet. People were gathering outside, whispering and smiling at her.

Su Jiyai frowned slightly. “System,” she said in her mind, “is there any instant function that can help me look ready in two minutes?”

The system responded. [There is one, but it costs one million coins.]

“I’ll buy it,” she said without hesitation.

“Confirmed,” the system replied.

The next second, her body shimmered with light… and when it faded, she looked like a goddess.

She was wearing a beautiful blue gown that looked like the night sky itself.

The edges of the gown were light blue, and as it went upward, it turned darker and darker, until it looked like she was wrapped in twilight. The fabric sparkled every time she moved.

Her pale skin glowed softly under the sunlight, and her hair was tied in a neat bun with two curls framing her face. Her makeup was light but perfect, making her look almost unreal.

People around her gasped.

Su Jiyai felt a little shy but continued walking toward the mall entrance.
