Capítulo 541: Treasure IX

The chief nodded and pointed at the map.

“These marks show where the attacks happened,” he said. “Every place was a vampire den. Every one of them is empty now.”

Asher looked closely. “Any survivors?”

“No,” the chief replied. “Not a single one.”

Asher traced the pattern with his eyes. “It’s moving in a line.”

“Yes,” the chief said. “Slow, but deliberate.”

He tapped one mark near the edge of the domain. “This was the last attack. Two nights ago.”

Asher straightened. “Then it hasn’t left yet.”

“We believe so,” the chief said. “Our scouts stopped finding traces beyond this point.”

Asher turned to him. “Why didn’t you send your strongest?”

The chief’s expression hardened slightly. “We did. Three elite teams.”

Asher waited.

“None returned,” the chief said.

Asher nodded once. “Where is this place?”

The chief gestured toward the door. “I’ll have someone guide you.”

“No,” Asher said. “I don’t need an escort.”

The chief studied him. “This thing hunts vampires. It may react to your power.”

Asher answered calmly. “Then it will show itself faster.”

The chief gave a short laugh. “You really don’t hesitate.”

“No,” Asher said. “Hesitation gets people killed.”

The chief stepped aside. “Very well. But I’ll give you this.”

He handed Asher a small crystal device. “A domain signal. If you activate it, every vampire nearby will pull back. No interference.”

Asher took it. “Understood.”

The chief looked at him seriously. “If this anomaly truly feeds on blood, you may be walking into its advantage.”

Asher met his gaze. “Or its mistake.”

The chief nodded slowly. “Then may the Blood Moon watch over you.”

Asher turned and walked toward the exit hall.

Outside, the red sky felt heavier than before. The structures thinned as he moved deeper into the marked zone.

No voices. No movement.

Only the smell of old blood in the air.

Asher stopped and looked ahead.

“This is close,” he said to himself.

Then he moved forward, alone, toward where the first den had fallen.

Asher reached the ruined den a few minutes later.

The building was still standing, but everything inside felt wrong. No guards. No movement. The silence was complete.

He stepped inside.

The air was cold. Dark stains covered the floor and walls, but there were no bodies.

Asher stopped in the center of the room.

“Absolute Appraisal,” he said quietly.

His vision shifted.

Information flooded in, clear and direct.

The blood here had been drained, not spilled. It was pulled out of living bodies in seconds. The victims had not fought back. Their abilities were suppressed before they could react.

Asher walked forward slowly, eyes scanning every mark.

The appraisal showed traces of power left behind. Not vampire energy. Not human. Something distorted.

“This wasn’t feeding,” Asher said under his breath. “It was harvesting.”

He crouched near the floor.

More details appeared.

The anomaly used blood-based powers, but in reverse. Instead of controlling blood, it erased its connection. Vampire regeneration had been cut off completely. Once the link was broken, the bodies failed instantly.

Asher stood up.

“That explains the elites,” he said. “They never had a chance.”

He moved deeper into the den. The appraisal followed.

No signs of panic. No escape attempts.

“They didn’t even realize they were dying,” Asher said.

At the far wall, the appraisal highlighted something different.

A faint residue. Not blood. Not mana. Not soul energy.

Asher focused on it.

The answer came back immediately.

Anomaly Type: Blood-Negation Entity

Threat Level: Extreme

Special Trait: Hostile to blood-based lifeforms and abilities

“hm, so its hostile to Vampires?” Asher mumbled as he continued to look around.

The appraisal showed direction next. A clear path where the entity had moved next, deeper into the domain.

Asher turned toward it.

“You’re hunting,” he said calmly. “And you’re not done.”

He stepped out of the ruined den and followed the trail, his senses sharp.

He chased the presence again and again, but every time he got close, it vanished. The pattern repeated for nearly an hour. Each time, the anomaly slipped away just before he could engage.

Finally, Asher stopped.

“Hm,” he said quietly. “You don’t like vampires, right?”

A small smile appeared on his face.

His Sanguine Supreme ability activated.

Asher shifted his bloodline into that of a vampire.

His ears grew slightly longer and turned sharp at the tips. His ruby-red eyes darkened into a deep blood red. His skin became unnaturally pale, and his entire presence changed. The air around him felt colder, heavier.

The effect was immediate.

The predator that had been moving away suddenly reacted. Instead of fleeing, it turned around.

It wasn’t running anymore.

It was rushing straight toward Asher.

Asher smiled wider.

“Thought so. I knew that would work.”

Asher didn’t move as the presence closed in.

When it finally came into full view, he saw it clearly.

It was a werewolf.

Tall. Standing on two legs. Its body was covered in dark gray fur, thick with muscle. Long claws dug into the ground as it stopped a short distance away. Yellow eyes locked onto Asher, sharp and full of hunger.

The creature lowered its head slightly, sniffing the air around him.

Asher tilted his head.

“Hm. The chief said it wasn’t a rival race,” he said calmly. “But I see a werewolf standing right in front of me.”

The werewolf didn’t answer right away. It straightened and bared its teeth.

“You don’t fear me,” the werewolf said in a low voice.

Asher shook his head. “Not even a little.”

The werewolf’s lips curled into something close to a grin. “Soon, you will like others”

Asher’s eyes narrowed slightly. “So it was you.”

The werewolf stepped closer. “Your bloodline is pure,” it said slowly. “After I kill you, your progenitor blood will be mine.”

Asher’s smile faded. “That explains it.”

The werewolf paused. “Explains what?”

“You’re not just a werewolf,” Asher said. “You carry the Devourer of World Bloodlines.”

The werewolf’s eyes widened for a brief second, then narrowed again. “So you can see that.”

Asher nodded. “And that explains why you target vampires. Bloodlines like theirs can’t resist being eaten by something like you.”
