Capítulo 1745: The New System Buildings (Part 2)

The family made the announcement while they were already in the area, so it was not a surprise to meet more and more people congregating there as they walked.

People who saw them allowed a smooth path ahead of them, and it also gave them a chance to wave and coo at the little ones, curiously looking around.

“Good morning Babiesss!”

“So cute~”

“Ahhh! They’re wearing onesies today~ Kyaaa~”

“Ahhh, my morning is perfect now!”

Both babies loved attention, and seeing such bright and loving energy directed at them made them giggle, and the childish sounds and their adorable faces made people melt.

Anyway, people continued to flow into the area, and Althea excused the family as they got to an ideal position.

Soon, hundreds, no, thousands, of people gathered along the new rotunda. By the time the soil was depressed by magic to create the foundation, random street stalls around the site had already appeared.

Because there was no formal market yet outside the inner walls, people could build stalls here and there without repercussions. She took a mental note of making announcements on the timeline they would be allowed to do so.

The construction would be by phases, so the random stalls wouldn’t be forbidden in all places, just where the construction was ongoing, as well as where development had already settled down.

She wasn’t that uptight. Her citizens doing business on idle land was quite welcome. It added tax to her wallet, after all.

Goodness knows her wallet needed a bit of filling up…

Similarly, most people were quick to make themselves comfortable with picnic blankets, chairs, and even elevated chairs to watch it.

The woodworkers apparently released something called a ‘watch from a height’ chair, which was obviously inspired by combining a sports umpire’s high chair and… a baby’s high chair.

Basically, it was a retractable chair that easily fit in one’s space, but it could be expanded to about 2 meters high. One person can sit down, and it also had a small table people could use to eat.

At first, it was mocked by people. Who’d want to be called a big baby?

But who knew, starting among audiences in sparring arenas and basketball games, it started entering the norm, and no one would get mocked for using it anymore.

Despite the competition for good viewpoints, the watchers still gave way to a certain group of people. For example, the elders—no, they were called ministers now.

“Oh, Lady Althea! Sir Garan! BABIES!”

“Oh~ We have prepared cushioned seats for ministers!”

“Lady Mathilda, Sir Gru, and Lady Rosalind are already watching near the constructions!” another said, pandering. “Would you like to join them?”

The three older ministers were indeed quite comfy. There was even a charcuterie board prepared for them. How people got so quick with these things, no one knew.

Althea and Garan looked at the seats that were indeed very cushioned. Althea remembered someone once said they’d have readied a throne if they knew she was coming. Look at them now.

She chuckled but politely shook her head. “We’re fine watching from a distance,” she said. “We’d like to take a walk around as well.”

“I see, I see! Have a great day!”

There were many who also said their farewells to the children. “Bye Babies~ thank you for gracing us with your presence~”

The family smiled and walked along the rotunda. The circle itself was designed to be a park, which could be accessed from the underground walkways.

Construction hadn’t started yet, so the earth underneath was not hollowed out yet. From this, she created an elevated platform that lifted her and the family above the trees. She added a railing for safety, too.

“Uwaaaa!” Pepper said, her lips puckering in amusement. She quite liked the sensation.

“Wao! Wao!” Meatball liked his heights.

The couple chuckled at how fearless their children were. This made them both relieved and also worried. They were relieved that they were likely to grow up as brave kids—which was necessary for a good life in a place like this. But they were also worried. Weren’t the children just borderline thrill junkies?

They shook their heads and decided to think about that later. For now, they continued to observe the new construction as well as the large unbuilt region that surrounded it.

This new position gave them a better vantage point of the two buildings, as well as the rest of the Civic Rotunda.

She went here not just to watch the building, but also to visualize what the rest of the area would be.

It was a rotunda, so naturally, there were roads leading to it. The new buildings and complexes were located in the lots between these roads.

Other than the Administration Road, another one of the roads—the one where the Mercenary Hall was adjacent to—was thereby called Mercenary Avenue. The lots behind the Mercenary Halls would have large cuts, around 2000-3000 square meters in size.

This was where she’d allow mercenary teams to lease a large parcel of land to build their respective bases. She was also open to renting up to 2 adjacent spaces if the cut was too small for them. There would also be some parks and commercial areas in between a few lots to serve the people here as well.

Considering they already had reservations from Bart, the Takoda mercenary Team, and a few others, she did consider adding another block for them. She should announce it soon so she’d have an idea how many lots she would prepare for them.

The lease would be fixed for 10 years and paid for, which should be sufficient for these mercenary teams to take root in the territory.

Further, each mercenary team would have its own needs and requirements, so their construction was definitely manual. While it’d take longer than others to build, the customization would make sure that the buildings fit well with their needs. This could make the mercenaries even more attached to their place. Maybe they could even move bases here.

That said, whether they would just be a branch or the main base didn’t matter. These mercenaries were added forces and would increase the overall population strength of the territory.

And Althea was definitely planning on supporting their growth.
