Capítulo 1714: Deaths and Revenge
“They really worked.” One of the voices, a male, couldn’t help but say. “I was worried because they couldn’t prepare too much.”
“I always thought people past level 40 are practically immune to poison.”
“Well, they haven’t met Lady—”
“Hush!”
“Oh.”
Now, they were not planning on letting these people live. But they didn’t dare underestimate the strength and tricks of powerhouses, especially Lords who had a lot of resources and possibly magic tools they hadn’t encountered yet.
What if they managed to escape somehow? They were taking so much effort to be low-key, how shameful it’d be to destroy the plan because they got a bit careless!
“They usually are immune,” one said. “It’s why it takes so long to create a single batch of this.”
“In any case, we need to take advantage of the null rules and their weaknesses during the war.”
They naturally could not have a lot of strong poison that could affect Level 40s. They reserved it to block the warehouse as well as to handle this particular room and the guards.
The other places couldn’t be touched and were just left as they were. This meant that, if they didn’t handle this quickly enough, the remaining guards of the palace could be informed and cause them a bit of trouble.
They wouldn’t lose exactly, considering the circumstances, but they wanted it as clean as possible, hopefully without injuries.
Speaking of that, the forces that had snuck into the palace were not few nor were they weak.
The Alterran military had always wanted to send special forces people to wars, but since they didn’t win wars and Alterra technically didn’t start wars, they didn’t have many chances.
Until now.
The “Secret missions” as a special ops team could finally be done!
The soldiers were quite excited about this, actually. It had been a while since they did something like this. They even wore masks and stuff, even if they had already taken the antidote for the poisons.
Anyway, the special forces quickly breezed through into the palace after the war, using the openings they found to enter the palace. It wasn’t even hard because not only were the rules null and void during war, but most of the Voumi forces were in Flaret.
They only had to wait in place, knowing the Lord wouldn’t be able to go inside the warehouse since warehouse teleportation (according to the Elders) was blocked as soon as war declarations were made, and they knew he’d be back to the palace, where there were still quite a few guards.
The leader of this special ops force was Eagle, and he made sure to use his wind ability to contain the poison in place, making sure it wouldn’t be wasted by leaking out, and continuously affect their intended victims.
That was to say, just the Lord and his guards.
If they had enough of this paralyzing potion, they’d have definitely applied it to the whole palace, but alas, they could only get one for a room.
He kicked the man and used his ability again to destroy the man’s clothing. It was really a sight to become blind to, but he did NOT want to pat this guy down.
They wish they didn’t have to do this, but they didn’t know where he hid the token.
What if it was in his underwear? Cringe.
Cut, Slash
It wasn’t easy because the Lord’s equipment was actually a C-class defense weapon. Not only was it durable and wouldn’t be cut by D-class weapons (which were what most of them had), it was also difficult to take off when its durability was high.
In the end, three elemenetalists had to shower the man with their elements, not caring whether they wounded his head, unskinned his face, or did other things.
Mafo could only scream like a pig, but no one could hear him because of the voiceblocker tool, which, by now, most high-ranking soldiers had thanks to them hiring the toolmaker who could actually make it.
It was like watching a boar being toasted alive, except it wasn’t just fire, it was also earth spikes, water balls, and so on, which made things even more torturous because he had no idea what would come next, and what would be hit next.
Further, Class-C equipment only protected what it covered, and this meant he rest of Mafo’s skin was relatively defenseless, causing deep wounds.
“AHHHH! STOP IT!!!”
“If you take out your Lord Token, we can,” Eagle said, throwing him small wind blades that didn’t use much mana, but felt torturous either way.
Mafo gritted his teeth. He knew that they’d just kill him if he gave it, so he simply delayed and waited for the poison to subside. His level wasn’t low; his own body could fight against something like this. He just needed time.
Mafo was not wrong about this. Alterra would not let a level 40 loose, even as a prisoner, especially one who did not deserve atonement, so he’d definitely get killed after they got the token.
The soldiers casually ‘undressed’ (and unskinned) the evil Lord. They did not feel pity for his seriously deprived state. Although they had no personal vendetta against him, they knew of his exploits and knew he deserved even worse a fate than this.
They could also kill him first before the token, assuming he had it on his body, but their humanity wanted to make him suffer a bit longer. Of course, two members had their weapons raised, ready to take the killing shot the moment he looked like he had enough strength to retaliate.
Soon, with a clank, his equipment evaporated, and the token finally revealed itself. It was really in his underwear.
Eagle was a bit squeamish and took a handkerchief to pick it up, placing them all inside a Token guard.
“YOU—”
It was here that an explosion of force emanated from their target, who now had no skin left intact.
“DIE!” he screamed, using what should be [Tremor] or a similar high-level skill.
Sad for him, despite the level differences, the special ops team was prepared for this.
With this, the blades finally slashed down, one landing on the man’s heart, and another on the man’s neck.
If Mafo knew he died in such an uneventful, humiliating way—losing his precious token so easily—he’d definitely roll around his grave forever.
