Capítulo 1760: Huge Construction Projects! (Part 2)

Zenno promised to mention this project the next time they buy fire awakening potions from him. He, unfortunately, didn’t have direct contact with them to initiate contact.

What actually happened was that the dwarves would send a mechanical bird whenever they needed to see him. It didn’t matter where he was, as long as he wore the pendant they gave him, that specific mechanical bird would find him.

This contraption alone was extremely fascinating, but he didn’t have any idea how that worked either, so Althea could only dream for now.

Anyway, back to the present, the development of various residential areas was already underway.

One was new villa areas, located around the southern area (and eastern side of the avenue), though a bit farther from the avenues for less traffic.

Unlike the commercial areas that required high traffic, the villa areas wanted more peace and quiet.

There was only one neighborhood like this, but it would have more units than the farm villa area and the other villa area combined. The cuts were a bit smaller, though, and they were more single detached houses than actual villas.

For phase 1, this was the only community with houses like these because Alterra knew that they’d be taking in a lot of people soon. The denser construction was much more practical to invest in. Even if they made another villa area, it’d be in phase 2.

This community’s advantage over the areas with bigger cuts was that they’d have their own amenity area with its own clubhouse with pool, playgrounds, and function rooms. There would even be small basketball and tennis courts there.

Ansel and Winona bought a house here, and they urged for an even bigger playground than originally planned for their kids.

Being part of the decision-making team had a lot of advantages…

Other than these, there were more mid-rise buildings.

Althea sent an announcement for the construction of not only the villa areas, but also several mid-rise buildings. These were tall buildings so people liked to watch them as well.

Further, they had already pre-sold these units. Chances were, the new unit owners would be there to watch their new home be built!

There were also many aborigines and guests who came to join the fun. The inner walls were now surprisingly less energetic because a good portion of the population was roaming outside and watching all the construction going on.

For example, there was Bart, Sipa, and the others. The construction of their base had begun, and they just witnessed the groundbreaking.

Their hometown, Twinwave, was already fully built even when they were young. How often could they watch construction like this—especially their own property? They were determined not to miss a thing.

They commissioned the design and the construction of their building from Brianna’s Design firm.

Not all architects worked in the Construction department. Of course, because almost all construction projects were commissioned by the territory before, this didn’t happen until recently.

Currently, the one and only private design firm was Brianna’s, who was an awakened architect and was Oslo’s apprentice. After catching wind of the new developments, she resolutely resigned from her ‘government’ position and took the risk of taking things private.

After they unified the Terran region—unofficially called the Alterra Region by some people now—a census of sorts was formed, so she knew who worked in design and engineering firms back in Terran.

With her savings and a couple of loans, she not only paid downpayment for a nice office space (it was in her home for now, but she got one in the soon-to-be-built mid-rise buildings), but she also used some money to get many of these professionals to Alterra!

Speaking of offices, not every unit in the mid-rise buildings was residential. However, because it was a custom system building that was designated for living, they couldn’t completely use the units purely as office spaces.

Rather, after some experiments, they found a loophole and found that they used the Home-office/Officetel model.

In this set-up, some buildings would have a small amount of units on the ground to second floor as offices, ideally used as homes as well, while the rest had to keep to their proper use of purely residential buildings. This was why the cut of the units on the lower floors was twice that of the upper floors.

Of course, the unit prices were also very beautiful, but Brianna was a system-professional, so the loans she could take from the bank were pretty high!

It was definitely more than enough for the downpayment. Her payment terms for the balance were also quite generous!

She designed her unit to have half of its space for office work, and the rest as a dormitory for these new hires of hers. She, on the other hand, still lived in the nice detached house she bought with her brother. They owned a floor each and had their own garden, so she wasn’t giving that up.

A few weeks ago, she went to the mercenary teams Alterra was partnered with and offered her services. She also had the advantage of having an idea about where and the lot sizes before others, so she was able to make advanced designs.

When she met with these mercenary teams, she already had drawings prepared, and they just needed to choose among the stencils, customizing some things as needed.

The designs varied with the building footprint, the ratio of the training rooms, the number of bedrooms vs dormitory rooms, the amenities, and so on.

The one Bart’s team chose was a lovely courtyard design villa with a nice quadrangle in the middle.

Brianna called it the Xenoan-Mediterranean style.

It was not a design or layout they had seen before, but when Brianna explained the advantages and comfort, they were immediately tempted!

Bart and his team looked at the mid-rise buildings growing floor by floor as the hours passed by, which they could watch even from their own lot, and then the ongoing manual construction of their own place.

This wasn’t even their main base, but how excited they were right now!?
