Capítulo 1706: Against Three Towns
Alterra Town
At this time, a military meeting was being held at the Center’s meeting hall. They were now planning their next step of action against Voumi, Valov, and now even Flaret Town.
They were naturally not going against them directly, but a few wars here and there—in whatever way or form—was definitely inevitable.
First was Flaret Town. The war with that one was bound to be even more difficult than Basset Town.
For one, because of its main resource—the drugs—it was bound to have a huge amount of loyalists and fighters. It was definitely rich, so their equipment should also be better than others of the same tier (except for Alterra, of course).
This was why they were not planning on actually going to war themselves.
It wasn’t that they thought they’d lose, but they would lose lives. Since not much was being threatened, it was not worth it. Flaret probably didn’t even know they existed.
On the surface, there was no connection between Flaret and Alterra. Why would Alterra expose itself?
Their main goal was simply to stop the drug distribution and rescue their Terran companions in that area. Ideally, they could also capture the masterminds and the chemists behind it. As for whatever punishments they’d face, they’d deal with it later.
“How many spies do we have in Flaret and Voumi Town?” she asked.
“We have a total of 30 in Voumi Town, and 21 in Flaret Town—not including Gian and the others. The rest of the territories had a combined total of twenty spies rotating among them.”
She nodded. In areas where they were not planning on directly getting involved with, like with Baccal Town, their spies were only there to gather and spread information.
They threw in the red herring called Baccal Town to give Voumi hope that they had a chance with Valov; otherwise, they could succumb under Valov and just work with them instead. Alterra could not afford Voumi and Valov working together, no matter what.
If they didn’t interfere like this, it could happen. What would Alterra do if it did?
They had to do a lot of underhanded things and framing operations for this not to happen, and they were not planning on failing in the end. This was while they were buying time as they gathered strength, influence, and investigated the drug problem.
They also made sure Valov was harassing Voumi for a long time, their attention on them, or at least to the source of the drugs.
If Alterra had to go to war with Valov (or its subsidiary) or Voumi, it would only be once the Terran region was more or less conquered.
However, now that they had found the source of the drugs, they had to nip it in the bud.
“Leak the source of the drug to Voumi Town,” Althea said after a pause.
“It’s time for them to deal with each other.”
…
Voumi Town
Pasa and Meer nervously looked out the window of their home. Pasa embraced his wife…and now his child, a newborn.
His eyes were teary, but he kept them at bay. His body was filled with bruises, but he was determined to protect his family no matter what.
Not long ago, the addicts had gone wild in their area. However, when they quieted down a bit—either weakened from fighting each other or finding a source elsewhere— he finally took it as his chance to leave.
He did not want to leave his pregnant wife behind, but had to go out at some point because he needed to work.
Who’d have thought that before reaching back, he’d encounter addicts who were desperate for money, asking fees to whoever passed by!
He needed money for food for his family, so he stupidly ran away. It was fortunate that he knew all the alleys and was a decent runner himself. Stupidly, he thought he’d be able to get out of it well.
They caught up to him and started beating him up. It was fortunate that his own level was decent, and the addicts had been weakened from lack of energy and lack of food (because they prioritized buying the powder over everything else), and he managed to push them back.
He knew that if he didn’t take them down, then he’d be taken down. Who would take care of his wife, then?
So he gritted his teeth and fought tooth and nail, beating up three men in exchange for almost all of his health.
Don’t look at Pasa appearing meek and weak. He had hung around with Rowan and was bullied a lot along with him. When he saw Rowan getting stronger through training day and night, Pasa was with him.
So, in terms of level, he was not inferior to these addicts, especially when many of them could barely stand up straight.
Fortunately, drug addicts were cowardly, especially when they saw that what he had wasn’t worth the injury.
Getting an injury in a dangerous place was akin to death. It was ironic, but even within the territory walls, this concept still applied.
Eventually, the addicts got bored with him and threw him to die at the side. He had to crawl back to another hiding place, but he honestly thought he’d lose breath soon. He cried, feeling sorry for his wife and unborn child.
Then, in what was probably the last attempt of rational thought his brain could muster, he remembered what was inside his space. Rowan mentioned it was for a serious injury. Without another thought, he drank everything.
Who’d have thought that the gift Rowan casually gave them was a superior healing potion, which ultimately saved his life?
At present, he was back with his family, able to move. The bruises and wounds on his body were still healing, but he could at least move enough to protect his family.
It was only going to get more chaotic as time went on, and it’d be a matter of time before the Town fell if nothing changed.
Pasa heaved a deep breath as he looked out. His mind had a thought:
Rowan, whatever you’re trying to do to this place, I hope you succeed.
Thank you for your support, Alterrans!
