Chapter 507: Bionics X

Asher hit the ground, rolled twice, and pushed himself back up fast. The dragon didn’t give him a second. It turned and snapped at him again, jaws closing with a loud crack.

Asher jumped back, barely clearing the bite.

The Knight rushed in to take pressure off him. It slammed its shoulder into the dragon’s side, making the beast shift its weight. The dragon swung its claw down in response, slashing deep into the Knight’s armor and sending sparks everywhere. The Knight staggered but didn’t fall.

Asher ran in from behind and hammered his fist into the base of the dragon’s neck. The hit made the dragon lower its head for a moment, giving the Knight room to breathe.

The dragon retaliated immediately. It twisted its body and swept its wing sideways like a giant blade. The Knight jumped back, but Asher took the hit on his shoulder. The impact threw him across the floor, his back scraping against broken stone.

He got up again with a grunt.

“Alright… that hurt.”

The dragon inhaled sharply.

Asher’s eyes widened.

Not another beam—this time the dragon was drawing void energy into its entire body.

Its scales brightened.

Its claws glowed.

Even the cracks on its core pulsed harder.

It was boosting itself again.

Asher spat blood and turned to the Knight.

“If it boosts one more time, we won’t be able to hold it down. We hit the core. No matter what.”

The Knight nodded and rushed forward.

The dragon roared and lunged at the Knight first. It slammed its front claw down. The Knight dodged to the side and slashed at its leg. The blade cut halfway in before the boosted scales stopped it.

Asher came from the other side and drove his elbow into the dragon’s wing joint again. This time the joint cracked. The dragon’s movements faltered for a moment.

The Knight seized the chance and jumped onto its back.

The dragon bucked wildly, trying to throw the Knight off. Asher grabbed the dragon’s tail with both hands and pulled, forcing its balance to shift again.

The Knight crawled up the dragon’s spine toward the floating core. The dragon twisted, trying to shake it loose. Asher ran up and jumped, punching the dragon’s jaw sideways to stop it from flipping over.

The Knight reached the base of the floating core and raised its sword.

The dragon sensed the danger.

Its core pulsed violently, and gravity around the Knight doubled. The Knight dropped to one knee, unable to lift its sword further.

Asher saw the field pulling the Knight down and sprinted across the dragon’s back. He grabbed the Knight’s shoulder and pushed upward with all his strength.

“Do it!” Asher shouted.

The Knight raised its greatsword and swung down.

The blade struck the core.

A sharp crack tore through the room.

A new fracture split across the core’s surface.

The dragon screamed, energy leaking out in unstable bursts.

It thrashed hard. Asher and the Knight were both thrown off its back, crashing into the ground. The dragon stumbled, its legs shaking under the strain.

Asher forced himself to stand.

The dragon steadied itself too, but it was weaker now. The core above its head flickered like a dying star.

Asher clenched his fists.

“One more hit,” he said. “We end it now.”

The dragon lowered itself and prepared for another desperate charge—its final one.

Asher stepped forward, blood dripping down his arm.

“Knight. With me.”

The Knight took its stance beside him, sword ready.

The void dragon roared and launched forward, the ground exploding under its feet.

Asher and the Knight charged to meet it head-on.

The three forces collided in the center of the chamber like a small earthquake.

The dragon’s head came crashing down toward Asher. Its jaws were wide open, void-fire spilling out like smoke. Asher dodged to the side at the last second and slammed his fist straight into the side of its snout. The hit forced its head to twist, slowing its charge by a fraction.

That fraction was all the Knight needed.

The Abyss Dragon Knight slid under the dragon’s chest and slashed upward with a full-body swing. The blade tore across the dragon’s underbelly, cutting through scales weakened by the cracked core. A line of dark blue energy poured out of the wound.

The dragon screamed and stomped down with one of its front claws.

The Knight rolled away, barely avoiding being crushed.

Asher didn’t wait. He sprinted straight up the dragon’s lowered foreleg, boots digging into its scales. The dragon tried to shake him off, but he jumped and grabbed onto the rim of its cracked horn, pulling himself higher.

The floating void core was right above him, flickering and unstable.

The dragon instantly reacted—its gravity field flared one more time. Asher felt like someone dropped an entire mountain on his back. His arms trembled. His knees buckled.

He almost fell.

But he didn’t.

He pushed through and dragged his body up the last bit.

The Knight came in again from below and stabbed its sword into the dragon’s chest. The blow forced the dragon to look down, instincts reacting to the pain.

The core was exposed.

Asher roared and threw his entire weight upward, fist aimed at the biggest crack.

His knuckles hit the core dead center.

The entire chamber lit up white-blue for a heartbeat.

The core split open with a loud, sharp break—like glass shattering underwater.

The void dragon froze.

Its body trembled.

Its flames dimmed.

Its wings twitched and collapsed.

Then its entire form began breaking down into chunks of black metal and blue light, dissolving into the air like melting ash.

By the time the glow faded, the huge beast was gone—only a spreading puddle of inactive metal was left on the floor.

Asher stood there, breathing hard, fists still raised. Sweat and blood ran down his arms.

The Abyss Dragon Knight walked up beside him, sword resting on its shoulder again. The glow in its eyes had calmed, no longer burning with battle pressure.

Asher wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

“Finally,” he muttered. “That thing was a pain.”

The Knight nodded once in agreement.

Asher looked toward the far end of the chamber.

Another door stood there.

Bigger than the others.

Older.

Locked with six glowing seals.

He exhaled.

“…Guess we’re not done yet.”

And with the Knight beside him, Asher walked forward toward whatever came next.
