Chapter 607: Aksai vs GMH Conclusion
Normally, it would have been impossible for an Argent artist to injure an Aurous artist, no matter how powerful or precise his martial arts were.
This was because Aurous artists could deploy a golden Qi layer around their bodies that was almost impossible to penetrate unless the opponent was also an Aurous artist.
However, Aksai had the Qi Shell of the Verdant Elder working for him. This Qi Shell allowed him to increase the destructive nature of his Qi-based attacks. It was like using twin engines to match the performance of a higher-stroke machine.
Because of this, Aksai’s martial arts were far stronger than those of any early-stage Aurous artist, even though his energy was still silvery Qi. What made it even worse for his opponent was that the Qi Shell had changed the way Aksai’s Qi behaved once it entered another person’s body.
Aurous artists were powerful not just because of their golden Qi. After their metamorphosis, their flesh and tendons underwent a kind of evolution. As a result, they could recover from serious injuries within seconds thanks to their accelerated healing ability — something visible to the naked eye. It was almost as if they were blessed with innate healing-type Spirit spells.
But Aksai’s Qi Shell made it nearly impossible for the Aurous artist to use this healing ability. The golden Qi couldn’t expel Aksai’s silvery Qi that had entered his body through the dagger strikes. Aksai’s silvery Qi wasn’t purely his own — it also carried traces of the Verdant Elder’s beastly Qi, which was harder to suppress or dispel.
What shocked the Aurous artist even more was that, over time, he found it harder and harder to block or dodge Aksai’s attacks. This was because Aksai’s Neural Link Fabric had optimized his newly created mixed martial arts style in real time.
It constantly adjusted the Qi-flow template based on his opponent’s reactions. With its help, Aksai introduced random delays and sudden bursts of speed at key moments, consistently catching his opponent off guard.
Aksai didn’t stop. His dagger danced through the air, his free hand glowing faintly with the white light of Qi Palm Arts as he struck again. Every motion was clean, every strike efficient. No wasted energy.
As the elder tried to channel a powerful technique, Aksai stepped in close, his dagger cutting upward while his palm landed squarely against the man’s chest.
A flash of silver and gold exploded between them, and the elder’s golden Qi shield shattered like glass, even though it was technically of a higher caliber.
This dual-edged yet seemingly straightforward attack worked because Aksai had sent one of his flying Celestial Shards to the Everwood Farm and summoned it back just behind his opponent, controlling it with his Spirit Sense.
It all happened within a split second. Thanks to the spatial supremacy he gained through the Everwood Farm, his sneak attack worked perfectly.
Even though the sneak attack itself didn’t deal much direct damage, it disrupted the Aurous artist’s rhythm, throwing off both his offense and defense. As a result, when Aksai’s main strike landed, his opponent had no choice but to take the full hit.
The force sent the Aurous artist flying backward, crashing into a tangle of Devil Vines. The vines instantly reacted, wrapping around him and dragging him under as if the forest itself were devouring him.
Aksai exhaled softly and flipped the Celestial Stinger once before catching it by the hilt. “One down,” he murmured.
Then he turned his gaze toward the next Aurous artist waiting in the distance. His Argent Qi flared again calmly and steadily despite the chaos around him.
***
About an hour after the Devil’s Den deployment.
The battle was over.
Silence slowly fell over the partially ruined city, broken only by the faint crackle of fading Qi and the sound of blood dripping from broken blades.
The once-proud martial artists of the Grand Martial Hall now lay scattered across the ground like discarded dolls.
Torn limbs, broken bones, and lifeless eyes painted a scene too brutal for words. Severed heads rested at odd angles, their skulls split open. Teeth and bits of flesh were mixed in the dark soil. The smell of iron and death filled the air.
Little pools of blood reflected the dull sky, and pieces of intestines and organs clung to the roots and rocks. The wind that passed through carried the stench of death and smoke.
Aksai stood in the middle of it all. His breathing was slightly heavy, his chest rising and falling slowly.
Around him, the Sentient Bloodfiends that had served him so faithfully were now little more than broken husks. Some lay twisted with missing limbs, their dark red silvery Qi leaking out like mist. Others had half-melted faces or shattered bones that jutted out from their flesh.
Most of them were beyond repair.
Aksai took one long look at them before sighing softly. He waved his hand, deactivating the subroutine Neural Link Fabric within their Soul Fragments. Their eyes dimmed and their bodies went quiet in the next moment. The few that could still move relatively fine were pulled back into the Everwood Farm, but most were left where they had fallen.
He had used everything he had in this fight. Towards the end of the battle, he even had to take out the woodland bears who ended up severely injured before they were sent back to Everwood Farm.
Even the Bloodfiends he’d kept in reserve—those meant for emergencies only—had been sent out as suicide units to take down the stronger enemies. It had worked, but at a heavy cost.
He looked down at his weapons spread out before him.
The Lian Flying Sword lay crooked on the ground, its blade cracked and chipped at the front. It could still float weakly in the air like a wounded bird, but its edge had lost the power to cut.
The Celestial Fang, his heavy broadsword, had a broken hilt and no longer responded to his Qi commands. It couldn’t fly anymore.
