Althea didn’t check her stats every day, especially since she was distracted with her new projects again. However, the last time she checked several days ago, the territory should still have had some ways to go before an upgrade. Because there was nothing that seemed significant, she didn’t feel the need to check again.
According to Jonathan’s father’s notes, the requirement to upgrade from Level 1 to a Level 2 Town was to have at least fifty thousand population—thirty thousand of which were citizens—as well as three thousand prestige points.
When she checked about three or so days ago, there were still a few hundred points left (a little over two hundred, if she wasn’t mistaken).
This was the point after the spike due to reunification and taking over two new towns. Those were extremely big moves that wouldn’t be matched in a while, if ever, so she believed that the next spike of prestige wouldn’t happen in a long time.
Unexpectedly…

Huh… when did prestige get so high?
She did not remember doing anything to the level of occupying yet another town or two.
Later, she’d be enlightened by this after she got a team of sociologists to study the events.
A few events had been happening since the war between the two towns, and quite a few of them had spread word about Alterra, bit by bit, mostly by word of mouth.
And a few days ago—it exploded.
Interestingly, it was because of a few events that happened simultaneously.
For example, in both Voumi and Flaret Town, the new Lords held banquets to announce the new leaders of the territory. These were held in their own territories, Voumi in Ferrol and Flaret in Twinwave.
They invited the noblemen in those territories, as well as the citizen leaders among the normal citizens (which was novel to them), mercenary leaders, as well as various friends and nobles from the original territory.
In Voumi’s case, Rowan and Silvia (and their guards, of course) started making public rounds, changing things and fixing problems in front of the population. With Alterra’s funding and help, the streetscape changed almost palpably, and it was very impressive.
The change of Lordship of the two towns had become very public even among the citizens now (before, it was limited to nobles and those who investigated), and naturally, it was faster to spread out.
They held feasts and public banquets, speeches, and so on, to reassure the people that it would only be good things after the suffering they had just been through.
This was also a show of prestige, both literally and in the system. Speaking of which, Twinwave had indeed increased by quite a bit, and it was more than what they had received in one time for as long as any of them could remember.
There were Alterran representatives here, of course, but Althea was too busy with other things that she really didn’t put parties in her mind. Besides, the two territories held their banquets at around the same time, and she didn’t want to be seen as biased.
Of course, considering her status as the Lord of Alterra would be visible in other people’s Lord Panels, she wasn’t an option to attend at all.
That said, while she knew that there would be celebrations, she let them be independent and do it whatever way they wanted. In any case, she didn’t imagine the effects to be so vast. But this was for later.
The food in these banquets was mostly Alterran food, spices, and condiments as well. It wasn’t to announce that Alterra was involved, but after eating Alterran food, everything else was simply inferior.
They did not know that many, many, visitors were already there at the time, curious about what happened to these two territories, which inexplicably spread Alterra’s name further out.
Somehow, after casual chats with some people there, they had also confirmed, even by insinuations, that the new Lords were allied or subsidiary to a new Town called Alterra, and it was pretty obvious they played a bigger role in these big events, regardless of whether Cauis spread anything.
Many of these investigators sent out posts updating their home territories, and that there was a new Town that was bold enough to manipulate other towns!
Then, the more they dug, the more they felt pale.
Soon, it was revealed that an entire region was created, with all territories either allies or subsidiaries, with a single Level 1 Town at its center.
This situation of one territory having a wide influence was not exactly unheard of, but this only happened with powerful cities.
After all, cities wouldn’t be able to become cities at all without enough influence. Otherwise, there would always be several territories that’d stand on their own, possibly with a different master.
The mysterious Alterra was also the source of a great number of products, apparently managing to bring in many innovations from their previous world to Xeno, the scale of which was completely unprecedented!
And… perhaps more importantly, it was also a region with hundreds of thousands of elementalists!! And this was a conservative estimate.
Any of these alone could make a territory pause and look and feel worried.
When this came to light, these people hurriedly sent more posts, warning their places, allies, and subsidiaries of this new Town!
Some had tones of curiosity and hoped to explore, but many had the tone of doom, as if they were an evil town that was just looking for ways to get its claws into various other places.
Added to this was Alterra’s own influence with its products, services, and ideology that had been spreading for a while, but with the defeat of the remaining powerhouses near their region, things just… burst out.
“Wife? What is it?”
Althea was pulled back to the present when she felt her husband’s cool hand on her forehead.
She blinked and looked around, realizing everyone was staring at her. This included the babies in their high chairs, staring at her with those large, beady eyes of theirs.
She then realized her awkward position while holding two spoons dripping with ice cream. She cleared her throat and put the spoons down, with her husband naturally wiping her hands with a tissue.
“I… well…, I just received a notification that we’re ready for an upgrade.”
“…”
Good luck guys!
