It was an old man who worked at a nearby shop. He usually came to the empty alley to meet with his friends.
He arrived as usual today. As he walked further into the road, his nose twitched. He smelled something bad.
“Is there a house on fire?” he asked himself.
The old man started looking at the surroundings. His gaze then fell on two charred corpses.
His heart jolted awake the next second. Horror was written all over the old man’s face. He couldn’t believe what he was witnessing.
The smoke was coming from the charred corpses, not from a house fire. When the realization dawned on him…
“Aaahhhh!”
The old man turned around and started running frantically. He let out a scream while running.
When the old man entered the busy street, his scream alerted others and drew the attention of the large crowd.
Everyone turned towards the old man. The shop owners and the staff working in those shops recognized him.
They were stunned to hear his scream. They didn’t know what had happened. Then, the staff came to the old man one by one.
The crowd gathered around him; they wanted to hear what was going on.
The old man looked at the crowd and the familiar faces around him. He relaxed a lot, and the fear on his face reduced a little.
He took a deep breath before looking toward the others. Then, he told them about the two charred corpses lying in the nearby empty alley.
Gasp!
Hearing that, everyone was shocked. A murder had happened near their street. They started walking towards the empty alley.
When they arrived at the alley, they saw the two charred corpses. The smell was overpowering. The faces of the people turned ugly.
They understood that the old man’s words were true. The female warriors immediately left the spot; if they stayed any longer, they felt they might faint.
The male warriors were scared as well. They didn’t know who had killed them. The shop owners immediately reported it to the authorities.
Shortly afterwards,
The authorities came to the spot. They saw two corpses. Their faces changed as well. They didn’t know who had caused this murder.
The authorities immediately took the corpses back to the infirmary. They needed to identify them.
Meanwhile,
Morton Redford was spotted by someone. He was taken to the nearest medical clinic. From his clothes, his identity was clear.
So, he was given preferential treatment. His situation was reported to the higher-ups as well.
It didn’t take long for members of his medium-sized faction to arrive. They saw that one of their members was admitted there.
They recognized Morton Redford and were shocked to the core. When they heard the news earlier, they hadn’t believed it.
They knew Morton Redford was a Silver Mark Warrior. His family was a second-tier family allied to the Klein Family.
Even the warriors from the top 10 Factions didn’t usually cause problems for him. Yet, he had been beaten to this state by someone.
They immediately took Morton Redford back to Star University.

Hotel
That night, I was still waiting at the top of the hotel. My gaze fell on the people walking down below. So far, no warriors had come to the hotel.
It showed that no one suspected the hotel.

Suddenly, three figures appeared in front of me. The three were none other than Faction Leader Clifford, Faction Leader Francesca, and the Purple Mark Guard.
Phew!
Seeing them, I heaved a sigh of relief. I had been wondering where they were.
“It’s time to leave,” Faction Leader Clifford said with a smile.

She was worried that Zack Lockwood might have gone outside during their mission time.

We reached the Star University campus. Faction Leader Clifford took me back to the Thunderflame Faction.
He dropped me directly in front of the residence.
I thought he would leave immediately, but Faction Leader Clifford looked at me.
“I know you have a lot of questions. We did a major operation today. You will know tomorrow.” After saying that, he disappeared from the spot.
I stood there, stunned. “What major operation?” I asked myself. I was right; something major had happened. But I didn’t know anything about it.
A hint of curiosity appeared in my eyes.
Then, I calmed my heart and returned to the residence. I immediately entered the bath to take a shower.
The bath lasted for 20 minutes.
Then I walked out and changed into comfortable clothes. I went to the bed and lay on it. I looked at the ceiling and continued to contemplate.
I didn’t know what was going to happen tomorrow. But I decided to meet Ronnie Seth. I believed he must be awake by now.
If he learned about Morton Redford’s situation, he would be happy.
