Chapter 1630: Terran Region

“The other side has a very gifted chemist.”

Well, they couldn’t have all the experts, right? They knew this but they at least hoped those people wouldn’t bring the bad things, but that was wishful thinking in the end.

Anyway, regardless of whether it came from one source or not, it was very possible that they would not be the first or last to invent things that could cause Alterra (and other territories) some problems.

This was another reason for the consolidation, to be honest, in order to be alerted early on whether another territory was doing something big and negative.

It felt a bit overreaching, and in Terran, this might’ve been frowned upon, with all those debates about privacy versus safety back then, but it wasn’t like they were doing anything too disruptive.

Anyway, all they could do was to prepare to go against whatever they could think of. Of course, it wasn’t like the production of medicine was ever slowed down, nor were the integral projects in the research team ever deferred.

That said, the hospital has now added another multi-story hospital building, which required to use two sets of Aether blueprint materials, reducing their dwindling supply even more.

Fortunately, Oslo had done it more than once (though those ended up in the Bleulle Lord’s hands), so there was barely any wastage for this one. In contrast, if they used it in something they hadn’t done before and they consumed all the blueprints they had left, then they could only cry.

This was very, very impressive and Hoffen said even those veteran architects he knew—bless their old (very dead) souls—took several tries before succeeding, and those were decades older in age and experience compared to Oslo.

In fact, considering how well he was taught and how careful and concentrated Oslo was when making the aether blueprint, he could’ve done it in one go if the building were completely the same.

However, there were several differences, added functions and so on, depending on the needs (and future needs) of the territory. This underwent a lot of surveys and days-long meetings among the doctors and experts, and plenty of specialists really fought for their department to have bigger rooms.

Things admittedly got a bit…passionate (with two doctors almost going to prison for nearly entering a fist fight), but Oslo and Althea wanted to believe that the final design made everyone satisfied enough.

The upper three floors of the new five-story building remained the same collection of wards (some private, some shared), but the facilities on the ground and second floor were different.

There was a specialised maternity ward, a pediatrics ward, neonatal intensive care units, and so on. There were also more diagnostic facilities like an oncology unit (thanks to dear old Sahara prince), an expanded place for laboratory services, and the like.

They also took into consideration the various medical equipment that had been created after the first hospital building was erected. They also considered the equipment that was expected to rise eventually.

For example, provisions for MRIs and CT scans were added too. It’d take a while to actually build the machines, but they were always designing in advance, so it wouldn’t hurt to have extra rooms for them. They also improved their isolation bay, just in case.

And on the ground floor, abutting the gardens, there was also a rehabilitation center. One was for the physical therapy sessions (the original one couldn’t handle the load after the wars), and there was a new rehabilitation area for drug addicts.

The area was to promote their well-being and their mental recovery more than anything. There were also designs to make them less likely to have a relapse and make the withdrawals easier to go through.

The first patients were the ones from New Shrao Village. The people Shiro took were the decent ones. They didn’t dare send all the affected lest they irked Alterra for asking too much. So he prioritized the people who were decent people who’d contribute to Shrao’s growth, like some guards.

However, they found out that some of the ones left behind had either taken their lives or others’ and Shiro had to execute them. This made them feel heavy and even more thankful to Alterra. How many more could they have lost if they let it fester more.

Alterra would also receive messenger bird reports from the three teams recruiting allies too. Reddit had already trained a few birds the past couple of months, though out of three, two of the birds were newly trained and hadn’t been tested that thoroughly yet.

They had asked the teams to send reports for every two or three territories they passed by, and did have an approximate timeline they should be receiving them, expecting farther and farther distances between each letter.

As an approximation, the nearest Terran territory Northwest was around 300 kilometers. Voumi itself was around a thousand kilometres away with plenty of aborigine villages in between.

So far, what they knew about the Terran region was that it was somewhat of an oblong shape occupying a region as big as a small country.

Alterra itself seemed to be on the Southern half of this oblong. On the Southern side, the southernmost Terran village was less than 200 kilometers away from Alterra, in fact. Basset Town was the nearest Town in this direction, around 500 kilometers away.

Yasof Village, another aboriginal allied territory, was directly East of Alterra, very near Terran villages as well.

The Southwest side had mostly been explored already, thanks to the fact that they had always been close allies with the nearest Town there, which was Ferrol at less than 300 kilometers away. Not to mention, they had a satellite right outside the ‘Terran border’ on that side.

By this time, the maps in Alterra’s database were already far superior to most towns…and it would only expand more and more.

Eventually, they would be able to create a complete map of an entire region— not missing a single hill or stream. And once they did, they would be one of the very few territories to ever do so.
