Chapter 698: Aksai vs Kalingoot Conclusion P1

Time passed slowly.

Below, the Kalingoot base island was still in chaos. Fires burned across the land. Explosions echoed from time to time.

Alliance forces and Emerald Cove Experts continued to press their attack. Screams and Spirit fluctuations filled the air.

Yet the Green Glory Lord paid little attention to that. His eyes never left the cube. Minutes passed. Then more minutes.

Just when he began to consider stepping in and helping Aksai a little bit despite the pact, something changed.

Crack.

A thin line appeared on the surface of the spatial cube. The Green Glory Lord’s eyes narrowed.

Crack. Crack.

More lines spread across the cube like shattered glass. The pressure in the air became unstable, and waves of distorted space rolled outward.

In the next moment, the cube broke apart completely. It seemed to have shattered into countless fragments of light before dissolving into nothingness.

A figure appeared first. It was Saarken Starfire.

He looked pale and exhausted. His clothes were torn, and blood stained his body. His Spirit Pulse was weak and unsteady. Without hesitation, he summoned a third-order flying boat and jumped onto it.

Swoosh. Zoom. Vanish.

The boat shot away at full speed. Before anyone could react, Saarken vanished into the distance, escaping the battlefield. The Green Glory Lord was a bit taken aback by the First Supreme’s resourcefulness.

The Green Glory Lord had thought that Saarken, who had used a borrowed core to obtain Lordship status, wasn’t anything special. Even if he had obtained the complete legacy of a ghost-centric sect from a bygone era, it shouldn’t have been enough to turn him into a true Lord.

However, at this moment, the Green Glory Lord realized that his thinking had been wrong. In fact, all the true Lords had thought wrongly and underestimated these pseudo Lords from Kalingoot.

Even if they were nowhere near as strong as true Lords of the same cultivation base, the tools they had obtained from exploring secret realms allowed them to stand on nearly equal footing with true Lords.

After realizing this, the Green Glory Lord frowned even more. He began to think that Aksai’s chances of surviving against someone like Saarken were even lower than he had previously estimated.

However, just as this thought crossed his mind, a second figure appeared as the last traces of the cube faded.

It was Aksai.

He looked even worse.

His breathing was heavy, and his face was pale. Blood flowed from the corner of his mouth. His Spirit Pulse flickered like a flame of a candle lit on a windy hill. He wiped the blood away with the back of his hand and steadied himself in the air.

For a moment, he simply hovered there, as if catching his breath. Then he turned and flew toward the warship where the Green Glory Lord stood.

The Green Glory Lord watched him approach in silence, his expression unreadable.

“Alive,” he thought. “Severely injured, but alive.”

That alone was enough to surprise him. Whatever had happened inside that cube, one thing was clear. A first level Lord Aksai had survived a direct clash with late-stage Saarken Starfire.

The Green Glory Lord stepped closer when Aksai landed on the warship. His brows were tightly knit as he looked at Aksai’s pale face and bloodstained clothes.

“Lord Aksai, are you alright?” he asked. “That fight looked dangerous.”

As he spoke, he took out a small jade bottle from his storage ring. A faint, rich fragrance spread around them.

“This is a 3rd Order recovery elixir. It should help you stabilize your injuries,” he added.

Aksai waved his hand lightly and shook his head. “Thank you for the offer, Green Glory Lord, but it won’t be necessary.”

Ever since his last deal with the Green Glory Lord, Aksai was wary of this old man. The lunches he offered weren’t only not free but extra expensive.

Aksai then took out a pill bottle of his own. He poured out a dark green pill, placed it in his mouth, and swallowed it without hesitation. A warm feeling spread through his body as his breathing slowly steadied.

The Green Glory Lord did not insist. He nodded and then asked, “So, what was the outcome of your battle with Saarken?”

Aksai let out a short, humorless laugh. He looked at the distant sea before turning back.

“Isn’t it obvious?” he said.

“I have now come to learn that killing a Lord isn’t as easy as I thought. And it’s not just because of the difference in our cultivation bases. The Core Formation realm Spirit cultivators just have too many trump cards.

“Defeating a Lord might not be that difficult if there’s a sufficient difference in the cultivation bases but one can’t just kill a fellow Lord just because they want to. This game is way above the level of Foundation Establishment Experts’ imagination. As a newbie Lord, I have learned my lesson.

“Let’s just say that Kalingoot will continue to exist as long as the Lords from the Big Five Sects and the Three Major Demonic Sects don’t join hands and target the man called the First Supreme.”

He paused for a moment and then continued in a calm voice.

“But I guess… that will never happen. All of you have interests tied to both the Alliance and Kalingoot. You old-timer Lords have been around for too long and are used to taking benefits from both sides.

“The non-aggression pact among the fellow Lords you talk about is, for the most part, just an excuse. You want the Alliance and Kalingoot to keep clashing now and then, so neither side grows too strong, while you keep profiting in the end.

“It’s like some kind of shadowy organization running a kingdom under the garb of democracy, where two opposing parties pretend to fight each other to keep the citizens engaged and distracted from seeing the truth.

I have to say that I still have a lot to learn from veteran Lords like you. Maybe I’ll get to play the same games as you when I grow strong enough. Hehehe.”
