Capítulo 1734: Althea Finally Levels Up
Two hours later
Althea found herself kilometers away from where she originally was, closer to the other gate. She received a report of which side had the more powerful monsters, and she headed straight there.
She could only gain experience from weaker monsters if they were no more than 2 levels below her (which, she felt, was really unfair). So she had to find monsters with levels 17s through 19s to make the subsequent mana use worthwhile.
Fortunately, there was an abundance of level 18 monsters around. Its dimension was mostly horizontal, yet it stood at the height of a house. It was armored with oil-slick chitin plates that gleamed in hues of brown, green, and black. It almost looked metallic, except more disgusting.
It had whip-like antenna that twitched constantly, and its mandibles were serrated, creating a clanking noise that could shear through leather or light armor.
Basically, it was a giant cockroach. The only good thing was that it couldn’t fly.
Despite its size, however, it was quite fast and its movements relatively unpredictable. It would be a challenge to land the right shot, especially since the weaknesses were the narrow gaps amidst its armor.
Fortunately, with her [Precise Aim], she could target its weaknesses accurately right after she started to predict its movements. She had to take about three to four shots to kill it, though, but it was fine.

She fought like this without much care for her mana. She was chewing Harold’s improved mana cookies she had on stock even before, and fortunately, there were a lot of Cooks who awakened something similar, and she received quite a bit from them. Anyway, for now, she just focused on killing and not thinking of much else.
Finally, about an hour later—
[Congratulations. You have leveled up to Level 19!]
She nodded in satisfaction, activating her stats.

While her Health and Spirit were fine—understandably so as she was safe on the battlement the whole time—her mana was nearly gone, even after the upgrade. She was comfortable with a certain amount—at least a thousand—in case of an emergency.
She could really use some time to breathe, so she hoped that there would be no unexpected events in this tier.
She rested after this, going around the battlement and assisting as needed. She used the typical bow and arrows now (it was still Class C+, bought from the Rolan Mercenary Team traders by her husband), while the rest handled the remaining thousands of monsters.
She was no longer in a rush, so she took her time to try out her new skills—all to assist, of course. And since she was sensitive to her mana, she only used them if each technique could affect multiple enemies at once.
For example, she had now mastered the [Quicksand] skill she learned from the soldiers a long time ago.
She targeted the very swift Leapard, using its speed and agility against it. Because it was quick, the momentum when it landed was also strong, and she just had to target well, and they’d be stuck.
The Alterran archers would then take the chance to shoot them down.
Another was the water ability Water Control, which was the skill she used with the giant worm back then.
At some point, she’d settle down in a random area on the battlement and find a ‘moistured’ monster to experiment on.
The lower the level of the monsters, the easier it was to make it do whatever. For example, monsters 10 levels and below could be controlled to move meters easily. She blocked several attacks and protected quite a few people with it.
And then she’d also use vines to slow down enemies, and she even covered a portion of the wall with them.
Technically speaking, the walls weren’t scalable, so the vines could not really stick to them. However, what she did was to place the vines’ origin point above, and it just dropped down, so it technically wasn’t scaling.
She arranged it in a way that they wouldn’t be used to climb, but made it easier for her to trap enemies for the other Alterrans to take care of. It was already a known fact that as long as the monster’s level wouldn’t be helpful to Miss Althea, whatever monster she debuffed or trapped was a free-for-all.
If they were lucky to have the last hit, then that was that. Some would even brag that they were assisted by the beautiful Lady Althea~
That said, many people ended up watching whatever she did, and couldn’t help but talk among themselves.
“Ah…Lady Althea is so beautiful…I can stare at her all day.”
“Same.”
Some were so distracted they failed to see a Reaper jumping up, about to swipe a face off of someone.
SMACK!
Fortunately for them, a good portion of Alterrans were still alert, so it saved his life.
“Focus! Wanna get killed?”
“…sorry, sorry,” he said, touching his chest that was palpitating from shock. “I’ll treat you to good food later, promise!”
This way, the people watching Althea were a bit more controlled, and would watch her from the peripheral of their vision instead.
Others were a bit sharper than the fanboys, though. “Did Miss Althea always control water?” they asked, a bit confused, and trying to recall the few times they had seen the Elder fight.
One nodded. “Wasn’t it one of her elements?”
“Yeah, aren’t her elements wood and water?”
Another shook his head. “No, it was wood and earth!”
“…”
