Chapter 1612: Origin of Powder Craze
Basically, while many people begged to get their powders—no matter how much it cost them or ruined their lives — the people creating them were counting money!
“HAHAHAH! So rich! So rich!” The Flaret Town Lord, Peaco, laughed as he looked at the tens of thousands of gold in his wallet.
Unlike before, though, his flabby body was a bit thinner, his skin saggier, and the skin below his eyes much more sunken than before.
He had no idea how different he looked in the span of a few months, nor did he care. All he could see was the powder, the liquid, and the money. As long as he could touch them, experience them, nothing else mattered anymore.
The money he had seen in the past months could be said to be more than what he had seen at one time. A few more months of this and he would’ve made more than everything he had earned as a Lord the past decade or so—combined!
It’s so amazing. He felt like he could fly high, and this was all thanks to the man next to him.
He couldn’t help but pat the man on the back. He made sure to catch his strength, of course. That said, he never dared to underestimate this man. His level might be low, but his brain was impeccable! Not to mention, he leveled up fast enough. Give him another year, and he’d catch up to most Town-level guards!
To keep such a talent, and according to their deal, Felipe naturally received a portion of the earnings. These tens of thousands were already the amount he was keeping!
So amazing!
The two of them ambled inside their industrial area, which had been outfitted to mass produce the products, and a few expansions had already been completed. There were several large buildings with different processes each.
The workers on each portion were oath-bound not to divulge what they had been doing, ensuring the secrecy of their processes. Further, because they were low-leveled and what was taught to them was only part of an entire process, the oath could be strict and could last longer than others, possibly a lifetime.
Of course, a lot of these people were also Terran slaves, who didn’t have to make so many oaths and had the advantage of being technically useful.
Of course, for the most part, only the low-leveled ones were sent in here, including the disabled. The rest were far more useful in the battlefield than being factory hands.
Each day, they could make dozens of kilograms of the powders, and this meant thousands of gold each day!
“If we had our old world’s processes and engineers… we can make even more… but for now, this will do,” Felipe said. Whenever he spoke like this, Peaco couldn’t help but feel a bit greedy. Those fantastic machineries…when would his town have them?
“Regardless, we will not lack a market,” the Terran said. “This is a lifetime commitment, and we will produce more and more as time passed by.”
Peaco nodded, and he couldn’t help but remember the advanced orders that they had. They were overwhelming, but he could literally see himself swimming in a lake of gold soon.
“It is such a good thing, but I am still shocked by how many orders we got in such a short amount of time. I had been wondering why you advised me to sell affordably before,” he said. “Now, I know.”
Obviously, it was such a good product and he knew that they could charge even more! Granted, they were already making at least 5 times what it costs even then, but he had been confident they could sell it for several times more.
When Felipe insisted on keeping the price, Peaco had his doubts. But seeing the number of orders and the spread of their new influence, he finally understood.
Even his Prestige had increased by scores of points in a week! That thing hadn’t moved for years!
More than the gold, the prestige was much more important! Flaret had been stuck in Level 1 for decades, and it had been his father’s dying wish to see it upgraded!
The old man is dead, and Peaco found himself with the same dream. He wanted the Town to upgrade during his reign! It was supposed to be his legacy!
Who knows…before he died, perhaps he could even see it enter Level 3! With the rate at which the drugs were spreading, it was totally possible!
Felipe nodded. “Yes, we want it to spread as far as possible before we change the prices.”
“It should also have seeped into cities by now!” Peaco said, giggling. “Imagine my product being used by cities. Would they treat me as an equal?”
He said this as if he were the one who invented the product. “The powder is so magical, maybe city nobles would come beg me for more!”
Felipe’s face didn’t change. “It is more likely they will try to take over Flaret instead.”
This made the excited Peaco deflate immediately. “W-What do we do, Master Felipe?”
Felipe looked at the man who’d listen to everything he said as if it were gospel.
“Remember how we got those merchants to sign oaths of non-disclosure?”
He drafted the oath himself. Unbeknownst to this idiot Lord, the merchants’ oaths were to him, Felipe, and not Flaret Town at all.
He also added quite a few provisions for himself, in case he…needed a bit of help to grab more power.
It stated that they could not divulge the source of the powder. One of their rewards was a good bit of powder, of course.
These caravans would distribute the drugs to various places. Felipe even taught them how to get people to try things out.
He basically did everything because the Lord was an idiot who just inherited his token. Peaco wouldn’t have thought of all these safety measures on his own.
“Well, you handled that, didn’t you?” he said, shamelessly just patting Felipe’s shoulder again. This time, he forgot to control his strength, irking the drug lord.
Still, Felipe did not say anything. He was also thinking along the same vein. Unlike Peaco, however, his confidence had a basis.
Eventually, they would get the City nobles to be dependent on them. They had to make sure they wouldn’t bite back first, of course.
To do this, they had to get them all so dependent on their product that they wouldn’t risk making an enemy out of them. He would keep their prices for now, just to make sure more and more nobles would get addicted.
For now, he couldn’t jump at the chance to show off, no matter how much he wanted to. For now, he had to remain as the idiotic Lord’s advisor, but he had a feeling his chance to take it would come soon.
“Soon, various territories would bid and fight for our products, and we will have all the power in our hands,” Felipe said, pausing and smiling slyly. He looked at the Lord.
“It’s time to release our new product, the Pink Dream, to the outside world, now,” he said, looking at the intravenous substance. So far, they had been offering it to the nobles of the Town. Now, they had the infrastructure to do mass production.
And mass production meant more money. A lot of it.
“This time, we will charge the sky high price it deserves.”
Come one, make more money. mwahahhaa
