Capítulo 1744: The New System Buildings (Part 1)
As for what else would be built along this large rotunda, it was naturally the two new system buildings, Healing Sanctuary and Mercenary Hall, as well as a large mall.
They knew, from Jonathan’s dad’s notes and from their visit in Ferrol town, that the Healing Sanctuary was very effective for wound and other injuries. They also knew that the costs were high, which was why Ferrol ultimately didn’t buy one.
However, Alterra did not lack money. Rather, her goal was the same as it always was during fights: Minimal, if no, casualties.
If the territory let the building be used at cost price, or perhaps even create subsidized usage for a set of people who fought for the territory, then she was willing to sponsor their treatment.
That said, before starting the construction of the two new buildings, she made sure to send out an announcement.
She knew that her people loved to watch this happen, and there were actually people taking videos, which they got a copy of to archive as well.
When the other territories also upgraded to Town, the people there would also document the construction of other building types (and at different angles, too). It was just a nice compilation to have in their library. It reminded them of the magic of the place.
Anyway, a minute later, people all over paused their tracks and froze whatever they were doing as a new announcement resounded across the territory.
[The Healing Sanctuary and Mercenary Hall construction will commence in 10 minutes. They will be abutting the new Civic Rotunda Southwest.]
Civic Rotunda was the name of this area (the ministers named it) because the government complex was occupying a huge portion of its arc. Further, someday, the guilds would as well, so it felt like an apt name.
Anyway, after the announcement, she proceeded with beginning the construction.
[Would you like to build the Healing Sanctuary in this location? The cost is 7000 wood, 5000 stone, 10000 gold. Yes | No]
[Would you like to build the Mercenary Hall in this location? The cost is 15000 wood, 10000 stone, 30000 gold. Yes | No]
She had naturally checked the price before making an announcement, though she still couldn’t help but feel dizzy when she saw the numbers.
The cost of higher-level special buildings was so much higher than the previous levels. Wasn’t the Post Office just a few thousand?
If she hadn’t taken over two towns, it was estimated she’d have needed to choose which to build and save up. While there was a lot of money circulating through the bank, a lot of that was the territory’s fixed and massive operating costs, so she did not want to touch it.
And with this type of increase, wouldn’t some of the major buildings at the next levels cost hundreds of thousands of gold?
Then again…, considering the Mercenary Hall’s functions, she wasn’t too surprised at the massive costs of building it.
She gave her territory’s stats one last look before the numbers changed once more.

The level 7 walls and sentries were really not cheap.
Fortunately, she could also convert her silver and copper to gold, albeit there was a conversion cost of losing a small percentage.
After converting much of her silver and her copper, she ended up with an additional 5000+ gold, which was (literally) just enough for her purpose, fortunately.
[Purchased! Mercenary Hall! -15000 W, 10000 S, 30000G!]
[Purchased! Healing Sanctuary! -7000 W, 5000 S, 10000G!]
Now…her gold was in three digits, and the rest of the denomination was a big fat ‘0’.
“…”
Althea shook her head and moved on, refusing to look at her stats again today. She just continued on their way to the site, along with her family. They went on foot as they headed out, so she could observe the new road network better.
Before she made the announcement, she and her husband were already heading out to watch the commotion with the babies in cute little strollers in preparation for the crowds.
There was always a different sense of accomplishment when watching a special building get built right in front of her eyes.
When the announcement was made, the rotunda area was already in sight. The roads in the new area were as wide as those inside, and there were also provisions for benches and bike racks (a project given to the Woodworkers) as well as well-chosen shrubs and trees (a project given to the landscaping team).
There would be large parks but there would also be ‘pocket’ parks or green spaces as well. They placed them wherever there were cart stops, so people wouldn’t be impatient as they waited for the transport.
There would also be light posts built around the landscaping, as well as ample street lights, which would ensure the main throughfares would be well-lit.
All of these would be powered by solar power and be completely self-sustaining. There was no need for wires between poles, and it would be easy to replace them when they had to (and every time after a war, there would be plenty of cases of this).
Her eyes traced over the predominantly forest-filled area with wide roads cutting through, reminding her of how Alterra was in its early stages. Back then, weren’t people—after passing through a tall-for-its-level wall—greeted by forests as they entered?
She remembered many stories of how many people thought they had just crossed a threshold to heaven or something.
Then, she also heard of the stories of people telling others about how they watched the territory get built up bit by bit, with their own eyes, and they felt even prouder than when they made big personal accomplishments.
And, at present, like how it was back then, this new massive lot would also become well-developed, full of people, and full of dreams.
She smiled. Thinking of it made her quite excited.
