Chapter 436: A Choice of Heart

Her heart was torn between making a choice. A choice she would either come to regret or love in the near future.

Her love and her brother.

Ethan and Leon.

Lisa Richards, a name she had discarded a long time was confused, hurt… she didn’t know what to do.

What would Lisa Richards do?

What would Pisces Kael’Dri do?

The answers were obvious. Lisa, the fool, would choose her brother, regardless. Pisces, the changed one, would choose her lover, regardless. Above anything else!

Then why was she tearing up in her room? She didn’t know. She didn’t understand. She couldn’t understand. She felt like tearing her hair out, but that wouldn’t do anything for her.

She was beyond frustrated. Her brother had changed. She had felt it… no. She knew it. They were the same but different. She was a fairy, but her brother was a fae, a dark fairy.

His hatred and jealousy of Ethan had made him into a twisted being. Leon was also the reason why she was like this… stagnant, with no advancement in ranks for the past two decades. She was still at the Grandmaster rank. She was just a step from breaking through, but she was stuck because of her brother. She wanted to believe in him, that he’s alive, well, and good. Better, kind, but no…

All her hopes had been doused with cold water. He was anything but good. He was now a monster. A dark, twisted monster who killed people without remorse.

Ethan was too weak to face him. Lamair and Trevor were all too weak to face him.

Leon wasn’t just a Saint. He was a true Saint close to the second Epiphany. The only people who stood a chance against him in the empire were Barki, Asteria, and Zark, but Ethan had strictly told everyone not to interfere.

Pisces was dying inside.

Knock! Knock!

A soft knock sounded in her ears.

“Pisces? Honey, are you in there?” She heard Barki’s voice from behind the door to her room.

“Mm… com… e in…” She answered in sobs, her voice breaking.

Barki entered the room to find a disheveled Pisces, lying on the floor of her room, and crying her heart out. Her blue hair was strewn all over, and her eyes were red from tears.

Barki quickly went to her side and softly raised her head onto her thighs. Her face showed worry and understanding of her wife’s situation.

“Pisces…” Barki started, but her voice broke off midway, not allowing her to continue her sentence.

“What should I do? I don’t want Ethan to die… not like this. Not when we are expecting a baby…” Pisces cried.

“What of your brother?” Barki asked.

“I don’t want him to die either, but…”

“But?”

“He can’t be saved. He’s already on the other side.”

“And you don’t want him to die?”

“Y-yes…”

“Do you know why Darling asked us to stay grounded? Why he refused to allow any of us to be there?” Barki asked Pisces, to which she shook her head in denial.

“Because of you.”

“Me?”

“Yes, you. He doesn’t want you to see both of them tearing each other apart.”

“But, he can die! He will die!”

“How sure are you?”

“…I don’t know, but Leon is a dark fairy of the highest order. A fae… at the Saint Realm. Second Epiphany… almost…”

“You gotta be kidding me!” Barki exclaimed in disbelief.

“I’m not!”

“Then why can’t I tell when I’m at the Third Epiphany?”

“Because he’s a Fae! A FAE!”

“Fae… no way! A being of Chaos?!”

“Yes…”

“We need to get Ethan and the others out of there,” Barki said, her eyes glowing slightly. “But, he used his authority to refuse us…”

“He used his Ancestral Authority on his followers. You are not a follower. You can save him.”

“But… I will be going against the orders of a Primogenitor and my soulmate…” Barki stated with her head down.

“Are you a dragon or an overgrown lizard?”

“Wha!”

“Where’s your pride in your soulmate? If he dies, we will have no purpose to live for. Are you willing to see that happen because he’s a Primogenitor? Titles are nothing in the face of death!”

“I understand. I will go there with Seraphis…”

“I will go too.”

“I know, but I’m part of the reason for this hate war… I will go!”

“I will have to kill your brother if push comes to shove…”

“Then do so when the time comes. He may be in the body of my brother, but my little brother died two decades ago from his own mistake!” Pisces said with determination as she picked herself up from Barki’s thigh and the floor. She shimmered faintly as she cleaned her tears.

“You are close to breaking through to the Emperor Realm!” Barki commented with a smile.

“I just needed to make a choice, and my heart helped me… as always,” Pisces said as she recalled the second time she came into contact with Ethan. She was almost naked back then and had evolved into a fairy because of Ethan.

She made a choice then to be with Ethan forever, and she has never regretted it. This was a second choice, and she had still chosen Ethan.

No matter the kind of choices she would have to make, she would continue to choose Ethan, regardless of the outcome. And she knew she would never regret it. Not now. Not ever!

…

Barki was in her own thoughts as she and Pisces moved through the corridors towards the main entrance of the mansion. Seraphis was waiting for them there.

This action of hers had implications far from just the realm of physicality. It had supernatural and spiritual implications, if everything went south, but she was willing… determined to do it.

She would lose her right as a dragon and her title as one of the rulers for going against the orders of a Primogenitor. She could also die from Fafnir’s Curse for interfering in the affairs of two strangers to the Dragon Empire, and the one thing she feared the most…

She might lose Ethan’s love and trust.

“I see you all made the same choice…” Harley’s voice entered her ears as she focused with wide eyes at the scene in front of her. All the wives of Ethan, Lamair, and Trevor were in armor, with their respective weapons… even those pregnant.

“Where are you all going?” Barki asked, though she knew the answer.

“To get back those three idiots, of course,” Harley answered.

“But, you are pregnant!”

“I will protect my mistress,” A light, beautiful voice sounded from the doorway. It belonged to a beautiful girl in a white battle dress with golden designs. She was Teria, Harley’s spirit beast. She had long golden hair, white eyes, butterfly wings, and butterfly antennae.

“That’s not the point! We have seven pregnant women here!” Barki exclaimed.

“And we have ten normal women, plus our spirit beasts. Do you think anything could happen to us?” Christel retorted while looking at Asteria.

“I’m not gonna fight, but I will make sure to protect all of you. Happy now, Barki?” Asteria said as she corrected her battle dress. It was a beautiful silver color with blue designs, made with flowing metal and nanotechnology. In fact, all their armor was made with that, but Asteria’s own was especially something else. Truly the god of Cybernetics.

She didn’t even need armor in the first place. It was purely a formality.

“You people are beyond saving…”

“Tell that to Leon when you meet him! Oops… sorry, Pisces.” Clara’s voice was sharp with anger, but the moment she realized the slip, she softened and offered a quick apology.

“It’s nothing, Honey. Leon is already dead,” Pisces said with a smile, but her eyes were cold and determined. Determined to destroy everything and anyone to save her soulmate, her lover, her Ethan!

…

A storm was coming. Not the kind that howled through clouds or shattered rooftops, but the kind born from old wounds and unfinished sins. Ice groaned beneath the weight of killing intent. Frost spiraled upward like breath from the lungs of a frozen god. Two destinies, twisted by envy and betrayal, were finally aligning in the same place once again.

This battlefield of steel and snow wasn’t just a stage for violence; it was the graveyard of whatever humanity remained between them.

The past twenty years had turned rivalry into vengeance… and vengeance into something far darker.

High above the silent carnage he crafted, Leon gazed down at the one person he blamed for everything he became.

While below, Ethan, half Saint, half wounded rival, stared up at the monster he was forced to confront.

Ice cracking. Power rising. Eyes that once held competition now promised ruin.

Ethan against Leon.

Primord against Fae.

An event that had happened many times in the past, but this was the last time. Only death would decide the outcome. Only death can appease them.

Or maybe, Fate as always, would interfere…
